I have just had a positive result! Looks like I’m due early March 2026.
Second baby for me, eldest is 9 in September.

Thought it would be lovely to have somewhere to share our progress

I am so anxious this time 😔 tests are darker than when I had a miscarriage and I have symptoms when i didn't then so I should feel reassured but any twinges I get on my side i just assume its ectopic. Any advice on how to stop obsessing?

I had some mild pain on one side for a few days (all gone now) and it helped me knowing that with ectopic, pain isn't necessarily felt on one side. It can be back, front pelvic area. There are other symptoms that accompany it and, most importantly, it would've been too early to actually feel the symptoms of ectopic.
Hope this reassures you, too.

Ah that really does, thank you 😊

What’s everyone doing about early scans?
we did with 1st but don’t know this time round with the cost of them 🙈

I get one from EPU due to history but will probably book another private one in between the EPU and the 12 week one as my anxiety will likely be through the roof.

If I didn't have any bad history, I probably would just wait for the 12 week one.

peanutForever · 08/07/2025 11:51

@FlossiePot91ditto @Everythingisokaydue to previous history il be contacting epu next week as drs told me to call when i have a positive test (but il be honest they cant do/see much at 4.5 weeks so im gna call in a few days as usually my epu calls up for a same say appt and knowing im early they probs wont scan

peanutForever · 08/07/2025 11:51

Il also have one inbetween that and the 12w scan

FlossiePot91 · 08/07/2025 11:57

Thats so good that EPU offer them.
I’m so tempted to book the 8+ week one they just seem to have gotten so much more expensive 🙈
I do feel like the first time though until I see them on the screen I won’t be able to tell anyone / reassure myself without one

Peanutbutterjelly123 · 08/07/2025 12:10

@FlossiePot91 we have one on the 16th (will be 6-7 weeks) at the EPU. Like others will probably have a private one between this and the 12 week scan xx

TheFutureIs · 08/07/2025 12:30

@FlossiePot91shop around, it varies from £55 - £100 where I am (Portsmouth)

@FlossiePot91 I’ve booked one at 8 weeks.. as much for reassurance as for impatience and excitement. It’s my first and waiting until 12 weeks feels too long :). For the sake of £75 I decided why not.

FlossiePot91 · 08/07/2025 12:46

I was like this with 1st too, think I just need to suck it up and pay 🤣🤣

LevelOneAgain · 08/07/2025 12:47

Peanutbutterjelly123 · 08/07/2025 07:17

@peanutForever I haven’t got 3+ yet, hoping to get it in the next few days ☺️

@IHaveItPrintedOut @LevelOneAgain sounds like we are on the same timelines. First babies about to turn 3, next one hopefully here in March 🥰

Ah yes! My mind is whirring as to how the 3.5 year age gap will work out in practice for us, when and how to introduce the concept of a sibling, etc!

DobryWieczor · 08/07/2025 12:49

@FlossiePot91 we booked one for £90 (so expensive and the £30 deposit is non-refundable!) for 22 July so 8+1. Currently 6+1 and it feels so far away!

SummerLover89 · 08/07/2025 12:54

I'm not sure about an early scan. Did one at 8 weeks previous pregnancy and all fine but had been a missed miscarriage at 12 week scan (measuring just a few days more than early scan has shown). That's completely from my own experience though, as it won't give me any reassurance. I will see later on and either wait til 12 week scan or maybe cave at 10 weeks once I feel I'm out of the woods since last time.
Feels like a very long wait though 🫣

Everythingisokay · 08/07/2025 13:01

@SummerLover89 sorry you had to go though that. 10 weeks seems like a good compromise.

alliejxx · 08/07/2025 13:57

Tested positive 3 days ago but it was faint but confirmed with a digital today. Due around the middle of March 😊 anyone else already feeling sick all the time

OneHappyBrickSnail · 08/07/2025 14:49

I’m feeling really really anxious today. I had a successful pregnancy 5 years ago and then two back to back losses since. I have few concrete symptoms and I have an early scan at 5+0 this week at the epu which I’m terrified about.

After two fairly strong HCG draws last week I banned myself from testing to help my anxiety and on the whole it is helping but I’m feeling really nervous today.

It is so normal to feel the way you feel given your experience.
I think when we have a stressful day, it's natural to think that it must mean something bad but it doesn't. Pregnancy after any sort of loss, especially multiple, is hard 💕 Take care.

I had an early scan with my son and glad I did as it reassured me (I had a few scans due to bleeding). Then I had an early scan with my 2nd pregnancy. The baby was measuring small so it helped me to prepare myself that it might not end well. 4 weeks later I miscarried. So this time I'm definitely having an early scan again. I'd rather know sooner or later whether the pregnancy is looking good or bad!

Baby26 · 08/07/2025 16:14

@ohthegrandolddukeofyork aw, that's all good to hear! DS (3) is used to older cousins that range from 6-12, and the way they all play together wonderfully, I guess shows that age doesn't matter when it comes to kids! He's also really great at sharing with younger children (when they themselves aren't great sharers yet) so I feel like he's going to be a good big brother (most of the time at least!)😁

MummyV2021 · 08/07/2025 16:22

@OneHappyBrickSnail I completely empathise having had multiple losses myself, it's so nerve wracking! I've still been testing (am 5+0 today) and think I need to stop as they're strong positives but seem to have stopped just at the point of turning into dye stealers and stayed the same the last 3-4 days (on cheap strips) so it's making me even more anxious! I also know that progression doesn't mean anything, as I kept seeing progression way past dye stealers with my last pregnancy in March and actually had a MMC that I discovered at an 8/9 week scan. So I don't know why I'm doing it to myself to be honest! Although I don't have any digitals left and refuse to buy anymore and chase the 3+ as I've done that previously and I find that drives my anxiety even more!

My EPU don't offer early scans unless you have pain or bleeding sadly, so I've booked a private scan for next week when I'll be 6+1. I'd rather wait until 7 weeks to remove any chances of inconclusive results but we're going on a family trip and I want to be able to share the news either way before trying to make excuses for not drinking or using the hot tub. Not gonna lie, I'm terrified that this is going to go the same way. Pregnancy after loss really does suck!

@Peanutbutterjelly123@LevelOneAgainI'm hoping it's going to go well! My son has stopped getting angry when I hold other babies now, he's quite taken with them, which I take as a promising sign. Seen my BIL and SIL do a 2 year gap twice and it's not for me 😅

Everythingisokay · 08/07/2025 17:26

We would've had an age gap of just over 2 years but it wasn't meant to be.
All being well, the age gap will be just under 3 years. Probably not bad as my LO is full of beans 😆
It was hard though when everyone was announcing their #2 and although we desperately wanted to be in the same position, we weren't.
I find that TTC journeys makes me distance myself from some people, same when trying for DC1.
People who haven't experienced the same just don't get it. They simply don't and can say some hurtful things. Trying not to hold the grudge but I just want to keep it all to myself for as long as possible, until I clearly show.

I've booked one for the 27th when I'll be around 9 weeks, to hopefully get some reassurance, my last MMC was at just over 8 weeks but I didn't find out until the 12 week scan, so I don't wanna wait that long again!
.. mines cost £75
