Hello ladies, how is everyone getting on?
I’m 27 weeks tomorrow, but I don’t understand how that isn’t 3rd trimester??
I’ve had leaky boobs over the weekend but from googling I can’t start expressing colostrum just yet!
Overall I’m still feeling pretty well and know I’ve been lucky throughout the pregnancy but I cried at work today anyway, and am just so ready to be done now!
Have a growth scan later which I’m looking forward to!

It’s mad the way the weeks / months work:

WildFinch · 20/10/2025 18:51

@PinkFlamingo888 how was your scan? I've got a growth scan tomorrow after the midwife measured my bump big.

@PinkFlamingo888 how was your scan? I've got a growth scan tomorrow after the midwife measured my bump big.

The scan was all good thank you. Very rushed compared to the 12 and 20 weeks and no option of photos, but the scan was unexpected anyway and I know they’re busy so I’m not too disappointed!
no one knew why we were there for a growth scan but they had no concerns!

Good luck with yours! No one has measured my bump yet but I’ve got my 28 week midwife appointment next week so I assume they start then? I’ve also got my anti-d injection then which I’m a bit nervous for!

Anti D is fine, just a bit stingy - think I’ve had 4 and no issues beyond that from memory.

Nynm23 · 20/10/2025 19:39

Just had word from day care that my DD has been exposed to an active case of chickenpox..my mum doesn’t remember if I have had chickenpox before so have to keep DD off daycare (again - was off last week for HFM) until the GP can blood test me to check for immunity 🫠 really not what I needed this week!

Oh glad it went well! Midwife measured mine at my 24 week appointment but admitted she couldn't quite tell where the top of my womb was to start measuring from. Apparently protocol says I have to have a growth scan as the measurement she did get put me at 28 weeks instead of 24. I'll see tomorrow, nice to see baby girl again anyway.

PinkFlamingo888 · 20/10/2025 21:43

@WildFinch yeah always nice to see them again! We don’t know what we’re having so had to look away while she got some of the measurements!
Let us know how it all goes, hopefully her measurements were just a bit off and you’ll be able to relax!

Oh no!! Sounds like she crnt catch a break. If she does get them least its before the baby is here and not when baby is little and everyone gets them! Hopfully you've had them too because I know that can be a worry!! Those nursery's are just a nightmare for illness and germs rnt they. Xx

How are you all coping with work?

I feel completely useless. I have no concentration and I feel exhausted every day now. I’ve never felt tiredness like this! I don’t know how some of you are on your feet all day. Mine is an office job and I have to literally drag myself up in a morning and then feel like I’m on another planet 😣 I said I would work to my due date 🤣🤣🤣 …yeah that is NOT happening. I am already so ready to be off work.

I’m not coping at all and I’m working from home and only working 4 hours a day. If I was doing anymore I would be even worse. I literally finish work and nap until school pick up.

when you thinking going off? I’m off in 5.5 weeks thank god I can’t wait

That’s how I feel. It seems to have hit me out of no where. If I sit down for more than 10 minutes I’m asleep.

I’ve just booked some annual leave off so my last day will now be in 5 weeks, so around the same time as you, but that already feels too far away!
I’ll be almost 36 weeks when I go off 😐

Some days it’s a struggle and others it’s fine - all depending on my sleep the night before. If I am in the office we have a wellness room I can go to on lunch and have a nap so that helps if really needed. I am hoping to work until 23rd Dec (due 15th Jan) and just break up with everyone else at Christmas.

I have my gestational diabetes test tomorrow morning - am I allowed to eat before it? Some mornings I have breakfast biscuits before getting into the car if I feel nauseous

No, you have to fast. Mine was 9am and I wasn’t allowed to eat from midnight. They test your fasting blood sugars and then your blood sugars after you have the drink. It was actually my fasting numbers that were the issue so they definitely need to know you haven’t eaten / drunk anything other than water.

curliegirlie · 22/10/2025 11:00

My MW said the fasting has to be from 8.30 the previous evening (I also have a 9am appt)

Yeah the exact same with me. Hit out of no where.

no long now then until you be off!! I’m definitely counting down the day

Thanks @RealTealQueen and @curliegirlie - you would think they would have said something!

Was having a look on their website and came across this pregnancy guide which is quite useful:

As others have said, no food before it and only water to drink. Once you have your second blood draw (2 hours after the drink) you can eat. I hated every minute so hopefully yours isn’t too bad

Confusedmermaid1 · 22/10/2025 15:26

I’ve just had a message from a health visitor who will be coming to the house in 2 weeks for a visit. I’m quite surprised as I didn’t think that would happen so early, I’ll only be 30 weeks. Maybe it’s quite soon because of Christmas?
Hope she’s not expecting to see anything baby related because we haven’t started the nursery and it’s like a dumping ground at the moment before we get new flooring down after DH gets a bonus end of the month 😅
Is this happening for anyone else?

Yes. I had my health visitor come last week and I was just under 30 weeks. It seems like that’s the new way they are doing it.
Don’t worry we are in the process of renovating and not got a single baby thing put together and no nursery yet! House upside down! She was not fussed and didn’t ask to see a single baby thing.
Just gave safe sleep advice, feeding advice, gave our red book out etc. I was completely stressed thinking she would want to see the crib up etc, but she was really lovely 😊

Confusedmermaid1 · 22/10/2025 15:54

@WanderWalker thank you that’s really reassuring 😅 I’ll stop stressing!

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 22/10/2025 16:04

I got the red book in the post the other week so who even knows if my area are doing health visitor checks prebirth anymore
