Hey, anyone else due July 2026? I got my first faint positive at 10dpo on Thursday 23rd October, I’m now 14dpo/4 weeks pregnant. Feeling nervous as still very early my period was due tomorrow. I’ve booked an early scan for in a few weeks so hopefully everything is all good, now just an anxious wait

I’ve only just done my self referral too and they said someone will be in touch within 3 weeks (feels like an eternity šŸ˜‚)

I only did mine on Monday. Keep checking it NHS account to see if there’s a note on there 🤣

Mine are not that dark 😫 here are mine. It’s consuming my mind at the moment! 9-19dpo

I wouldn’t worry. my lines were lighter with my two successful pregnancies than with my missed miscarriage and blighted ovum. Means nothing :)

Thank you so much for this advice, I’m finding it difficult to talk to her now because she’s so interested to hear my symptoms and when I tell her I’m exhausted or not feeling great she’ll say I’m so lucky to be experiencing that (and I am, I am so so happy but also tired šŸ˜‚)

Definitely 2 feelings can co exist! You can feel grateful you’re pregnant and feel like rubbish at the same time!

I also noticed I’m a bit breathless when I haven’t really done much! Yeah definitely good to keep an eye on!
I’ve self referred but just waiting for someone to get in touch for my first appointment. Did that take long for you? I’m only about 5 weeks. And yes you’re so right about just focusing on what’s in our control!

I’m also breathless I remember having it with my first too! Thought I was doing ok symptom wise but the nausea has hit today at 6w4d 🤢

Hope everone is doing well today!

I've just sort of realised just how many un-pregnancy friendly plans I've got over the next few weeks. Normal social drinks things, but also I'm meant to be doing a cold swim and sauna afternoon with my mum and sister the weekend after next. I don't want to just cancel that, as its an xmas wreath workshop too which I'd like to do. So I'll probably end up telling them, even though I'd prefer to wait a bit and get a scan at 7 or 8 weeks first.

Trying to research and see if a short swim and short short sauna (not getting over-heated) would be ok, or not at all. With my first pregnancy I found it so useful to understand the reasons for the various recommendations and make my own decisions based on that. I read "expecting better" by emily oster and found it really helpful personally. Will try to get it from the library again I think!

bellaflower · 20/11/2025 12:41

I think that’s a good approach @Doodlestar, using research and then basing your decide on that. I’ve not heard of that book, which probably would have been useful for my first pregnancy. I might check it out.

I’ve got a Christmas party when I’m due to be7 weeks. I have booked a scan 2 days before.

i think colleagues will suspect something as I often drink at these parties. I might tell my MD prior to the party and then let people gossip, if they do.

Also.. we went to France recently and stocked up on lots of nice wine. Gutted I can’t enjoy that!

Pregnant women in the Nordic countries still use saunas and go for cold swims etc, it’s all about knowing how to do it safely and not getting over heated, I’m sure it will be fine once you’ve done your research 😊

Doodlestar · 20/11/2025 12:58

Ahh @bellaflower make sure you keep a nice bottle or 2 for after baby is here!

Same re Christmas parties, I have my work one quite soon which is lunch and then I'll just try to head home early, going to tell them some excuse. I'm sure my manager will guess, but he will be professional and pretend not to at least...!

Think I will get a scan mid December about 7.5 weeks and then probably tell families over Xmas all being well.

Clarysjb · 20/11/2025 13:03

Has anyone started any pregnancy vitamins? I was taking a whole host of stuff whilst ttc but they were general female vitamins with vitamin A and only 200mg of folic acid so want to get something better now. Seen pregnacare or proceive? Want something that’s only one tablet a day so easy on stomach 😊

Outside9 · 20/11/2025 13:07

I concur doing research and using common sense.

People are shocked to learn I'd happily eat sushi as if it's poison. Pretty sure pregnant women in Japan still enjoy it.

