Does anyone feel like they can’t sleep or struggle to sleep. I’m up for hours every night. Or waking at 2/3am then can’t sleep again 😴

4am for me last two nights, so end up for the day. I’ve just stopped antisickness tablets which I think it the culprit.

However, my first pregnancy there was a lot of insomnia - think I slept on the sofa most of it in 2nd 3rd trimester.

How you finding stopping the antisickness? I’m not sure whether to brave it when my next load run out.

yeah I remember having it third trimester everything starting so much earlier this time round

I’ve gradually reduced from 4 to 1 over the last 6 weeks. I’ve just tried and seen how I got on and so far so good. I just need some energy as they are wiping me out and I’m moving next month so I need to be able to sort the house out so it’s not a big panic towards the end.

also finding everything much sooner/difficult earlier - have pelvis pain, which I didn’t have before.

Oh happy got on well. I’ve managed to drop to 3 a day which is better than 5 I was taking. Totally get needing the energy. How you feeling for moving?

yeah everything is happening a lot earlier this time!

Grand for moving, just looking forward to it being over - we’ve been waiting from Feb so a long time coming. I’m gradually packing a box or two a week so it doesn’t feel like a huge task.

The house is also turnkey so nothing needing done other than buying new stuff to fill it!

i also think I’ll finish up for work early December to try and give myself some time to relax pre babe!

I had terrible insomnia for the first 15 weeks or so. Since then sleep has been much better even with regular turning. Bad pain/cramps in my thighs is bothering me. Was feeling grateful for sleep until last night. Back awake at 3.30am, couldn't get comfortable. Is anyone taking magnesium for the cramps? I've heard it helps.

@dubkitten great news on your check up..was that with the midwife?

Was in the maternity hospital, seen a midwife and a doctor. Even got a little peek at baby. Back in the hospital in 4 weeks for the 28w check and the glucose test, the doc said after that they may switch me to combined care between then and my GP

Agree with others that sleep is getting difficult between the constant needing a wee, leg cramps and my body deciding that 4.32am is the perfect time to get up for the day for the past week. Can’t even nap when the opportunity presents as my brain doesn’t want to switch off

very much do not remember all this starting this early in my other two pregnancies

Jadeypie · 25/09/2025 14:46

1000% agree with everything starting much earlier! I wonder if thats common? Just one of those things no one talks about?

I had a lovely 40 min nap before that felt like hours woke up slobbering 🤣 im starting to think maybe its time to start sleeping on the couch xx

dubkitten · 25/09/2025 15:08

Pre pregnancy I never napped! Now I’m even napping in our wellness room in work on my lunch break 🙈😂

I found you all! Thought the last thread went quiet! 🤣

I had my glucose test this morning. It tasted fine and I had a nice nap in the waiting room until it was time to go back in.

I’m also in the sleep-deprived club. The last few nights the almost-cramp and restless legs has been awful, especially on top of the hip pain I was already having!

25 weeks today. Yea, they said they would be sending from my fist midwife appointment after checking my BMI and seeing how old I am. So I knew I’d be going. It wasn’t a fun morning - you’re not allowed breakfast before you go!!!

Hopefully all goes smoothly for you. The best way to do it pack a bit at the time. A lot easier!

yes definitely go off December and relax pre baby!

I was told at my booking appointment that I would need one due to my BMI and age. Will be having it at my 28w check up

Slightly jealous you found the taste okay. I’ve got mine on Monday and find myself dreading it because our Trust (at least in the ones I had in other pregnancies) have a rank raspberry flavoured drink that they ask you to drink 330ml of in 5 minutes. It’s enough to make me feel like throwing up as I’m not great with raspberry flavoured stuff at the best of times, nevermind after fasting from the night before 😩

Oh that’s rubbish! Mine was orange flavoured and it was fine! Slightly odd after taste but nothing too noticeable. It was the sweetness that was a bit much - bit cloying in the throat.

RealTealQueen · 26/09/2025 10:21

Never a good sign when they phone you the day after a blood test! I’ve got gestational diabetes - have to go back to hospital to see a nurse on Monday. sigh

WildFinch · 26/09/2025 11:38

Ah sorry to hear this @RealTealQueen have you had it in previous pregnancies? No one has mentioned the test to me, does everyone have it?

I’ve never got this far in a previous pregnancy. I was kind of expecting it to be honest - I’m not the skinniest person in the first place! No, I don’t think everyone has it. I got referred because of my BMI and age. X

Ah that sucks. I had it in my second pregnancy and half expecting to have it this time. If you haven’t already, I’d recommend the Gestational Diabetes UK Facebook group and following the recipe tips etc on there I was lucky enough to control it all via diet.

Try not to feel too bad about it as it’s a completely normal thing and there is nothing you could’ve done to prevent it - it’s all the fault of the placenta!

Got my friends husband to put the cot together (mainly so I can use it for storage 😂). Decided I needed someone to test it out 😁😁

Haha probably thinks you’ve splashed out on a lovely new bed for them 🤣❤️

My dog is so confused at the minute. Every time I talk to my bump he runs over like I’m talking to him 🤣 I don’t know if it’s because I use the same tone of voice or because I am saying ‘baby’. He’ll be fast asleep in his bed and I’llI say “oh hi baby you’re awake” (when the baby moves) and my dog runs over like “yes mum I’m awake, I’m here! What can I do for you?” 🤣
