I had a scan at 5 weeks on Friday. During the scan and on my report she stated the sac was empty. Now looking at my picture I’m sure I can see something in the sac?? Do you see anything or am I being silly.. Thankyou

I don’t op
and even if I did, I would always trust the sonographer over me

they don’t say something like this unless very sure

I am sorry

its fine, she said my pregnancy looks to be progressing perfectly, something about the ring on the outside of the sac? Meaning it’s very healthy or something I don’t know lol, I have another scan Saturday, and another one a week later. My HCG has been doubling perfectly and I’m on progesterone. I’m not worried just nosey lol xx

They said everything is absolutely fine even
though you have a blighted ovum?

Was this a private scan if only at 5 weeks

I’m 5 weeks pregnant. Normally don’t see anything in the sac until 6 weeks. I dunno where you got blighted ovum from😂

An empty sac pregnancy is a blighted ovum

I agree that at 5 weeks it’s normally too early to see anything in the sac. Not always, sometimes you can see an embryo, but it’s not unusual to see nothing.

But you absolutely cannot say you will not miscarry. It is possible nothing will ever develop in the sac. And it’s also wrong to say HCG doesn’t double with blighted ovums. Mine did.

I'd say chances are you are right everything will be totally fine. But honestly from experience I just wouldn’t say you won’t miscarry and that if HCG is doubling everything will be fine.

Mushybut · 07/07/2025 08:48

Why were you at the early pregnancy unit?

Because I am with every pregnancy I have.

hcg does not double with a blighted ovum. I haven’t miscarried and won’t be made to believe I have at 5 weeks pregnant. Very odd

Well I must be a medical mystery then. Maybe I should get studied. Because I absolutely did have a blighted ovum with HCG that doubled normally until 6 weeks.

I don’t know why you’re being rude to be. I replied once agreeing with you that everything will likely be fine in your case but that i would just advise stating you absolutely will not miscarry.

So did my sister but I didn’t want to point this out to the Op

I never stated i absolutely wouldn’t miscarry. My point was that I wouldn’t miscarry at 5 weeks and that I don’t have a blighted ovum. And my point I replied to you wasn’t about you it was about the other commenter, telling me I have a blighted ovum. But Google literally says HCG doesn’t double with a blighted ovum so god knows. I’ve never had one so Idk
