hello! 15+2 today
I have got the gender scan as well next week, but main focus is on hopefully seeing the haematoma will be gone/ shrunk!

Saw baby last week but with the iPad scan, so just baby and no measurements/ no overview of other stuff.

This has been such a tough experience so far. I try to journal as much as I can writing to baby, and sorted out old newborn stuff today to allow more excitement, as it’s been so riddled with anxiety so far.

was lovely to see baby wiggling away last week, hope soon we will be out of this stressful phase!

sunshineandrain82 · 26/03/2025 14:49

Just had my 16 week appointment.
for first time I am actually being classed as low risk 🎉

midwife listened to the heart beat today. Very train like.. has my oh and sons hopes up for a boy.

we hopefully find out next week though so fingers crossed.

Cherry1703 · 26/03/2025 15:28

@sunshineandrain82 I've just had my 16 week appt too.. mine was quite underwhelming! My community midwife was very cold! Unfortunately I'm stuck with her for the rest of my pregnancy - great 🙄
I'm glad you had a lovely experience and keep us updated once you find out the gender of the baby 🥰 xx

MyGardenDaisies · 28/03/2025 05:41

Hey! How’s everyone?

got a scan tomorrow. Really really praying for good news on the haematoma side, I know baby is growing as is my belly and we did get a scan for baby just a week ago, so know they are active, but just need this stress to be over.

finding out the gender as well!

Good luck with the scan! They're always so stressful in the run up aren't they 😬

I found out the gender yesterday too! My husband didn't want to know though so I'm having to be very careful not to call the foetus "she" now 😂

KittyFantastica · 28/03/2025 10:38

Hi everyone, checking in after a while.

I’m 15 weeks today, and 16 weeks is where it all started to go wrong for us last time, so the anxiety is extreme and my mental health has taken a nose dive over the last few weeks. Had a specialist appointment on Wednesday and everything was looking lovely, thank goodness, but we still don’t know what caused my labour last time as everything also looked great then too.

I'm a bit disappointed that I haven’t felt any movement yet too. I felt my son 15 weeks on the dot, and read that you can sometimes feel subsequent babies earlier, so o really pinned my hopes on it, silly, I know!

Hope everyone is going well.

jjj2024 · 28/03/2025 11:05

Hey everyone!

@KittyFantastica we have the same due date! I can't imagine how stressful this time must be for you - are you being offered extra check ups / scans over the next few weeks? Will be thinking of you and hoping everything goes smoothly. If it's any reassurance, I also haven't felt any movement yet and this is my third, I was hoping I would have felt something by now but it must just still be too early.

Exciting people are starting to find out what they're having! It makes it seem much more real!

MrsH26 · 28/03/2025 14:56

Hey everyone.
ive been having a tough time at work but cant afford any time off because we found out yesterday husband is being made redundant!
first trimester has been so stressful for a lot of reasons and im so worried about about putting the little bean at risk because I haven’t been coping brilliantly…

was really hoping for a more settled second trimester but it’s started dreadfully with various things!

Superscientist · 28/03/2025 16:45

I'm sorry you are going through a tricky time @MrsH26
I can relate I was made redundant when I was 7 weeks pregnant. I deliberately didn't test until the day I found out about my job as I didn't need the extra stress and as I was in a pool it was unlikely to change the situation.
Mindful activities such as colouring and puzzles help me. I need my hands to be busy to keep my mind quiet.

Whilst stress isn't great in pregnancy the only negative implications have been in late pregnancy and in risk to life situations. The studies that have found the link are things like women in war zones or the terror attacks on the world trade centre. So don't let the idea of stress add to your stress!

What's the situation re the termination of your husband contract? If he's now at home could he take on some of the day to day load so that you just have to think about you baby and your job? My contract was terminated immediately so I been home since I found out I was redundant.

Would it be worth talking to your GP or midwife if things are getting too much? They might be able to give you done extra support, in pregnancy you should be fast tracked for talking therapies if something like that would help you? In my first pregnancy I had a referral for online CBT with weekly calls. It wasn't quite suitable for my situation unfortunately but the referral came through quite quickly. I think it was a 6 week wait from it being suggested to the first session

MrsH26 · 28/03/2025 18:33

@Superscientist
Thank you. I knit to keep me occupied, working on a beaut cashmere blanket at the moment for our little one.
He’s got until end of July, so we’re hoping with some solid saving and the redundancy package that we can keep going until when he’d be back following paternity leave. Just hoping.
My work is a bigger issue, but can’t afford to be off and it’s not a pleasant place at the moment. Lots of underlying issues within the workplace.
I’ve been referred to PNMH team and have first appt Monday, it came through within a week. I’m quite uncomfortable with it, I’ve never had anything like this ever before and it’s very alien to me

Superscientist · 28/03/2025 20:00

The perinatal team can be great, I'm bipolar and was under them from pregnancy until my daughter was 1. They were really helpful to me. There's also a lot of medication that are safe to take in pregnancy and the perinatal psychiatrist are best for prescribing in pregnancy.

MediterraneanHouse · 29/03/2025 09:26

Found out this week I’m 13 weeks pregnant - due at the end of September - around my 30th birthday ! 😭

Superscientist · 29/03/2025 11:21

I bet that was a surprise! @MediterraneanHouse

How are you feeling about it?

Thank you! Yes it was but now I’ve got used to the idea I’m really pleased about it! I’ve already got a 7 year old daughter ❤️

Superscientist · 29/03/2025 12:55

That's good. I have a 4.5 yo and am due on the 28th September and was nearly 8 weeks when I found out so not quite as late as you but I did find it helpful to have skipped some of the early first trimester nerves and anxieties!

I have a 7 year age gap with my older sister and 4 with my little sister. We have all been really close and it was nice that we could guide one another through life changes as we weren't all in. The midst of it at the same time.

chicke09 · 29/03/2025 14:16

Found out I have low Papp A so more scans and need to be put on aspirin due to risk of pre eclampsia. Any experiences?

OP posts:
MrsH26 · 29/03/2025 14:28

@chicke09 do you qualify for uterine artery Doppler at 16wks too?
I’ve been referred to fetal medicine for that, but they’re off sick, so no idea if I’ll actually get it or not.
The low Papp-A is a risk factor for low birth weight babies and pre-eclampsia, hence the aspirin, the aspirin helps with vessel perfusion with the placenta and therefore baby gets fed more effectively.

Groundhogday2025 · 29/03/2025 14:49

@chicke09 I had this in my first pregnancy. It’s quite common. Take the low dose aspirin but try not to worry. All it means is closer monitoring of your stats and the baby.
If it helps my daughter was born full term, weighing nearly 9lbs… certainly not a low weight one 🫠

Ah yes that’s the thing - I was do glad to skip a lot of the first trimester anxieties as well! The baby’s due a month before my daughter’s 8th birthday 😊

OrangeRainbow · 29/03/2025 17:34

I’ve been for a private scan today at 16 weeks thankfully everything is still looking okay! Although my scans so far have been really bad quality even when I’ve had a full bladder. Think it’s a mixture of having a tilted uterus and baby not cooperating! 😂

We’ve been told it’s a girl - but i still have it in my head that they may have got it wrong! Do others think it looks like a girl?

I do but not until after my 20 week scan. You’ll have to let me know what to expect!

@OrangeRainbow thats 100% a girl, I found out I’m having a boy today and it’s an obvious line between legs, looks very different on a scan.

I am overjoyed to see baby is fine, haematoma still there :/ but remaining optimistic it will be gone by 20w
