Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

I had a scan at the EPU today due to some spotting and we saw our little bean with a heartbeat fluttering away! Due date 2nd August and measuring 7+2, exactly where I thought. So happy and relieved 🙏🏻 Now to think how to tell our close family at Christmas!!

Congratulations 😍😍😍

@TTCBabyHoward Thank you! I got some Cyclizine which I think is the same sort of thing. Definitely noticing some improvement after taking it before bed and this morning so hoping it gets even more effective. I’m the same, have to force myself to eat but I do feel better most of the time when I do!

Did you find the cyclazine worked straight away for you? I’ve been taking it for just over 24 hours (on my 4th dose now) and haven’t noticed any difference. Don’t know whether to stick it out and see if it improves or ask to try something else as I know this doesn’t work for everyone!

SarahB88 · 18/12/2024 13:18

@rebecca199 oh fruity ciders sound a nice idea! I remember the kopparberg ones being nice.

We won’t tell my partners family until we’ve had our scans.

We’re still in disbelief that this has happened for us 🥰

SarahB88 · 18/12/2024 13:19

@DiscoComfort I had to take tablets in my last pregnancy and ended up needing to ondansetron as it was the only thing that would curb the nausea and stop the sickness. If cyclizine hasn’t worked after a few days just ring up and ask for something else x

Confusedmermaid1 · 18/12/2024 13:36

I also love a drink and we are staying overnight with DHs family on Christmas Day and should be staying Boxing Day but I’m waiting to see if EPU will be able to book me in on 27th for an early scan (previous losses)
I said to DH about maybe just coming clean but he doesn’t want to because of our losses (he doesn’t want to tell anyone until after the 12 week scan but I’m hoping if we get some good news before then he will come around!)
I am dreading it 😅 spent £10 on fake gin 🙄😂 going to transfer it over into a gin bottle.. SIL has a hot tub and wants us to use it, she keeps reminding us to bring our bathers but I’m going to ‘forget’ mine 🙈 she’s already suspicious because I preordered pate for a meal with them on the weekend just gone and I smushed it around the plate hoping no one would notice and of course she did 😂 just said I wasn’t fussed on it….
EPU said they will scan at 6 weeks, depending on how that goes I might book a private scan around 8 weeks (MMC last pregnancy around that time) and I would like to tell my mum around then if it’s good news but we will see..

Thank you. Yes, I think I'll speak to them in a few days if no improvement. I actually think the cyclizine is making me feel worse. Either that or nausea is ramping up. I'm not actually being sick (so counting myself lucky) but the nausea is constant and every waking moment is hell 😩Glad to hear something ended up working for you and I hope you don't need to take any this time!

I felt horrible on the cyclizine, I was totally knackered. My sickness and nausea didn’t reside until 17 weeks but then I had a great run of feeling well until 32 weeks when it came back but at least at that point once I’d been sick I felt ok again.

Just try to keep your fluids up, I found orange juice and orange squash was the only thing I could stomach. None of the other remedies like ginger etc did anything so I really feel for you. Takes away the joy from the pregnancy a bit but I was told if you’re nauseated then it means that baby is really healthy inside so it was nice to think of it that way.

Hi everybody, can I please join? 😀 Got my BFP yesterday and I am due approximately 27th August. This will be my second baby, DD is 11 months old and I'm 28. I didn't join any groups or threads with my first one but thought it would be nice to get involved this time xxx

HereWeGoAgainBaby6 · 18/12/2024 15:35

@Tofu96 congratulations to you 😊 our little girl is only 10months old.. i swear i have seen your username somewhere before 🤔 lol x

Aw we are similar! Flo says I’m due 28th but premom says 27th. I’ve got a 7 month old.

Congrats!

DragonflyRuby · 18/12/2024 17:19

We had our early scan today and everything was in the right place/right size and we saw the heartbeat which was so lovely. It looks like a tiny turtle! 🐢 🥰

They measured me at 7+1 although I’m 7+5 according to LMP. But I was tracking ovulation and that puts me at 7+2 so I think that’s pretty accurate.

