I have a growth scan in a few weeks where I'm tempted to ask what sex the baby is!! That same week, we're taking my eldest to a concert and we have 'standing tickets' how on earth am i going to survive that concert standing at 32 weeks pregnant - i just do not know!! I can barely walk now at 28 weeks pregnant!!!

I’ve got gigs booked up to 32wks! We’re quite heavy gig goers in this household.
This baby even has its first gig booked for when it’s about 4wks old!

MrsH26 · 19/06/2025 08:17

Well I’m not going to make September. And it’s iffy as to whether I’ll make 3rd trimester.
Currently causing havoc with my blood pressure, it’s a little bit overwhelming, not gonna lie!

Oh no, what's happening? (Only if you don't mind saying)

It's a scary prospect when you are facing a potentially very premature baby. What they can do now is amazing and babies are so resilient. My dad was born at 28 weeks weighing just 2lb3oz in the early 60s! He doesn't have a lot of feeling in his hands but otherwise has no complications from being born so early.

There's a little girl in my daughters class who is fabulous and was born at 29 weeks after premature rupture of membranes at 22 weeks.

Every day and every gram in weight is a bonus at this point. Find people who have been through similar to talk to too.

Best of luck x

MrsH26 · 19/06/2025 10:06

I’m only 25+5 now.
I’m pre-eclamptic, work at the hospital & I know far too much for my own good. So all the scenarios are running through my head!

My team are looking after me though

Superscientist · 19/06/2025 11:26

It's good you are being looked after, rest up and take things easy as much as possible
Yes sometimes too much knowledge isn't helpful! Are there any organisations you could talk to for some parental experiences which might give you a different perspective and give some stories to the facts and figures. I'm a facts and figures person and can find myself in the know too much category and stepping back and finding the humanity can give my brain a bit of a break from the swirling of scenarios

MyGardenDaisies · 19/06/2025 11:55

@MrsH26 hope you make it into 3rd trimester at least before baby comes!

I am 28w tomorrow and excited to book in the C section in 8 weeks! I’ve also been discharged from consultant care, things are going well! :)
only thing I’m trying to keep on top of is appetite and weight gain, and managing this heat wave!

MrsH26 · 19/06/2025 13:01

Thanks everyone.
The consultant seemed confident they’ll be able to get me to 28wks, so 🤞🏻

I’m doing a very quick list for a hospital bag and what we still need to get to occupy myself for a bit. Got a scan in a couple of hours to make sure baby is tolerating everything

Oh no - I’m sorry to hear this

Hope you are able to rest up for now x

sunshineandrain82 · 19/06/2025 14:04

Also having issues with my blood pressure. But mine keeps being to low.
i have my C-section date booked in already. But consultant is now seeing me every other week and hoping we get as close to my C-section date as possible.
everything looked ok yesterday but it doesn’t stop the worry still.

MrsH26 · 20/06/2025 07:14

@TheGreenCrab I’m still in hospital, the scan showed growth on the 3rd centile and my BP has a peak around 10-11pm, so they’re still fiddling with medication to keep it as stable as possible. And quickly because this hospital isn’t tertiary and the NICU want to ship me to another hospital 😕 they’re not planning on delivery imminently though

@sunshineandrain82 i’ll be seen at least twice weekly from now for BP and Urine & weekly doppler, every other week growth. So very close surveillance now.

I’m a little sad that it looks like my options for birth and feeding are going to be removed though! Those were the things I was most passionate about and it’s not likely this baby will tolerate a pre-term induction & dependent on how early, might not ever go to the breast

My friend who's baby was born at 29 weeks managed to breastfeed after initial tube feeding, she said the NICU were supportive of her plan to breastfeed. It might not happen for you but there's a chance. My dad was fed on condensed milk from birth because of his prematurity!

When I was thinking about my birth plan I focussed on how I wanted to feel. I asked my partner to support me in making decisions that helped me feel in control and calm. You might not get the experience you had in mind but it might be worth thinking about things that could be added to give you some things that make you feel calm, safe and in control in an environment that potential is quite far from that.

sunshineandrain82 · 20/06/2025 09:45

Just received a call as my test results are back and positive for diabetes. Have an appointment on Tuesday with the diabetes team now.

It’s the temperature that’s getting me. 8 weeks to go I’ve been telling myself.

took a trip to London today to look at a university with eldest. As much as I know it needed to happen.. I wish I hadn’t I’m so uncomfortable now

Same - the heat is really getting to me 😞

Groundhogday2025 · 28/06/2025 19:00

@chicke09 I hear you. This pregnancy has been so much easier in so many ways than my first, but then it’s like in the last 4 weeks- BAM! I’ve hit a wall. I don’t think this weather is any good either. I avoided hot weather almost completely with my first pregnancy. Can’t actually believe I still have 10 or so weeks to go with the way the last few weeks have been. It’s only going to get hotter 😵

Lou98x · 29/06/2025 07:42

Struggling with the heat over here too! Also have a nasty cold that’s keeping me up at night so having a rough time all round at the minute!
Hope you’re all coping!

OrangeRainbow · 11/07/2025 09:16

How is everyone doing? I’m 31 weeks and have had to bite the bullet and take time off work due to sciatica and pelvic pain. Had a mammoth cry at work on Monday and was sent home! Really been struggling with my commute and working full time due to the pain.

I’m due to finish work at 36 weeks to go on annual leave before Mat leave starts at 39 weeks so have tried to power through but I’m not sure I’ll be able to go back next week so have a GP appointment Monday. Feel so much pressure to go back though as I know my work will be mounting up waiting for me whilst I’m off which is going to make my last few weeks really stressful!

Superscientist · 11/07/2025 09:32

You come first ignore work @OrangeRainbow

I struggled into work with hyperemesis with my of my miscarriages and put my self in a and E after falling as a consequence. I felt a duty to the employer and my colleague. The next pregnancy when the same happened I looked after myself better and took a 4 weeks sick note. Symptoms were similar but I coped so much better. The company didn't show me the same loyalty when they made me redundant 2 months later which was poorly handled and I didn't even get a "goodbye, nice to have worked with you". It was you've been made redundant please return your IT equipment in the next 7 days. Prior to the announcement of job losses I loved my job and the company I worked for. They had always been a good employer and supportive but when the going got tough they were as heartless as any company can be.
Please don't a job before your health!

OrangeRainbow · 11/07/2025 09:43

@SuperscientistI know you are totally right. Sorry to hear that happened to you!

I do want to try and go back more for my own sanity as I think I’ll go out of my mind with boredom being off from now until baby’s arrival! However, I think I’ll see what the GP says and take another week at least, then I’ll only be going back for 4 weeks, maybe less if I need to take longer off. Hoping I’ll be able to negotiate some working from home/reduced workload as I don’t want to go back to nothing but stress!

Thanks though you have put things into perspective!
