Ok we have talked to the end of the topic so here is a new one

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrsboogie · 06/08/2008 16:24

oh totally understand jw - she's here but on the other hand she's been making such steady progress you don't want to jinx it.

I am so bad that I sometimes delete my own comments to you about how well K seems to be doing cos I am scared it will jinx her!!

Yes I am doo-lally

hedgepig · 06/08/2008 18:15

JW just re-read my post I hope it wasn't upsetting - just getting carried away in my daft head Hxx

hedgepig · 06/08/2008 19:48

MrsB I have just been on the kiddicare web site and they have amby nests and a video of how they work. DH just glanced across and said "how much" and mumbled disparaging comments - so I don't think we will be getting one in the hedgepig household

mrsboogie · 06/08/2008 19:56

Well I kind of sold it on the basis that it doesn't take up much room - our bedroom is a mess of clutter and stuff that that hasn't got any other home. Also mentioned that it was supposed to be good for keeping them lying on their backs so maybe safer.

mrsboogie · 06/08/2008 20:02

good god - just looked on the kiddicare website - the amby is £139 on there it was over two hundred quid where I saw it before, big massive thank you hedgepig!!

hedgepig · 06/08/2008 20:03

woopss meant to say it was the cheapest I had found. Did you look at the product video? kiddicare TV how brill.

FloriaTosca · 06/08/2008 20:25

Hedgepig; If you want to talk your Dh into getting an Amby just look at the resale value on ebay...people are paying £100 and more! It is excellent at keeping them on their backs...well apparently until 10 months old as Alex has just started spinning in his...looks like he is ready to graduate to his cotbed(it is dreadfully sad how quickly he is trying to grow up)...but we have had our moneys worth and can still use the frame with the jumpjump for him..got to go...he screams calls!

mrsboogie · 06/08/2008 20:31

I did indeed - its great hedgepig.

oh and the jump jump yes

and the killer argument - the promise of a better sleeping baby

mrsboogie · 06/08/2008 20:33

eeek been lookin' at the babygrows, must.stop.now.

hedgepig · 06/08/2008 20:33

Ben didn't sleep through for 7 months so maybe i can use that argument

Fortified · 06/08/2008 21:36

Sorry I've been off-line for a while, we had a holiday in deepest Suffolk for a bit and I've spent the last couple of days lying around like a beached whale, trying to cope with dd, who has turned into a monkey and is climbing up me or the furniture at every opportunity. Quite looking forward to the c-section tomorrow, I might get a bit of a rest!

johnworf · 06/08/2008 21:57

Blimey Fortified how cool are you? I can imagine conversations in your house.....

"well I picked up some margarine, milk and bread, spoke to the postman about that lost package, oh yes, and I had a C section. Anyway, must dash as I've a pan of milk on the stove'

No offence taken hedgepig K's had a pretty rough ride but in the grand scheme of things she's on the up! Took a whole 45ml bottle tonight in one go so she's a greedy fat girly. Both myself and the nurse looked on most impressed. However this soon waned when I changed her nappy and she'd managed to get poo up her back. (whose OH was impressed by K's marvellous expulsion of poop yesterday? Well here's another tale for him). Nurse looked at me and turned on her heels. Honestly. It smelt like the elephant house at london zoo or a pig farm on a hot day. Great

mrsboogie I know what you mean about jinxing stuff. It's a bit like saying Macbeth (i.e. the Scottish play). Up at the hospital we say things like...'if all goes well', 'if she continues on this line' and 'perhaps she'll still be doing this tomorrow'. Sometimes we just look knowingly at each other. I think you know what I mean......we're crackers too

Fortified · 06/08/2008 22:34

Lol, JW. I think I'm just too tired to be anxious/excited!

Real conversation with DH in my house... "promise me you'll remember to give dd some dinner while I'm away." Last time dh told me to go and have a nap I woke up at 7.30 with dd chanting "where's my dinner?".

mrsboogie · 06/08/2008 22:58

oooh fortified - aren't you cool. Hope your experience is as pleasant as what seems like all the c sections that we hear about.

Aye jw - I know exactly what you mean. It was my OH who said cool when I told him bout K and her magnificent pooings. Hope he continues to think that kind of thing is cool...

LOL at the nurse turning on her heel

And a full bottle eh? woo -hoo!

Kaz1967 · 07/08/2008 00:18

mrsboogie I was the same re buying stuff had hardly bought a thing @ 35 weeks.

Now post birth I have gone pink mad

right now Kez is stuffing her self as I type this is a new skill I'm learning

OP posts:
johnworf · 07/08/2008 07:36

kaz1967 I've got a bad case of pink overload too

hedgepig · 07/08/2008 09:48

Fortified - hope it all goes (well probably by the time you read this; went well).
JW is she in standard nappies? if so it may be worth trying a different brand, I know with Ds he would be fine in one brand and then because of a growth spurt they wouldn't fit and more and he would leak everywhere but a switch to a different brand sorted it out.
Mrs B do you want to send your OH down here, I could do with a nappy changer for the smelly ones.
must do some work ..... yawn

jeanjeannie · 07/08/2008 10:53

Ahhh...JW a good backsplash bottom burp....don't it just maker yer feel proud!!!

