I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Hi all,
I found out that I was pregnant on Friday with a very faint BFP, i tested again today at roughly 4+3 and the line has got darker. I feel very cautious about being here as I had a missed miscarriage in July I was 8 weeks but the embryo stopped growing at 5+3, I had no signs really but I guess my symptoms
had reduced slightly, everything was in the right place but the embryo never got a heartbeat. I have been having on and off cramping and back ache so far and this will be baby number 6 for me if all goes well, I’m not going to book my pregnancy until around 12 weeks as I will go private and have the private NIPT prior to registering.
congratulations to you all, I hope you all have happy and successful pregnancies.

Hi ladies! Just as I’m a bit clueless- I’ve booked in for a first appointment with a midwife on 8th Jan, but some of you have got me thinking about a private scan. Would I get a scan from the midwife apt in Jan? I’ll be about 8 weeks then. I just looked online and it said at the first midwife apt there’s a lot of chat and they’ll measure BMI and do blood pressure etc but there was no mention of a scan?

Justbloodylovecrisps · 23/12/2024 23:26

Hey everyone! Hope you're all getting on ok 💜

Had anybody else got absolutely no symptoms whatsoever? 5 + 3 today & I have nothing! I was absolutely knackered with my first straight away so slightly worried!

CandyCane457 · 23/12/2024 23:29

@Justbloodylovecrisps me! My first pregnancy and haven’t quite got my head around the whole week + week thing, but I’m six weeks at the mo and have had zero symptoms apart from feeling a bit tired!

Hello! The midwife doesn't do a scan at your booking in appointment - the first one is your 12 week scan. I have booked a private scan for when I'll be 7+4, which is also what I did for my first pregnancy. I found it very reassuring - for a while at least!

I'm exhausted and have a few stomach pains but other than that nothing, also making me worried 😅

CandyCane457 · 24/12/2024 11:12

@Mielbee thank you for your help, I really appreciate that! Will look at booking an early
scan 😊

Blakethedrake · 24/12/2024 16:22

I’m 5 weeks pregnant and due at the end of August.
I get my first scan at the start of Jan 🙏 as I am high risk so have more bloods taken, tests and scans taken.

I wouldn’t advise a private scan however tempting it is. In my experience they’re really dodgy and can create more anxiety.

Moosey898 · 24/12/2024 17:20

@Blakethedrake I think it really depends where you go - the ones which are super commercial, absolutely. But there's a fertility clinic near me where you can pay just for scans, and they are brilliant. Really professional. I wouldn't go to any other around me mind you!

Newmumtobetwentytwentytwo · 26/12/2024 08:40

Hi all - please can I join?

Positive test last Saturday, according to my tracking app I’m exactly 6 weeks. I have a just turned two year old and joined a lovely group when I was pregnant with him so would love to be involved X

RW269 · 26/12/2024 20:30

I’m pretty certain time has slowed right down now I’m on a countdown to a reassurance 7 week scan 12th Jan 😂 anyone else feeling the same? Xx

LittleOtter76 · 26/12/2024 21:35

Hey all,

got my BFP on 19th. By LMP I'm 5w 4d. Have my midwife appt for 24th Jan at the moment. Utterly exhausted!

2nd pregnancy, we have a little girl who is 6.

Finding reading this thread really reassuring so thank you all for sharing!

I found out last night I’m pregnant!!!!!

My boyfriend and I have been “loosely” trying since Boxing Day last year. I say loosely because I came off the pill, have been tracking periods/when we’ve had sex/ovulation etc on Flo, but we’ve not been hell bent on having sex on ovulation days etc, or taking special vitamins or anything like that. We’ve been together just under three years and I’m 35, we would’ve maybe liked a bit more time together as a two, but also aware of my age etc etc.

I freaked out so much last night, I couldn’t stop laughing and saying “what do we do? What do we do?” over and over. I feel so excited!

Also feel slightly nervous about the amount of parfait/patè I’ve eaten the last couple of weeks at Christmas meals… oh and Brie- I had Brie last weekend. My mind is just in overdrive! I also had a few drinks a couple of weeks ago. We did a clearblue test that said I’ve been pregnant for 3+ weeks. I checked my Flo app and we had sex on November 20th and that was my most fertile day, so going to heavily assume that was my conception day.

So… what am I actually supposed to do now? Make a doctors appointment? Contact a private provider? Seek out a midwife? Literally no idea!!!! I’m just really overwhelmed and excited!

Congrats :) I think I’m around the same date as you! I just booked an initial scan to check everything is ok so I can relax a bit! Christmas has been so tricky with booze and dodging pate (my fav) not told my family yet I’m planning on doing it tomorrow!

Meeting · 27/12/2024 06:14

Morning all, I took a CB digital yesterday and got a 'pregnant 2-3', I'm in a state of shock!

We didn't have the best time conceiving our first (who is only 11 months) with 2 MC so I think I've been in complete denial, until the symptoms were just too obvious to ignore. We are absolutely overjoyed but at the same time, terrified of 2 under 2!

I have PCOS so my cycles are impossible to track but I'm fairly certain my LMP was 01/11 which when I put that in the app gives me a DD of 8th August. It says I'm 8 weeks along but that could be more/less due to not knowing when I ovulate.

I think first steps will be buying some folic acid today and taking some time to let it sink in. Then will contact midwife on Monday and probably tell family closer to 12 weeks.

CandyCane457 · 27/12/2024 10:50

@Oli16 aww congrats! So exciting! I managed okay with booze as my family aren’t huge drinkers (although NYE will be harder, we’ve got tickets to an event with a big group of friends) but dodging patè has been haaaard! Enjoy telling your family tomorrow, they’ll be delighted 😁

DragonflyRuby · 27/12/2024 11:02

Hi all, welcome and congratulations to the new joiners! ❤️

How is everyone getting on? I’m 9 weeks today and I feel like time is standing still, it’s been good having Christmas to keep me busy but I just want to get to 12 weeks and know everything is ok!

