@Sunshinemoom thank you.

@Nynm23 I was worried how it would affect my menstrual cycle too. I was a little blind sided to be honest when he asked about it. I hadn’t really done any research into it and he didn’t give any info just that he could do it if I wanted to consider it.

I’ll try and do a bit of online research into it because I don’t see the consultant again now until my c section. I don’t want anymore children and I know after 3 c sections it gets more risky I just don’t want to do it if the side effects are awful. X

I’ve a growth scan with consultant next week, I’ll ask then and report back x

Thank you 😊 it’s such a minefield isn’t it and I didn’t want to end up down a rabbit hole on google xx

Sunshinemoom · 01/12/2025 13:53

@WanderWalker@Nynm23it can make your periods heavier, some of your period is absorbed back through the fallopian tubes but with the tubal ligation with it being cut that blood is then lost through the vagina instead. Not everyone notices a increase but some people do

Jadeypie · 01/12/2025 14:04

Dp is getting a vasectomy, we feel like 2 is enough for us plus i could never do pregnancy again. Not after this one. I feel like my bodys done its job and been through enough I wouldn't want to mess anymore with tubes being tied ect. I also have pcos so wouldn't want to mess that up (not sure if it does like) xxx

Hi all. I hope everyone is good. Just wondering if anyone has been offered or considering being sterilised when they have their c section done? My consultant just mentioned he could do it at the same time, but just wondering if anyone else is having this done and done any research into it? Just wondering if it makes recovery longer etc.

I’ve been considering having my tubes tied at the same time as my section but the last week or so have been thinking about having the coil in whilst I’m on the table instead.

One of my friends had her tubes tied during a section earlier in the year and said recovery was no different to a regular section which is a positive.

I’m just not sure if I want to permanently close the door (although pretty sure it’s last minute wobbles talking there as I mentioned at my booking in appointment about the possibility of having them done).

Sunshinemoom · 02/12/2025 16:22

Was back in hospital today having active contractions sent home again due to cervix being closed. I’ve sent email to my consultant if I can have a c section at 38 weeks not 39 weeks as I’m so fed up. Got statistics. in there. Why I’m worried about the risk of infection with all the cervical exams I’m having. How I’ve had steroid injections now so baby shouldnt have any respiratory issues if delivered before 39 weeks. I’m trying my hardest to enjoy these last few weeks as I know this is my last pregnancy I’m just struggling with no knowing what is going on with these pains.

Gizmo1983 · 02/12/2025 19:54

@Sunshinemoom I can’t see any reason they wouldn’t as you must be exhausted and 38 weeks loads of babies are born at xxx

@Gizmo1983im hoping they agree 🤞🏾 I know nice guidelines say 39 weeks due to respiratory issues, but im hoping with the steroid injections that shouldn’t be a issue now. Plus he would be at term! Also, I won’t be putting as much pressure on the services going in weekly anymore. The doctor did say yesterday he thinks it’s my stitch irritating my uterus hence the pains. Xx

Silly question - how can your cervix open if you have the stitch in place? Fingers crossed the consultant agrees to your request 🤞🏻

Not a silly question at all. And yes as a whole the stitch should keep the cervix closed, however if you go into labour you can dilate through the stitch which can cause your cervix to tear. So even though the doctor say my cervix is closed, as I’m losing my mucus plug it be open the tiniest amount they just can’t see it with their eyes. And this is what I’ve brought up to the doctors with my first son I within two hours was at 6 cm and I did that at home because the pains wasn’t that bad because I have quite a high pain tolerance. I don’t want this to happen this time round and I get to the hospital even if I go in early by the time you’re seen at Triage and seen a doctor I am always seen within an hour thankfully because of being high risk but that could’ve already caused the damage in that time. This is why they want me to go in every time I have some type of pain

I have a c-section booked for 38 weeks because of gestational diabetes so I don’t see why they won’t do yours then. Hope everything settles down again. You must be so stressed.

