@Firsttimetrier congratulations on the arrival of your little one, but I'm sorry it wasn't the birth you wished for and was so traumatic for you. But thankful you're both safe and doing well. I hope you and baby can go home and recover soon. ❤️
Sending love to you all.
@RedRobyn2021yes I'm definitely going to look into some baby classes, my midwife advised about one just up the road from us actually so going to look into that. Plus I'll ask my friends who've mostly all had baby's on their recommendations locally.
@Twinkletwinklelil@ RedRobyn2021 thank you for the recommendations regarding the nappy rash. I had been using the sudocream care and protect, I actually went through a whole tube and it didn't seem to make any difference. We did some nappy off time yesterday and I switched to just the normal sudocream as I thought it had a thicker consistency, and today it looks a lot better thankfully. So hopefully it's on the mend. @RedRobyn2021 I actually read that the washable diapers can be quite bad for nappy rash, as they're not as absorbent. Although my mum used them for a short time with my sister (35 years ago mind) and advised against them. She said they're a nightmare with constant washing etc which I can imagine!
@Twinkletwinklelil really feel for you regarding the sleep. Thankfully little man will go down, but he does wake frequently in the night for feeds, and what I'm struggling with is when he's feeding, he takes an age to finish!! (He is formula, bottle fed) it can take over an hour for him to finish 80ml/100ml. That a couple of times a night doesn't equate to much sleep..
are you waiting for her to fall asleep before transferring her to the crib? Or is she waking as soon as you place her down? What we found worked for us, is nappy change, swaddle, white noise and feed. We turn the lights off and tv right down, and hold while we feed, then we put him over our shoulder to burp/bop up and down and once burped, do circular motions on his lower back/bum until he's asleep. Then lower him into his next to me crib, bum first and then head with our hand underneath and slowly remove it. Then we keep one hand on him for a minute and slowly release. He will often stir, and make a lot of gurgling sounds etc but not cry but he'll then just doze off. We don't intervene when he's making those noises, only if he's crying.
A midwife also recommended using a heating pad in the crib before putting them down so it's warm and not going from the warmth of being held to the cold of a crib. Maybe worth a try?
The sleep deprivation is a killer, you have my sympathies.
Also ladies; could things i wanted to pick your brains about. As mentioned above, feeding... our little one is formula/bottle fed, he's taking about 3-4oz per feed now (every 2.5-3 hours, sometimes longer overnight). We are using the Philips avente bottles, we started on the newborn slow tests but it was literally taking nearly 2 hours for him to finish a feed. So we went up to the 1 month tests on the HV recommendations. But still it's taking him 1+ hour to finish a feed. It's making life impossible to get things done by the time you feed, burp, sterilise, nappy change etc and during the night feeds is a killer, I feel myself drifting off when feeding him.
Any suggestions. He can become quiet fussy when feeding, will make all the ques he's hungry and then you place the bottle in or near his mouth and he'll start throwing his head around with his mouth open, then he'll start sucking and is latched but will do a couple sucks then a looooooong pause. He's done this with both teats. We've tried everything from changing how we position him while feeding, burping regularly during feeds, infacol as we thought it maybe reflux or colic, waiting longer inbetween feeds etc. It doesn't seem to make a difference. He's also extremely noising when feeding, grunts and groans and sometimes tenses up and goes bright red, but then will happily carry on feeding.
Any ideas?? When googling, it says a 3+ week old should be finishing that much feed in about 30 mins. He's doubling almost tripling that.
And also; ladies who've had a ceasarean, I'm not 3 weeks +2 days pp and the wound is healing really well, no weeping, but it's still super sensitive and my whole lower tummy from belly button down still feels very very tender and bruised and swollen (still quiet protruding) and out into my hips. Is that normal? I know a few of you had one before me and maybe further along in your healing journey. Just wondering when it might start to subside? I know I'm still very early on and am feeling a lot better within myself, just curious.
& @LilyJessie sounds like you could be holding your baby very soon if not already!! Wishing you all the luck for your birth!! Keeping everything crossed for you!! ❤️🤞🏼 hoping for a safe arrival for you and baby...