I’ve been taking pregncare max (but it’s 3 tablets a day) and so far I’ve had no adverse effects, my clinic advised me to use it so I just went with their recommendation for now, but may change it down the line as the tablets are so big 😭

BunnyWilliams · 20/11/2025 13:09

@ClarysjbI've started taking the Bassetts chewy pregnancy vitamins. So far, so good. They taste really good and haven't made me feel off. I took Pregnacare in my last 3 pregnancies and it always made me feel horrific and gave a horrible aftertaste too so much so that in my last pregnancy I just switched to basic Folic Acid and Vitamin D. Glad there's something different to try this time!

In my last pregnancy my friend told me off for drinking a McDonald’s Coke said it would harm the baby

EL27 · 20/11/2025 13:45

I am being careful in terms of the rule of pregnant women shouldn't change the cats litter (because then I can get my husband to do that lovely job šŸ˜šŸ¤£).

I did end up calling my doctors about my nausea (and bit of sickness) had a telephone appointment and was prescribed Cyclazine. Been on It 2 days now and it helps a bit, but also makes me extremely drowsy/tired! The doctor said I could call back and try a different medication if it doesn't work well but I might just stick with this and only take it if I'm having a very nauseous episode.

Clarysjb · 20/11/2025 13:48

Got some info on my booking appointment, said it would be done over the phone at some point before I’m 13 weeks. Anyone I’ve known to be pregnant was seen in person before 10 weeks (usually around 8) for their booking appointment and bloods etc taken? Anyone had info on theirs yet?

My booking appointment with my first (about 2 years ago) was at my home and basically just going through a load of health questions, giving information etc. which seems it's going to be the same this time.

I would assume you could do it on the phone quite easily. I never had bloods done until 12 weeks.

88claire · 20/11/2025 14:49

Halfway through the two week wait for my second scan. 6+3 by my dates, 6+4 by the scan. Nausea has hit a bit today (been feeling relatively normal until now). I've resisted the urge to go for one earlier and hanging on for the EPU one next Thursday.

It's a very weird feeling being in limbo - there's absolutely nothing to say anything is wrong but I've got myself completely convinced this won't end well... Again.

Haven't told a soul which like people have said is very lonely! Work is going to be tough with the nausea (I'm a children's community nurse). I haven't told colleagues as I'm sure they're sick of hearing about my miscarriages and I can't take more time off so it's better I just keep it quiet.

7 days to go and at least I'll have a definitive yes/no answer (for the time being šŸ˜‚)

How's everyone else doing?

I’m toiling with the idea of booking a scan in for around the 6-7 week mark as I’m full of nerves. Previous twin MMC a few years ago, have a son but was on edge all pregnancy with him.

I am worried if I book in too early I’ll be in limbo. So unsure on what to do!

So sorry for your losses :( it is so hard.

As hard as it is - as I know the feeling of wanting reassurance I would wait until 7 weeks for a more black and white answer. This week has been rubbish!

Sorry for your losses too. It's so cruel!

BunnyWilliams · 20/11/2025 15:25

@babyno2duejuly2026If you can bear it, I'd wait until closer to 8 weeks if you can. I went for a scan at 6 weeks in my last (successful) pregnancy and there was no heartbeat. The week wait until the next scan was agonising. I've also had a MMC and understand the overwhelming anxiety. It's all coming back to me now how hard the wait is!!

LittleWrenUK · 20/11/2025 18:13

I'm taken viridian pregnancy tablets with no adverse affects. I took their fertility ones too when ttc. They're a bit more expensive but have whole ingredients in them so tend to be absorbed more easily (and less stomach cramping as a result).

I've just finished Expecting Better and really enjoyed understanding the evidence behind dos and don'ts. Does anyone have any other pregnancy or baby book reccemondations for a first time mum?

I take the same but oh my, the tablets are massive!! Almost keep choking. Only took folic with baby 1 and bit D - which I think is the recommended

I’ve not had anything yet after self referring on monday. I remember with my first I had a midwife appt at 8 weeks. No bloods just a chat. I doubt I’ll have that this time.

bellaflower · 20/11/2025 19:40

@88clairei hope the week flies by for you. I imagine you’re fully consumed with it all and being a children community nurse surrounded by children must be a constant reminder.

sorry to hear your colleagues aren’t as supportive. Fingers crossed for good reassuring news at the scan in a weeks time.