I'm officially fed up with pink. I worry that the girls will end up looking like a 'My little Pony'.......I want to scream when I see it all in the shops. I mean, imagine if that was all there was for us grown ups to wear...pink...WHAH...oh, don't get me started!!!

fortified....OOOoooo, you won't be reading this at the moment....but have fun...and I really hope it's going as well as mine did

All sweaty again today. Iris has gone to MILs so it's just me and the wee beasty having quality baby time together

hedgepig · 07/08/2008 11:19

quality time that sounds nice JJ or are you just feeding? I't raining here today, how lovely, but the office is all air con and I'm not next to a window so you don't actually notice the weather .

jeanjeannie · 07/08/2008 12:22

Ah yes hedgepig feeding as always but I've got laptop positioned nicely (no toddler mithering cos she wants it!)cup of tea close to hand and some snacks!! And the sun is threatening to come out...so I shall dig out the single pram and Verity and I shall promenade into town.....and mix with 'da hoodies'..!!

Am riffling through the Annabel Karmel book for inspiration....want to get Iris to eat something different. She used to eat ANYTHING - but now she's a fussy little madame. As for chicken - forget it - she'll spot it disguised a mile off Oh well...pasta......again !

mrsboogie · 07/08/2008 12:26

muggy again here despite all the rain...

oh ladies don't be dissing the pink please - you are so lucky - I would lurve to be dressing a little girl. When I walk past the kiddies monsoon shops...all the sparkly shoes and little angel dresses....sigh

this little one is doing the quiet thing again today- was half tempted to ring the hospital but had a listen with the doppler and could hear him moving so will see how things go today. I do this every week...

jeanjeannie · 07/08/2008 12:44

No, NO...NO! Rally against the pink, sparkly fairies who live in Monsoon...they are evil and their wings must be clipped and their wands burned

Aww....you see I love boys stuff - I think I'd be doing the Harvard preppy look for winter (think knitted tank tops and chinos) and then the Ozzie Surfer dude for summer (baggy shorts and lashings of camper van prints)

Sorry - fashion rant over x

hedgepig · 07/08/2008 13:28

Anabelle Karmel I do like her recipies but soon learned that anything she said children lapped up was to be avoided! Ben does not like onions, musvrooms, tomatoes, sauce i could go on. Given that I learnt to cook as a student I find it impossible to cook with out an onion and tomatoes so we are always get off to a bad start. he loves pasta and will eat it plain given 1/2 the chance. MrsB you have all this to come picky children what fun fun fun

I hate pink if I have a girl she is wearing blue and no dresses.

johnworf · 07/08/2008 15:16

In the face of the 'pink backlash' I must rebel! It's my duty My first DD never wore pink. OOOOH no surree. She wore dungarees and greens and yellow tops. Not even a dress in sight. Now I feel I must make up for two daughters in one fell swoop. I too have sinned jeanjeannie and worshipped at the house of Monsoon. I ask your forgiveness.

I can almost understand Jordan aka Katie Price having 100 pairs of shoes for her DD and she can't even walk yet! (I have 8 and a pair of boots for Katherine

Also in my defense I've bought a lot of the scandinavian babygros that are nice enough as an outfit and they're not pink...in fact they're crazy colours. Really psychedelic. Groovy man.

To change subject slightly, I've promised DH that we I'll be making all of our own baby foods once K is weaned. WTF have I committed myself to?! At this rate I won't have time to sleep If I buy the organic nappies then we can pretty much right off any sleep at all.

hedgepig I've used the hospital nappies which are pampers number 1 size and now we're in the premmie Huggies. TBH the shit has fallen out of the sides/back on both of them. As jeanjeannie so eloquently put it, it's the splash back and they're aint no holdin' it back once it's a comin'.........

Now 4lb and a smidge and a new pic to celebrate coming your way

jeanjeannie · 07/08/2008 15:56

johnworf...you are indeed forgiven (holy emoticon) as you have also worshipped with cash at the alter of the Scandinavian babygro....

I'm thinking of putting them both into terry nappies. Iris used to wear them but I got out of the habit when we had no tumble drier. I've got loads...think it'll help with potty training - eventually. Use organic ones too - the Asda ones are great.

Oh I loved weaning. I just bought loads of ice cube trays and a steamer and off I went
Think the steamer has been my best ever purchase....simple - no cooking required and you can't leave it and burn hole in pan cos you've gone off and changed a nappy (tell I've done that before). Just wish Iris would eat as well now

hedgepig Iris would like to invite Ben round for dinner....she'd have just plain pasta too...they're a match made in bland food heaven !
