@Jadeypie great idea to wait till Black Friday i may just get a bargain 😁 not too desperate for the pushchair but just realised I will need the car seat to leave hospital lol. Xxx

@Sunshinemoom definitely safest to get checked you’ve got us all on the edge of our seats lol. Is your back any better ? Good that they swabbed just to cover everything xx

Yeah. They never said anything about my stitch so I am going to call up and ask was everything ok as normally they mention it! This baby got me on the edge of my seat. It’s no better it’s hurting so much. I just got home and put hot water bottle on it eating a subway 🙈 xx

My section has been pencilled in for 30 December but with the caveat that it could be brought forward depending on what happens with growth scans and my glucose levels. Exciting and incredibly daunting at the same time!

Oh exciting but nerve wracking at the same time 🙈

@Sunshinemoom i wonder if your body is trying to dilate and it’s literally the stitch stopping it. You will be able to dilate a bit which is why some mucus plug can come out it would explain your pain. Xxx

I’m wondering that. I know it’s got shorter. I definitely believe if I didn’t have the stitch I would’ve had baby by now. Explains the pains though! Xx

Gizmo1983 · 20/11/2025 11:24

@Sunshinemoom i guess the stitch is doing its job just if the pain gets worse or u bleed get yourself straight n back up there as u dont want to tear. Just shows you definitely needed that stitch in though. take it easy, although I’m like you I need to move round or my pelvis is agony xxx

Yeah it’s doing its job thankfully. Yeah I will do. Just before I left and went toilet wiped and had a bit orangey pink discharge, I showed the doctor, but he wasn’t concerned he said if I get any more to go back. I think that’s what makes me nervous is I don’t wanna go into labour and damage my cervix part of me wishes they would take it out now but I know why they’re not. Yeah if didn’t have stitch defo would have had him and it was needed! Yeah getting the balance of moving around but not over doing it! Xxx

Gizmo1983 · 20/11/2025 11:40

@Sunshinemoom when I had my stitch in the discharge was orangey and I was told that was part of my mucus discharge It was like that about 2 weeks if im
on my feet lots then I get an orangey tinge it’s weird isn’t it.
youre at such a good gestation now and he’s such a good size if he arrives he the. He should just need to grow and learn how to feed. You’ve hit the magic 32 weeks 😁😁😁. Have they given u a date to get your stitch out they normally take them out about 36/37 weeks. They were taking mine out at 37+4 but then changed their mind and are now taking it out 36 weeks exactly xxx

@Gizmo1983oh interesting! I’ve never had it before. Yeah it’s so weird!

yeah we’ve made it to a good gestation now 😅 he’s a good size as well! I’m due to have a c section so they do it when they do the c section. This is what scares me if I go into pre term labour I will have the stitch in. I know they said to get straight in and they cut it asap. At least you have a date when yours is out! I might as my mw next week if I can see consultant again who did my stitch and ask if I can get it out beforehand with everything going on xxx

@Thegirlhasnamechanged hope you don’t mind me asking but have you been diagnosed with GD or are they still in the process of testing you?

Don’t mind at all. I’ve been diagnosed with GD and having some issues getting my fasting glucose in check (which is why they said the section date might move forward).

I was just diagnosed with it at 33 weeks 😢 and struggling a bit to be honest. Things I thought would be safe to eat are spiking me.
I’ve already got an elective c section planned for other reasons.

How are you finding it?

Diagnosed at 28 weeks and now 33+4 but still struggling with it. It’s my second pregnancy with GD so I get the ‘theory’ but it’s a massive learning curve and my body has annoyingly started not to tolerate some food which I was fine with in the first place. I knew I was too lucky to tolerate potatoes! Protein, eggs and veg are my go to but it’s kind of irritating as sometimes you just want to be able to pick something from the cupboard rather than have to think so much about what you’re putting in your body.

Are you on any medication for it? I know a lot of forums are very diet controlled focused but there is no shame whatsoever about having to take medication for it (I’m on overnight insulin as my fasting readings are just not playing ball in the slightest).

definitely recommend the Gestational Diabetes UK website for recipes and they have a facebook group too which is alright. Happy to listen to any rants or whatever

I’m so looking forward to having a jacket potato when this baby is out as it’s all I want to eat - damn you GD!

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 20/11/2025 14:43

Section is nothing to do with GD here either. I’ve had two EMCS and don’t fancy a VBAC or another EMCS so fully opting in for an elective this time

WanderWalker · 20/11/2025 16:31

@Thegirlhasnamechanged aw I feel for you having it from 28weeks. I know I don’t have many weeks left, but it now feels like an eternity with this. I cried for the first few days. I had none of the markers, no history of it, not had it in previous pregnancies so it was a shock to find out I have it. Mine was picked up on routine urine tests and then the GTT. I love potatoes too 😢 I was shocked at just what foods can spike you as well so it’s definitely been a lesson.
I’m not on medication at the moment they want me to try and control it with diet first and if that doesn’t work out then it will be medication.

thank you for the advice I really appreciate it. I’m hoping to get my head around it soon. For me it’s the organisation of it all too when I’m already tired. Planning in advance etc.
I’m the same 2 EMCS and also didn’t want to go down the VBac route, so I’ve gone elective too. X

Sunshinemoom · 20/11/2025 17:31

@Gizmo1983do you know if you can have a bath with the stitch? I keep forgetting to ask the mw and consultants when I see them. But with the pain I could really do with one! Xx

I would get in one, surly you can because what about people who have them and dont have showers? And sound like a relaxing bath would do you wonders! I know the idea of the stitch is to keep baby in but it really does sound like your body is wanting baby out so will they take it out sooner? Sounds like the stich is stopping what your body wants to do isnt it. I dont no how your coping my head would be up my arse xxx

I read that you shouldn’t really as could introduce infection. But I wouldn’t add bubble bath or anything just want the bath 😅but with the pains I’m getting all I want is a nice relaxing bath. I have no idea. I’m trying to find my consultants secretary email address to ask this exact question is it worth this stitch coming out early because I don’t want it to damage my cervix because this baby is determined to come early! I honestly don’t know how I’m coping.! Xx

Gizmo1983 · 21/11/2025 07:57

@Sunshinemoom hey sweet I was told no baths as they can let infection in. once stitch was out I was allowed baths then.
when I was struggling I used to sit on my shower floor making sure my girly bits weren’t on it and just let the shower run over me. Then hubby used to help me get up I did eventually invest in a sheer seat which was heaven.
how r u feeling today xxx

I thought that Be the case! I ended up having a long shower and sitting on the side of the shower it’s helped a lot thankfully. I can’t wait to have baths again though! It’s the one thing I miss a lot. Still getting pains but I’m ok. How are you doing? Xx

How lovely @dubkitten! Does that change your EDD at all? I've got a growth scan in a few weeks, I'll be 33 weeks then.

Gizmo1983 · 21/11/2025 15:21

Hey @Sunshinemoom omg me neither a bath will be heaven and to be able to go where I want without worrying will it be too much pressure on the stitch or how short is my cervix.
baby has been a tinker today I normally feel her bumping about but she was so quiet 🤫 tried all the tricks so thought i was going up to triage I was literally in the queue for the phone to be answered and she started to move and has had had a good little kick. I’m sick of all this stress now just want her safe in my arms
@dubkitten how wonderful and what a fantastic size bet you’re chuffed to bits 😁