I found after 2 doses it’s helped take the edge off. I still have to eat nearly constantly even though I don’t want to but it’s definitely made it all more bearable. I’m sorry you’re feeling so awful, it is so hard to do anything when you’re feeling nauseous all the time. I’d definitely speak to your doc again.

I’ve also been taking 50mg of B6 but that was my own research not the Dr so maybe look into that too?

PregnantAtLast · 18/12/2024 17:22

@DragonflyRuby We had our early scan today too. So amazing to see isn't it? It took our breath away seeing such a strong little pumping heart! I'm 6+4 and measured exactly there (it was through IVF, so makes it easier to date, but still a relief that it's all measuring as it should!)

@pcbrb Luckily only one baby was found in our scan! 😂 Phew!

DragonflyRuby · 18/12/2024 17:30

Congratulations @PregnantAtLast that’s brilliant news. It really is crazy to see the heartbeat, just amazing!

Great news for you too @OneGladTiger so glad everything was good with your scan.

They told me the corpus luteum was on the right ovary so I ovulated from that side which makes sense as I’ve had quite a few right sides twinges and was hoping it was nothing to worry about!

tpeas · 18/12/2024 18:44

glad to hear your positive scan news @PregnantAtLast ! And to confirm there's just one in there 😅

I have been feeling ravenous and if I don't snack I feel a bit nauseous. I think snacking is going to be my new pasttime 😂

TinkRose · 18/12/2024 19:32

The bloat is very real! It’s my work Christmas party this week, everything feels like it’s clinging so tightly to my stomach - I’m only 7 weeks today! Also need to plan how I’m going to not look like I’m avoiding drinking.
I can’t brush my teeth without retching and dry heaving, and waking up at 3am to be sick is apparently something I do now!

TinkRose · 18/12/2024 19:36

Also, has anyone not heard anything from a midwife yet? I’ve self-referred and completed my forms on Badger Notes a week ago but heard nothing since - I definitely had heard something by this point with my last pregnancy - I lost that baby at 7.5 weeks and it was the day I went for my booking appointment that it happened.

Tadpolecat · 18/12/2024 20:03

@TinkRose I just heard back from them today - I'm around 7 weeks. I self referred 3 weeks ago. They sounded as though they were just trying to squeeze me in before Christmas, to avoid backlog after Christmas. Perhaps you'll hear very soon, or it may be after Christmas.

abc789 · 18/12/2024 21:30

Hi all!

Please can I join 🥰

Bit late to the party so I can't catch up but hope everyone is ok! Exciting times!!

Took a test today and it was positive! I'm technically due on tomorrow it's an early test. All being well I worked out my due date at the end of August! This will be our second ☺️ xx

Ohh I'm glad to hear that it's just one baby and that's healthy ♥️♥️

@OneGladTiger Aww, that's so lovely! Congrats! :)

We're telling our close family at Christmas too. For my parents, we've gone for a card from Etsy that says 'What do you get for a mum and dad who has everything?' and you scratch it off to reveal 'A grandchild' 😄

It's so cheesy but fun, and it will be a massive shock to them because we told them that our IVF treatments were on hold til January - so they really have no idea!

Ahhh that’s such a good idea! I think I’m going to make my own Christmas cards with us and the dog on the front and then on the inside say oops, we forgot one! And then have a photo of our scan 😁

That’s amazing about your IVF treatments, congrats!

There won't be a dry eye in the room when I give my mum her present! Her mum (my nan) passed away just over a month ago, and my mum said something like I hope she sends you a baby because she knows how long we've been trying
So I got her a baby grow and it says 'sent with love from nanny in heaven' 🤍🤍

Just a thought, is anybody interested in an FB/Whatsapp group?!

When I was expecting our first someone from the August 2023 due babies Mumsnet group created an FB group so it was easier to keep track of conversations! We then created a Whatsapp group, it's been going for 18 months now and we've become such great friends! Naturally some people become uninterested but 18 mos later still 45 of us in there! Some of them even came to my wedding in October! It's just lovely to know you can pop on and someone is likely to be there to answer your question or listen to your rant etc!

Happy to set up if anybody is interested in an August 2025 group! xx