I had a scan at 7+5 and saw the heartbeat so that was lovely and reassuring but my symptoms have been really intermittent. I felt so sick a couple of weeks ago and was on medication but now I only feel nauseous on and off and don’t really need to take the tablets and my boobs don’t feel as sore as they did a couple of weeks ago. I want to have another scan really but my DP says I just need to believe everything is ok and wait for the 12 week one now. My booking appointment with the midwife is on 6th so hoping that again gives some reassurance. I wish I didn’t feel so worried all the time!

Nikkix86 · 27/12/2024 14:15

Hope you all had lovely Christmasses, I have my early scan on the 11th Jan and time also feels like it's standing still. Apart from the odd belly pain I haven't got any symptoms now which is making me worried 😭 just want to know everything is ok

Lollylei · 27/12/2024 14:28

Hey all! I’m very cautiously joining the thread! I am 8+ 5 today. Had a scan at 8 weeks and saw the heartbeat but feeling the same as many others! Symptoms seemed to have subsided in the past few days - bar tiredness. Booked another early scan for 10 weeks just for peace of mind because I can’t handle the anxiety. Had 2 MCs before this so I can’t help overthinking and catastrophising. I have read that many women feel that symptoms ease/become inconsistent at 8-9 weeks so just hoping for the best.

Lalalala77 · 27/12/2024 16:42

Hi all, also cautiously joining although have been lurking for a while.
@Lollylei we seem to be on a bit of a similar journey, I’m 9 weeks today according to my scan last week which dated me at 7w6d and had good growth and heartbeat from the 6 week reassurance scan 2 weeks prior to that. Also had 2 MCs with the last being end of August so still very tentative about this pregnancy and half pretending it isn’t happening.
The EPU scanned me twice as I was measuring 2 weeks behind my LMP at my reassurance scan (went in at 8 weeks for the 6 week as I tracked ovulation and knew it had happened 2 weeks late due to things still being messed up from the miscarriage).

All looks good so far with a 2 week exact growth between scans, but can’t shake the feeling of wanting to book another early scan between now and my 12 week on the 17th Jan!
Symptoms also eased off in the last week but haven’t had massive nausea or anything anyway. It’s nice to see this is happening for other people at a similar stage and not just me!

Notsure31 · 27/12/2024 18:05

Hi all, I’ve got my first scan at exactly 6 weeks next week at EPAU (due to previous recurrent miscarriage). I’m just a bit worried because if its exactly 6 weeks weeks, if implantation was a couple of days later than normal it may cause extra worry if it’s a few days behind and they ask me to come back a week or so later? I had my peak LH on 06/12 and booked in for scan 04/01, I did get my bfp at 9dpo though in 16/12.

RadDarwazeh · 27/12/2024 18:19

Hello! I got a positive on 24/12! Baby #2 got a 3 yr old DS already.

I'm so excited! Absolutely due end of August, my son came on his due date so who knows with this one!

I'm going to go back to to start of this thread and read through everything because I'm so excited and HELLO EVERYONE! 🎉

Ah the fact we have had a similar journey made me emotional! That’s good there has been a 2 week growth - suggests that everything is happening as it should for you! Yeah I booked one for 10 weeks because I couldn’t bare the thought of waiting a month until the 12 week scan. Are you already all booked in for for your 12 week scan then? I haven’t heard anything yet but at my booking appointment they said a letter would be sent with the first scan date.

Lalalala77 · 27/12/2024 19:29

@Lollylei I got my 12 week scan through at the same time as my booking appointment, which is actually tomorrow. I didn’t refer until after my 8 week scan with the EPU though as I was convinced it would be bad news. They were really speedy, I sent the email one evening last week and got both appointments text through by 7am the next morning!
When have you booked your 10 week scan for? I think I will book one in then too - it doesn’t take much to persuade me 😅

Toppstileslover · 27/12/2024 21:01

Hello! I think I’d like to join too. I say think, because I’m still a bit apprehensive and nervous about it all not going to plan. I’m 37, first baby and it’s all been a bit too easy. Rationalised today that writing a Mumsnet post wasn’t going to change anything. I really want to to be excited but I can’t be just yet! I’m not sure when you can be?!

I am literally pretending nothing has changed and happening at the moment - aside from not drinking (don’t want to anyway).

My tracking app thinks I’m 6+6 but you don’t know until the scans! Husband very against again early scans (and Dr Google), is very positive and wants to deal with things as they come. He’s so calm I respect that. I think we will tell my Mum this weekend (I’ll be 7 weeks and 3rd grand child so less hysterical) then MIL at 12 week scan. FIL is a gynae and will be unbothered.

I have extremely sore boobs (usually a nice little B/C cup), having to sleep in sports bras and have a lot of discharge but otherwise I feel really good! This is really worrying me! Hope it’s all cooking okay in there. I get comfortable cramps.

But - if something happens I can’t change it so I’m getting it out there 😊

So - my plan was going to be wait until 8 weeks then self refer for an appointment. We are relocating and moving house soon so I’ve found a hospital in the new area!

Already panicking about telling work — waiting on a formal offer for a new job / team in same company 😬 but it is what it is!

Lollylei · 28/12/2024 08:26

@Lalalala77 booked for 4th Jan - that’s when I will be 10 weeks based on my LMP and last scan. When is your 12 week scan booked for? Do it! You need to do what makes you more comfortable and relaxed - keep us updated on how it all goes 🙏🏽🙂.
