Oh glad everything turnt put all good but I would of shit! (Sorry for language) what a day that turnt out but its good they was on ball and didnt fob you off!

I thought braxton hicks was part of it i seem to get them quite abit tbh, I dont recall them with my first. So are they more dodgy with the likes of us who could possibly got into preterm labour?

Bet you feel like you need to be extra prepared now xxx

Same!! Wasn’t expecting to be in all day but happy they took it seriously.

that’s what I thought hence why I hadn’t thought anything of it. Only when the midwife asked I mentioned it. But I wonder as I’m higher risk to go into pre term labour anyway that’s I actually have to pay attention to them. When with my first I just thought part of pregnancy.

yeah packed our bags last night, ordered some snacks on my food shop which comes tomorrow to pack. And got a plan in place for childcare if we do suddenly have to go xxx

Yesterday I was actually saying to my partner we need to get our last bits because if I went early his head would fall off running round to get them. We need like the prep machine Bottles pram the essentials really. Ive got like the cot and the cloths and that side sorted xxx

Yeah bring it up and ask her. Yeah I always thought if period pains that’s what you should look out for.

yeah thankfully got everything for baby. Ordered some tiny baby bits just in case he does come early thanks Vinted. The only thing I need to get is a breast pump.

yeah get it all ready. That’s what I thought if I had to get my partner to run around for it would lose his mind. Not got loads left to get then! Xxx

Well hopfully he decides to stay in longer and your cervix behaves!! Have you spoke to work?

So do the hospital think hes going to come early because of your braxton hicks and back pain or was there other indications too? Xxx

Hopefully!! I’m already on restrictive duties working from home on the sofa with leg raised and only doing 4 hours a day. I will mention to occupational health in our next meeting though.

basically they put all my cervix measurements, symptoms into a calculator which works out my risk of pre term labour. Next two weeks is low but increases the closer I get to 35-38 weeks. I just have to look out for the cramps, if waters go etc! I have another appointment with pre term birth team this month to go through a plan of action. Xx

@Sunshinemoom this sounds so worrying but I'm glad they are on top of it and you can rest. Hoping everything stays stable for you!

Anyone else had COVID or flu when pregnant? Pretty sure I've got COVID. DH tested positive yesterday after being ill since Wednesday. I see they don't offer the vaccine to pregnant women anymore not that it would help now. Wondering what remedies people recommend other than paracetamol?

Haven’t posted or seen these posts in a while! Hope you’re all doing well 🩷 24 weeks today! Feels like a milestone for sure. Movements are very clear now but nights are becoming more difficult as I’m waking up through the night it’s super annoying! I had the worst rib pain for about a week and couldn’t go to my usual exercise classes etc but I’m finally feeling better now. Has anyone had rib pain?

I am going to Seville in about 4 weeks and I need to get a fit to fly letter. Midwife said only GP can do it - has anyone done this before? When I mentioned to GP they said they charge??

WanderWalker · 04/10/2025 11:31

@Sunshinemoom I hope you’re okay. I imagine that will have shaken you up. hopefully baby stays put.
Reading your post has made me want to get more organised with my hospital bag!
Rest up ❤️ x

Yeah it really did. Fingers crossed he stays put to at least 38 weeks. Doesn’t hurt to have it ready just in case x

I sometimes get rib pain just before a big bump growth spurt.

fit to fly letter/certificates are generally paid for as they aren’t an NHS service. How much they cost depends on your surgery as it’s technically private work so hopefully yours doesn’t cost too much

@Sunshinemoom i have a stitch as well and had a Brixton hicks episode at the weekend I mentioned to my consultant on Wednesday and she said if that happens again I have to go straight in 😬😬😬. My stitch has been in since 14 weeks and I’m now funnelled to the stitch and got 2.5cm below it. I’ve been told to rest up. They haven’t done any Labour predictions though my next goal is 28 weeks x

Crazy isn’t it. With my first pregnancy I just took Brixton hicks a part of pregnancy, yet this time round every time I have them been told to go in. Got a good amount below the stitch, mine went from 2.1cm before stitch up to 2.4-2.5cm when they check the other day. How are you finding resting? When I’m on the sofa I try have my legs elevated. How far along are you now? This is me just counting down until 28 weeks, then I feel like it be 30 weeks I’ll count down to x

Gizmo1983 · 05/10/2025 07:26

@Sunshinemoom im 24 weeks and 6 days ( every precious day counts lol) how far are you? My length is 2.5 as well lol hopefully that’s a lucky number. I am sick to death of resting I go out for the odd meal with the hubby as long as we can park outside the door. Drs have said 28 weeks should be my goal. I get scanned every 2 weeks at the minute so I make that my mini goals. I was the same didn’t think too much if the braxton hicks and they did go nuts last Saturday, I think having a stitch makes u more prone to them if u read in some forums. I’m struggling to find anything left I haven’t watched on Netflix 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I can’t concentrate to read so haven’t done much of that. I wish I was good at knitting or crochet but I’m rubbish lol xxx

Getting closer every day!! I’m 26 weeks 1 day. Let’s hope it’s our lucky number 🤞🏾 I totally get that! It’s hard doing nothing all the time. I enjoy the 5 minute school run just so it’s something else to do. I have my baby shower next weekend but thankfully I can sit the whole time. Yeah the scans can be the mini goals. I don’t have a scan now until 32 weeks but see my consultant again In a couple of weeks. Yeah I’ve heard that. Can cause irritable uterus I’ve been reading. Yeah only so much you can watch. 😩 I’m rubbish at knitting and crochet as well 🤣 xx

Gizmo1983 · 05/10/2025 08:45

@Sunshinemoom oh wow u r so close to 28 weeks just keep doing what you’re doing. I read lying on your left side and lots of water can settle the braxtons but it didn’t work for me lol xxx only 5 people know I’m pregnant I’m that scared lol so no baby shower for me yet lol xxx

Jadeypie · 05/10/2025 08:51

@Gizmo1983 aww sorry to hear your in the same situation as @Sunshinemoom! Hopfully use both get to the end but if not what we have now at the hospitals is amazing!!

I dont see my consultant till 31 weeks, im nearly 28 now, the progesterone has seems to do the trick regarding my cervix. It was only 20 to start with.

I find my braxton kicks off like if ive been shopping or walked somwhere or picking the bloody toys up off the floor xxx

Yeah not far off now. I will try that next time see if it makes any difference or not. I totally get being scared I had already planned my baby shower but knowing about my cervix and getting the stitch. I’ve only had mine in the last month. Xx

@Jadeypieyeah hospitals are great now what they can do! Not far off now seeing your consultant. Happy the progesterone is working!! Xxx

Gizmo1983 · 05/10/2025 11:10

@Jadeypie thats brill news I’m sure in recent studies they’ve found progesterone is pretty much as effective as a stitch and you’re nearly at the magic 28 weeks woohoo. I look forward to not taking progesterone anymore I do t like inserting it lol xxx

Sorry to hear you are all having a touch time. In relation to cervix length, how was this picked up? Is it something they look for at the scans?

So for me was picked up at my anomaly rescan, they couldn’t see my placenta so asked to do an internal scan which found I had a shorter cervix. So by chance it was picked up, however I should of always had my cervix scanned as my previous birth I was fully dilated but had emergency c section as my son got stuck, so there was always a chance that my cervix was damaged in the process. However I wasn’t referred in my booking in appointment with my midwife. Reading up on it. It’s not routinely checked. Only checked if had previous LETTZ procedure, cone Biopsy, fully dilated then c section, had a previous pre term birth before 34 weeks or miscarriage after 16 weeks, or surgery on the womb x
