Thank goodness for the NHS badger app, I almost forgot I had a midwife appointment tomorrow! Absolute scatterbrain.

Hope we're all doing well, and feeling more kicks or movements this week!

Hi everyone,
I had my 20 week scan today and managed to get all the required checks for the baby and everything is all good so thats great news! It's another girl aswell which we were told a couple of weeks ago but the midwife confirmed it again today!

The only 'issue' that came up in my scan was that she said I have a marginal placenta previa so iv now been offered a 32 week scan to check if its moved or not and then I guess if it hasn't there will conversations about how to proceed with the birth. She told me that this is a common thing at this stage of pregnancy and at the majority of the time it naturally corrects itself and moves away. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this and if so did it go okay or end up in a c section birth?

Thank you

My friend was told this and the placenta did indeed move my the time of her growth scan, so I wouldn’t worry yet.

At my 20 week scan a couple of weeks ago baby was breech. I know that it’s absolutely no issue this early and baby can move in all directions but it’s still got me a bit paranoid, as I am petrified of the idea of a c section! I will have growth scans later on due to my age so they should hopefully pick up whether baby’s lying in a better position by then 😬🤞🤞🤞

Also very much part of the exhausted and feeling huge for 22 weeks club! I saw Oasis on Saturday which was amazing but God I was tired on the Sunday - and really feeling it from the millions of steps to exit Wembley from our seats proper high up! I had been flirting with the idea of booking Legoland Billund for October half term or a Christmas market at the start of the Xmas holidays but really not sure I have the energy for that!

Oh good luck with your growth scans I hope the baby has moved into the right position for you by the time your fully cooked!!

And yes iv actually asked around and several other people I know including my best friend had exactly the same thing with the placenta which moved on its own later down the line so I'm not going to worry about anything right now especially as the midwife said she wasn't even worried about it. I dont want a c section but if needs must then I will try to make it a positive experience but fingers crossed ill get a water birth this time 🤞😬

Just been invited for my smear test. The pamphlet says if you're pregnant, you should rearrange for 6 weeks post partum. Hoping this is a 'from 6 weeks' rather than at 6 weeks, because I may be slightly busy with a newborn cluster feeding on that week!

youngspinach · 01/10/2025 20:54

Hope everyone is feeling OK this week! I'm doing well, found out we're having a girl which is exciting! I would have been happy either way, but it's nice to know. Our 20 week scan went well last week, although they've asked us to come back in for another growth scan in a couple of weeks as the AC measurement was measuring small, which is slightly worrying but just hoping they're being overcautious and it's not going to be anything serious. Enjoying feeling more movements now as well.

Hbw18 · 03/10/2025 20:51

@Joeylove88 hi, I had the same thing come up at my scan with the placenta being low currently. The sonographer was also confident it’d probably move up and out the way in time so it shouldn’t be an issue. Also having a scan at 32 weeks to check position.
I was a bit nervous as I had been hoping for similar labours to my previous 2…but I guess it’s good to be prepared for this potentially not happening!

Hi hi,
we had the20 week scan a week late and all looking good. Found out it’s a boy which was a shock.
I’ve been a bit under the weather and had flu jab but now I have such achey hips. I don’t know if this is ligament pain or pelvic girdle because it seems so side ache specific or post flu jab?
anyone else having the same?

Congratulations on your boy! How lovely. I had my flu jab yesterday, can't say I've had any side effects, compared to the whooping cough jab that hurt like hell for 3/4 days. I do feel more tired though, but I'm nearly 23 weeks so I'm not sure if that's just being pregnant.

Heading to the office for the first time in months. I can usually work from home but there's a whole team meeting happening in person so im needing to travel in.

I speak to my team every day on Teams but this will be the first time they've seen my bump! They all know im pregnant but haven't 'seen' it, if that makes sense?

That’s funny isn’t it! I’ve been a bit quiet about my pregnancy as I was in the middle of a managed move, so last week was the first time I’ve been more open about it - found out a colleague is just 6 weeks behind me 😂 had a funny moment when me and her were walking back from lunch and another colleague clocked me for the first time, us both looking a bit “bumpier” than usual 🤣

I think most likely to be baby getting bigger and body adjusting, ribs widening, ligaments/joints loosening etc. I started getting aches a bit after 20 weeks. If you are worried though give your GP/midwife a call

We learnt yesterday that we are having a girl

Hbw18 · 07/10/2025 21:54

@Wrenseverywhere I have had sciatic pain for a few weeks now (painful / gets really stiff on one side / in my hip/back - so much worse when sitting for long periods at work or driving). I have self referred to the physio, appt next week, which I am hoping will help! I had pelvic girdle pain with my other two so keen to get some help with my back before that potentially kicks in! I didn’t have back pain before but it has been a bit twingy in between pregnancies!

Was this what you thought you were having? Knowing somehow makes it all a bit more real!

Does everyone have the badger app?
I'm in Greater Manchester, Tameside hospital and we don't have it... feel like I'm missing out!

My friend did it, and she's still friends with her nct buddies (and her son is now 8 years old. I did it, and the only person I kept in touch with i also went to three other (free) classes with, so feel our paths would cross anyway!

Kind of depends on the mix of personalities if you're looking for a group of parent pals. I found the info at nct useful, and helped me think through my birth plan options.

In my area we have something called ‘MyPregnancyNotes’ all my consultation notes, appts, any blood tests or results for anything go on there, they put all baby’s measurements on their, his heart rate, and then after all your postnatal notes go on there as well x

babacheekz · 11/10/2025 22:42

@Tofu35Thank you for letting me know. I was in too minds about it but it seems like it’s left and impact on you and your friend.
ima take a better look but think I will be booking.
hopefully I pick up a friend or 2 which would be a bonus 😊

Tofu35 · 11/10/2025 22:48

@babacheekz I won't be doing nct again this time, but I have signed up for another local pregnancy class. Good for an info refresher but its mainly to get friends who will also be in those early day trenches with me! The more people and things we have access to, the better. Plus the nct group i went to demonstrated how to do a baby wrap sling, and how to change a nappy!

babacheekz · 12/10/2025 20:56

@Tofu35
Thank you as that is something my partner would like to practice as he’s never been around babies so he’s quite overwhelmed at present. Hoping he can connect with some soon to be dads for support.
