@jmrpinkie i was reading up on preemies a few days ago as i like to be prepared ( on Reddit) and a nicu nurse posted and she said when they hear a 33+ weeker is due to arrive they are pleased as it’s usually just feed and grow as well as a bit of oxygen that made me feel much better xxx

Gizmo1983 · 04/12/2025 07:02

Hey @Sunshinemoom how are u feeling today. Yes yesterday was a big shock. They don’t want to see me about my heart again until 18 December so they can’t be that worried. 38 weeks for me is 5 Jan they still want me to have a natural birth just with the epidural, I take blood thinners so I have to be 12 hours clear of my last dose of them to get the epidural so if I go before then not sure what they will want to do I didn’t ask if already had so much info. Xxx

jmrpinkie · 04/12/2025 06:43

@Sunshinemoom and @Gizmo1983 yeah they admitted me last night. So should get the second dose of steroid later this afternoon fingers crossed. Yes good has told me they can re-seal which I’m hopefully maybe is the case given I’m not actively leaking. And they did say the test can give false positives but less likely given both of mine were positive but you never know.

you’re right though best to make sure everything is ok and if they think for any reason she needs to come then that’s obviously the best decision for both. And as they have said 32 weeks is still a good strong baby.

@jmrpinkiefingers crossed. Hopefully it re seals but you are in the best place possible at least. Could be like me test positive but nothing happens so end up in limbo. Just never know with these tests.

yeah 32 weeks is a great gestation!

@Gizmo1983hey! Yeah I’m feeling ok just tired been up since 2am unable to sleep 😴 how are you today? Yeah true actually if happy to see you in a couple of weeks. At least can still have natural birth just epidural. I wonder if there meds which can stop you bleeding as much if your ever in that situation. It’s always the next day you think of more questions to ask them ccc

Gizmo1983 · 04/12/2025 07:28

@Sunshinemoom i woke up at 3 just starting to feel really sleepy again now. Lol so true it’s always later you think if stuff to ask 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Hopefully just a chilled lazy day in the house for me woke up with a headache but think it’s just from the stress of yesterday. I did almost 5000 steps yesterday in the hospital that’s the most I’ve done in 8 months lol. Are you just living a normal life now or still resting? Xxx

@Gizmo1983totally get feeling sleepy again. I’m going back to bed once I’ve done the school run in a hour. Yeah it is. I’ve had to start writing my questions on my phone when I think of them after the appointment. Oh hope your headache ends up shifting for you. I’m so unfit now. And a mixture some days I rest other days I’m more active started to walk the 10 minute school run again to get out the house. Last night I walked around Ikea for dinner with my mum and son. So today I’ll try rest. You? Xxx

As thank you for sharing @Gizmo1983 that is really reassuring. 32+4 today so hopefully can make it further. Hopefully the growth scan shows everything is ok too.

you are also having a tough time - I got to sleep at 3 you woke up at 3 😂hope you get some rest. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Hopefully you can continue to discuss soon because yes guys the questions - it’s so annoying after when you’re like oh yeah this this and this and most of the time you’ve no idea who to call!!

Jadeypie · 04/12/2025 09:24

WildFinch · 04/12/2025 10:22

@Jadeypie my first trimester symptoms have come back! Nausea, crazy sense of smell, I walked into a shop yesterday and could smell the chap behind the counters breath 😭 luckily my mood has been fairly stable but quick to cry and had a few rage filled says.
I'm sorry your PGP is getting you down, I am very grateful I'm just achy and stiff it's still manageable.

Hope @Sunshinemoom @jmrpinkie @Gizmo1983 are doing ok, sounds like a real rollercoaster for you all!

dubkitten · 04/12/2025 10:32

Reading the last few posts has given me a wake up call to stop moaning 😂😂 I still have nausea, heartburn and can’t walk far without feeling uncomfortable- but that’s nothing compared to what a few of ye have being going through

jmrpinkie · 04/12/2025 10:53

Oh gosh yeah you have to moan no matter what!!! We’d go nuts!!

@Jadeypie it was that I had a small bit of brown discharge. I honestly was so shocked. Had no concerns about my waters or baby so I guess it could be related or maybe just lucky coincidence who knows.

No this is my second. It really didn’t look like my mucus plug it was very much my usual discharge but a bit brown but who knows - maybe it looks different for different people and different stages/pregnancies. Mine was very mucusy and bloody last time! TMI but hell we’re about to all have babies!!

they have basically told me today I wouldn’t be recommended to go beyond 36/37 weeks and they would induce me but mg mind is going a bit crazy now at induction that early vs elective section. You are having a section @Jadeypie ?

Jadeypie · 04/12/2025 14:13

Never too much information hahaha.

sounds like a lot to take in and decide what's making you worry between the induction/ c section?

No not if baby stays head down. This is my second first was straight forward but since him they have discovered I have a septate womb and my cervix was short in the beginning so its not been as straight forward as first time. I will probably just go vbac. Plus I dont fancy a c section I dont think I would do well with recovery side of things xxx

I think with the induction it’s that it would be at 37 weeks which is super early and obviously less likely to work. With the section I think I’m generally just terrified of surgery and further intervention. So I mean all things that can happen with vaginal birth also I guess just I see it different. First birth was vaginal and very straightforward.

37 is a good gestation for.baby to.come he/she will be fully.formed and able. Totally get your worries tho. All you can do is follow drs advise.and choose what's best.for.you and your baby xxx

My first was born 36+6 and fine apart from needing some time in the light box. Second born was 37+4 and we were home after 24 hours (section). definitely fine gestation wise

…and writing that has me nervous about being able to reach 39+2 for this section

Was your first by section/induction? I have heard so many positive section stories and that this is actually why the rates of elective sections are going up.

First was emergency section (as was the second but only because he decided to start labour spontaneously 2 weeks before his planned eviction so classed as emergency)

How you getting on @jmrpinkie?

I’m doing ok. They have said I can go home today. Infection markers are low, keep taking antibiotics for 10 days. If anything changes, discharge, signs of infection etc to come back in. They said if I go in to labour and baby is in the right position and I’m doing well no reason I can’t have a vaginal delivery. But either way given what has happened I will be induced at 37 weeks so change of plan but I guess this feels like a good position.

I have health anxiety anyways so I’m naturally anxious about infection and going home now but I think I’m equipped to know what to look for and I come straight back. There is nothing they can do here at the moment.

how are you doing?

Are you happy to be going home? At least can see your other child. At least got the antibiotics to help as well. Yeah any changes go back even if you think wasting their time better to be over cautious then under cautious. At least baby is in right position if you go into labour now. So another 5 odd weeks and they induce you?

I am mixed emotions about being home. I’m hopefully I’ll sleep better, relax more and feel better being home but also a lot of comfort comes with having all the amazing checks and staff at the hospital but I think this is the right decision. I’m 10 mins from the hospital and as you say anything worrying me I will be straight back in. Think my trip on weds has taught me that.

exactly - 5ish weeks and induced. Which will be another thing to think about but if we can get to then, that is amazing for baby girl.
