Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

Does anyone know if the link works?

Definitely works! 😁

Welcome to everyone new here!

I’ve been a bit MIA as work has been crazy recently, hoping it starts to wind down before Christmas.

I retested a couple of days ago and still positive (phew!!) - so booked myself in for an early scan on the 21st (I’ll be 7+1) I am a bit worried it’s too early though as I know I ovulated on day 20 of my cycle so I’ll probably be more like 6 weeks… do you guys think I’m being silly going then? Husband would love to be able to tell family at Christmas which is why we booked it but it could be early and ruin things so I’m nervous. Has anyone else had scans on the early-side before?

so grateful for this group!

Attheyard · 10/12/2024 14:58

Thanks everyone, it’s so nerve wracking. I never imagined I would have this much worry about symptoms. Trying to relax is hard! I might take another test on Friday, as I’m away until then so probably better not to know if there is any issue. It’s just a super weird waiting period to get my head around.

pcbrb · 10/12/2024 15:06

Hello ladies! I would also like to join ♥️ I got a first vvvvvfl last Thursday on 11 dpo and today my lines are dark at 15 dpo so I wanted to join a group of august due dates ☺️ my app calculated that my due date would be in August 19th! This would be my first pregnancy and we conceived in the 4th cycle ✨ this Friday I'll get my first blood work and on the 7th of January the first scan! I hope everything goes well with all of our pregnancies 🫶🏼 ohh and I would love to join the WhatsApp group ;)

Fam23 · 10/12/2024 15:25

Hey, I’m tentatively joining after getting a positive yesterday.
The lines don’t seem very dark considering my period was due yesterday but not 100% sure when I ovulated as I’ve been full of cold for most of November! NHS calculator says 19th August as due date 🤞🏼

I had a scan at about 6.5 weeks but the pregnancy was measuring behind at just over 5 weeks, but we could still see a tiny flicker of a heartbeat. I had to have the internal scan though as the normal ultrasound didn’t really pick things up properly.
So maybe just shave your legs just incase they want to do an internal scan! 🤣

pcbrb · 10/12/2024 17:21

@OneGladTiger thanks! Are you already in the WhatsApp group? I feel like I know you since we've been supporting us since months 😅😅 but I haven't put you a face

OneGladTiger · 10/12/2024 18:17

@pcbrb not yet, I had some spotting this morning so I think I want to wait a bit longer, probably until I’ve had my private scan next Sunday, just in case it doesn’t work out. 🙏🏻

SunshineDaisies24 · 10/12/2024 18:43

I think I’m due in August, first time getting a BFP so no idea what I’m supposed to do! Doctors surgery wasn’t very helpful, I called to make an appointment to check that I was actually pregnant and they seemed a bit confused! I’m anxious that I’ve got it wrong so I want professional confirmation, I thought that was the usual way forward. Currently about 4 weeks I think. And they said something about registering with the clinic at the hospital but again didn’t give much information. Any help appreciated😂

Haha this was me three weeks ago! Nowadays they don't "confirm" pregnancy. Your positive home test is enough. What you need to do now is self refer to the hospital of your choice online and they will write to you and book you in for your first midwife appointment which is around 9 weeks and your first scan at around 12 weeks!

Ahh okok, I'm sorry to hear about the spotting but many times spotting does not mean anything bad, thinking of you and waiting for an update on Sunday ♥️

Thank you, wish they could have just told me that! Appreciate the help. Do you think it’s best to wait to tell people until after your first appointment? Just want to tell parents as soon as possible, so we have people who know in case something happens.

It’s entirely up to you! I couldn’t contain myself so I have told two people so far. I have been testing like a lunatic every few days since I found out! I’m having an early private scan on the 23rd. That’s when I will be telling my mum at 8 weeks. Everyone else I won’t say anything until after my 12 week scan. Scary and exciting at the same time!

Not too much happens at your first appointment, it's mostly them taking medical history from you and your partner. They take bloods, urine sample, blood pressure, height, weight etc but nothing that would help you decide whether to tell anyone I don't think.

The main thing I've stuck with is telling people you'll be okay with telling if it doesn't go well xxx

Ah ok thank you, I was hoping to tell family while we’re with them for Christmas but that would be 6 weeks or so, a bit early maybe! Best of luck with your scan ☺️

Oh ok, so no actual checking you’re pregnant? It feels weird just trusting myself 😅

I know! They maybe did a urine dip test but I don't remember her commenting on it, only on a protein urine test.

It does feel odd I know...!

Do the rest of us are doing - test again 🤣

I’ve lost count how many pregnancy tests I’ve taken now!

Hi! I had a surprise positive test today, so thought I'd join 👋🏻 - Was TTC for nearly a year after a ruptured ectopic and we actually decided to stop trying a few months ago and just concentrate on our daughter. Just thought it wasn't meant to be and I'm over 40, so felt like it was time to stop. Haven't exactly been taking precautions (obviously) but haven't been tracking and have really barely been DTD as was a bit over it 😆 honestly completely in shock today and haven't even told my husband yet.

Congratulations to all the new joiners!

does anyone else have insomnia as a symptom? I’m only 4+2 and the last few nights I’ve been awake for 2/3 hours in the night even though I’m so tired I can’t sleep! I don’t remember having this in my last pregnancy this early, I thought it came at the end 🤣 xx

Row23 · 11/12/2024 04:39

@ttcbabyno2x I’m also 4+2 and and also struggling with sleep. I do remember the same with my first in the early weeks and also at the end!

KT199 · 11/12/2024 07:40

With you on the insomnia ladies @ttcbabyno2x @Row23 , 4 +4 today and I’ve had it for a week!!! Thankfully last night I wasn’t laid awake for hours, for the first night in 6 nights but I did still wake up it least every hour! Also finding it harder to drift off, which is odd for me as I am someone who falls asleep really quick!