Jadeypie · 03/12/2025 09:45

I dont blame you!! @Sunshinemoom its just none stop for you and your body really does seem to be trying to do something! If it was me I would tell them to take it out? Surly you can its your body and decision who nos you might get it out the pains might ease and you get further along without the stitch. I crnt remever the reason for your c section? Xxx

Yeah I hoping they will 🤞🏾 so do I. I’ve woken up today and gone just try make the best out of the situation don’t spend your last few weeks stressed as that’s no good for baby or me. So I’m trying to do one thing a day which makes me happy

Yeah it’s like it’s fighting against the stitch and they won’t touch it as I’ve opted for elective c section. If I was trying vaginally it be coming out between 36-37 weeks. And my first birth progressed really quickly but my little boy kept getting stuck and they kept losing his heart rate between contractions so was rushed in for emergency c section so this time around just wanted the elective so didn’t have to go through that again. It happened to be down to the shape of my pelvis or something xxx

Ohhh my mum suffers with somthing like that , the three of us was born c section for that reason with her pelvis.

Oh well hopfully they listen to you and bring your c section forward. As pp said they are getting theirs earlier. Its mad how different Areas operate and hospitals and they dont all sing from the same book. Xxx

Oh okay I never even thought about it before having kids. Just thought they could all get through the pelvis.

I hope so. Once I know something I’ll let everyone know. I think it’s because Nice guidelines recommends elective C-sections to be done at 39 weeks but if there’s a medical reason it can be done before then so I just need my hospital to agree that this is a medical reason and to do it early! Xxx

Jadeypie · 03/12/2025 11:24

Yeh me neither!! Oh I do hope they agree for you, it seems like a medical reason to me. And as you say you've had steroids and stuff for his lungs. Fingers crossed for you xxx

Hey @Sunshinemoom ugh bless you you’ve really been through it, had my consultant appt today I’m getting induced at 38 weeks as of today. Long story short i have a fast heart always have so few weeks ago my cardiologist did a ecg I heard nothing so assumed all was ok they always are today at my antenatal appt she was looking through my notes and turned out this scan showed my heart is functioning 5% lower than it should all went a bit mad they were amazing actually a gynae cardiologist turned up in minutes I had the lot ecgs blood tests you name it. It’s all come back ok thank god so I have another ecg 18 December but due to this and my age they are Inducing me 38 weeks. I also have to have an epidural before they do it as they don’t want me in any pain as it will increase my heart rate. So that’s my little bit of drama 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️.
good news baby has stayed on the growth curve and also can u believe my cove arrived yesterday so it’s here in time woohoo so it came before the car seat after all that so I could have got the silver cross car seat 😂😂😂

jmrpinkie · 03/12/2025 18:48

@Gizmo1983what a shock for you. Especially after you heard nothing from your previous ecg. Happy they were amazing though after reading the report. When are you 38 weeks?

interesting they want you to have epidural to help your heart rate. How are you feeling after all this?

happy to hear baby staying in the growth curve. That arrived quickly. How funny. I bet if you had got the car seat it would of turned up later 🤣🤣 Sod’s Law

Hey. I didn’t rupture my membranes Prematurely but I did test positive for pre term labour back when I was 30 weeks pregnant. Was in hospital 5 days to
receive steroids and be monitored. Thankfully baby stayed put so far. Have you had your results back?

Oh gosh I’m so sorry @Sunshinemoom from this thread you’ve really been through it. Glad to hear baby is still in there but exhausting for you especially with a kiddo already. Yeah so the tests for waters and the test to check if you’ll go in to labour in 7 days have both been positive. I’ve not had a huge gush of water from my membranes or anything so I would have even known. No symptoms. They’ve given me one steroid in injection and antibiotics.

Guess they admitted you now? Those steroids injections hurt but good for baby. Hopefully baby stays put to get second injection in. And good they started antibiotics. How are you feeling? It’s a shock when they come back positive and don’t expect it.

Gizmo1983 · 04/12/2025 06:38

Hey @jmrpinkie have they admitted you? I don’t know too much about it but they can re seal can’t they or you could go into labour. Is the main thing keeping an eye on your infection markers take sure you don’t get an infection worst case you are at a good gestation. You’re better getting out a healthy baby earlier than a poorly baby later xxx

jmrpinkie · 04/12/2025 06:43

@Sunshinemoom and @Gizmo1983 yeah they admitted me last night. So should get the second dose of steroid later this afternoon fingers crossed. Yes good has told me they can re-seal which I’m hopefully maybe is the case given I’m not actively leaking. And they did say the test can give false positives but less likely given both of mine were positive but you never know.

you’re right though best to make sure everything is ok and if they think for any reason she needs to come then that’s obviously the best decision for both. And as they have said 32 weeks is still a good strong baby.
