question - are we able to drink nozeco or not? I’m reading up on it, my lovely MIL has bought some bottles for over xmas but I’m a bit worried now I can’t have a glass or two as it appears it has a v low alcohol content… anyone rec any fizz alternatives? Just so other family members don’t catch on! Xx

I think they say it's 'less than 0.5%' which is the government guidelines for saying something is no alcohol. As a PP said that level can be found in ripe fruit or orange juice too and is considered safe.

The book 'expecting better ' is great on this and risks around food / caffeine / medicine etc

Struggling with the night sweats and very like cramping at the moment. Feels like a mild, dull ache every now and then, like the beginnings of a period cramp. Google tells me that this is normal and due to the uterus stretching. It’s all very disconcerting though! Nausea has gone away for the past few days but feel a bit sick again this morning. Does anyone else find that symptoms waxing and waning is a bit of a stressor? I thought I would be so relaxed about all this but it’s tricky not to find symptoms reassuring and their lack of concerning! I’m 6+1 today on LMP/conception so could be normal for this stage I guess.

I also feel like I’m huge already! Unfortunately don’t own a scales so not entirely sure of my weight but I can visibly see a lower belly curve that I can’t “suck back in” anymore. Is this normal?! This is my first pregnancy and it feels very early to be seeing this. I presume it’s bloat but I don’t feel bloated anymore like I did a few weeks ago. Currently I can still do up my jeans but my bras have become really uncomfortable and I doubt I’ve got many more weeks of these jeans left. I thought this was meant to be 12+ weeks onwards?? I’m a size 8 but feel like I’m already a 10. I wasn’t super fit before pregnancy, is this normal?

Attheyard · 16/12/2024 07:19

Also, what can I do about my bras? I’m reluctant to buy any maternity stuff for a while because I don’t want to jinx things but my boobs are so painful and feel like they’ve grown a lot. I’m normally a 32DD and only own underwired bras or one sports bra. Only the sports bra is comfortable now and even that feels a bit squashed. Do maternity bras exist? I can only find ones for nursing which doesn’t feel like the same thing at all. Help!

PregnantAtLast · 16/12/2024 07:49

@tpeas Huge congrats to you :) I'm pregnant after IVF as well for the first time. We've been trying for over 4 years and had so many cycles and treatments, so it's monumental. Is this your first? How are you feeling?

It doesn't feel quite real to me yet, although I'm due 9th August - I am currently 6 weeks 2 days - and the nausea and sore breasts are certainly starting to feel real haha x

I bought these to sleep in, it has helped me massively and they'll do for when baby is born too (unless I'm at the next size up by then - I don't know how much I'm going to grow!!)

Don't worry about jinxing things. What will happen will happen. You need to be comfortable.

Has anyone bought anything yet?

I bough a babygrow the other day, just one. I just felt like I wanted to have something to hold that my baby will own/ wear.

I know it's early stages and things could go wrong but I just really wanted to do it, and it wasn't very expensive.

Anyone else?

Attheyard · 16/12/2024 08:02

@PregnantAtLast thank you - does this also work during the day? Ie is it supportive enough for normal daily wear? I am struggling to find something, it’s all so confusing!

ThisAmusedPoet · 16/12/2024 08:08

Hi everyone-
Excited to join - got a BFP yesterday and due August 20th!
This is second pregnancy as I have a 20 month old son.
I never had any pregnancy symptoms at all with him so this pregnancy has already been quite different with low level nausea all day long. I also didn’t get a BFP until 4 days after AF was due, in fact tested negative for ages, so I thought it wasn’t going to happen this cycle again.
Tried to self refer to nearest hospital but our postcode is technically out of their area so we were denied! Very annoying.

Thank you so much! I’ll get it as I second guess everything- i’ll be eating only dust soon! x

I find it supportive enough, but I am a C cup so I'm not sure how it would be for you (although I'm currently still finding normal bras OK in the daytime).

I would say though, don't be averse to looking at maternity/ nursing bras - they are probably the most comfortable and practical thing!

TKMaxx do alot of non wired bralettes - like sports bras but prettier. They’re usually reasonably cheap and I wear them all the time, whether pregnant or not. Maybe try some on and see if they’re more comfortable. They’re not maternity bras so whatever happens you can wear them for everyday use. They tend to have a good bit of stretch and you can choose more supportive styles if needed.

@JW24M @Harriet1989 I was thinking this also!! As in a cider drinker, and I saw strong is darkfuit (don't judge 😂😂) is ultra low at 0.5% and I was like oh okay I can't drink that then! But maybe I can....

I've been banned from shopping because we have BAGS of stuff from my daughter 😂 when I find out the gender I'll buy a few new bits though! If it's a boy I'll have to start from scratch!

My cramps with my daughter were so like bad period cramps I was absolutely convinced I was going to come on my period! Having them again this time round and reminding myself that this is normal for me!
Yes very sweaty also!!
My boobs don't hurt today, and they really hurt yesterday so it's normal for symptoms to come and go. I got very hung up on this with my daughter and was always worried, so just trying to remind myself to stay calm this time, easier said than done 😂

tpeas · 16/12/2024 12:45

@PregnantAtLast congratulations to you!! That must be such a relief after so many cycles.

I feel very lucky because this is our first cycle and the only good blast we got from it. Conscious we're still not out of the woods yet. Have you had your first scan? And do you mind me asking what your HCG was at 4 weeks if you had it? I just had mine today and slightly freaking out because it was much higher than I was expecting!

Wow, that's amazing. Congrats. Fingers crossed all will be fine and we'll both have straightforward pregnancies!

I've got my first scan on Wednesday - have you had yours? I'm a little anxious but excited to hopefully see a heartbeat. All my symptoms have been textbook so far but you still worry don't you?

I haven't had any HCG measurements taken, so I don't know about that I'm afraid! - I don't think it's something my clinic do. I just did a home pregnancy test. I've heard anecdotally that high HCG early on can indicate twins??

Thanks! I hope so too. Best of luck for your scan. I'm only at 4 weeks so my scan will be in two weeks time.

Yes that's what I'm concerned about 😅 I wonder if it's higher in IVF though because the embryos are developing outside the womb for a few days? I'm going to ask when I pop in to the clinic tomorrow otherwise I will be panicking all Christmas 😂

SunshineDaisies24 · 16/12/2024 17:27

Ugh really struggling at the moment, I’m so tired but it’s my last week of work until Christmas and I have so much to get done. Only 4+4 weeks so too early to tell work yet so just having to make excuses, and trying so hard not to get stressed about it all because it’s not worth harming myself / baby over. But I really want to just stay in bed right now 😴

Attheyard · 16/12/2024 17:43

@SunshineDaisies24 I’m also exhausted. At least it’s Christmas so everyone is winding down!

This week my nausea has gone but been replaced by massive hunger. Everything I’ve read says this is typical in trimester 2, but I’m absolutely starving now. I’ve always had a high metabolism and eat a lot/often generally, but this is another level. Scared of putting on too much weight too soon but I’ve developed a Jacob’s cracker addiction.

I wish they were winding down 😂

I’ve thankfully gone the other way, so bloated I’m struggling to eat as much as usual (and I’m a big eater/snacker). No advice I’m afraid, first time going through it!
