Me again! Having serious sulk now. Just been to MW who, despite promising me 2 weeks ago and despite not being able to turn up for my home visit on Saturday REFUSED to do a sweep. Bloody Cow! Its all right for her with her 'it'll have more chance of working if we leave it a bit longer' appproach, its not bloody her who can't lie down coz of her bardy hips. Grrr! And she wouldn't check my cervix, even tho I said I'd been feeling an increase in pressure and her saying 'oooh, baby's well down now, won't be long'. Am pathetically annoyed I almost felt like crying. Reasonable me knows she's quite right of course (I am only 2 days overdue after all), but, why bloody say it if you've no intention of doing it. And she didn't even apologise for not seeing me Saturday! Bloody, bloody cow! Now I have to wait till Tuesday - if she can be bothered to turn up.
Rant Over. Feel a bit better already .
Newbi so sorry to hear you've been so unwell, I do hope you are better soon.
Hope everyones feeling better than me. Wishing us all a good nights sleep tonight - or even better, some contractions!

Vicsta,

I sympathise. I have had problems with mw's both in and out of hospital. None of them looked at the perineum and I think that contributed to the infection.

Have you a maternal foetal assessment unit in the hospital / sympathetic GP who might be able to speed things along! When was your due date? I can only imagine the frustration if you have passed it. It was bad enough for me being induced at 39 weeks and 5 days. I tried to get them to induce me a bit early as well.

Lots of love and strong eviction notices sent to babs.

I had my sweep yesterday and have had more pressure and period-like twinges today but nothing much happening yet. Before they did my sweep they checked me out and I was 2 cm dilated and my cervix length had shortened to 0.5 cm - without me even realising this all was happening! But it doesn't necessarily mean things will progress quickly so just in case my induction has been booked for 9 days' time. I so hope I can start feeling proper contractions soon and get this show on the road!

I'm still here. Midwife tried and failed to do sweep on Thursday - apparently cervix too posterior for her to reach although she did touch the baby's head and it has engaged further than she thought by examining my abdomen. Bishops score less than 3. She will try to give a sweep on Monday and I'm provisionally booked in for prostaglandin gel Tuesday evening and then induction Wednesday although I'd rather see if I can avoid that. If I'm healthy and the baby is healthy then it would be better to have monitoring I think and let nature take its course. But I'll be 42 weeks next Thursday....fed up and getting down now

newbishad · 06/06/2008 19:15

Hi Gingerwench,

I just thought I'd let you know that I was about as far gone as you when I was induced because of my DVT.
I only needed one prostaglandin gel to get going and my waters artifically broken.
But still would be better if you went naturally.

Lots of love and eviction notices.

feeling much better today, well over my sulk now with the aid of numerous curly-wurly's and mars bars. Bump still a bump but managing OK as I slept suprisingly well last night - only 40 mins or so at a time but I was able to go back to sleep each time, which hasn't been happening for a while. Still feel I need more sleep tho, so perhaps bubba could stay in for a day or two more? God I'm fickle!

gingerwench · 08/06/2008 15:13

Thanks Newbishad. At least I had a show yesterday afternoon, and some period-type aches now...so something is happening!

vicsta · 09/06/2008 10:38

Good luck Ginger! Hope I'm not too far behind you

gingerwench · 09/06/2008 15:11

I had a sweep this morning and Bishops' score is now 5 and midwife is optimistic if the sweep doesn't kick things off then a single dose of gel (planned tomorrow evening) will do the trick.

I feel like the end/or the beginning is in sight!

newbishad · 10/06/2008 11:35

Hi Gingerwench,

Good luck. Hopefully by the time you receive this you'll be well on the way if not have the baby!

Lots of love,

vicsta · 12/06/2008 11:19

Sympathies Ampster, know exactly how you feel.
Good Luck

Congratulations Charlotte 121. You must be delighted she is there at last.

Glad your Mumw as there. Mine was there for me as well.

I also got a second degree tear. Make sure you get them to check it if it hurs a lot. I got an infection in mine.

gingerwench · 16/06/2008 14:00

My little boy arrived Wednesday evening - gel on Tuesday night, stay overnight in hospital, contractions from 5am, waters were broken midday and with just some gas and air our baby arrived six hours later. A second degree tear needed a couple of stitches but I was able to go home from hospital the next day. 8lb and 6oz of pure joy!

Congrats to Charlotte121 and Mumw

newbishad · 16/06/2008 14:05

Congratulations Gingerwench!

We were due on the same day and our babies were preactically the same weight! Emily was 8lbs 7 ozs. I was also induced.

Let us know when you find a name.

Lots of love NS XXX

sorry forgot to say - Peter William

ampster · 17/06/2008 23:08

I was induced too! On 12th June. They broke my waters and put me on a drip at 11am. Contractions / epidural / pushing and he was out by 8.10pm. No external tears or instruments needed for delivery, small tear inside that required 2 stitches. Jimmy is lovely and healthy, 7lb 7oz. Unfortunately the placenta wouldn't come out by itself so I had to have surgery to remove it. While I was under I apparently had a postpartum haemmorhage and lost nearly 3 litres of blood (normal loss is 1 litre) so had to have a blood transfusion the next day. Fun fun fun! But whatever, Jimmy is here now and he's beautiful.

Childbirth, btw, was brutal - even though my delivery was straightforward and quick for a first time. Now I finally understand what everyone's been going on about. After the birth I looked at my (brilliant) midwife and said 'That was awful.' She replied 'I know. But you'll soon forget.' But that's what I'm afraid of - that I'll forget, and do it all again...

charlotte121 · 18/06/2008 01:07

congratulations to all the new mummies. I was breast feeding but gave up after a week. my poor nipples look like they have been attacked. bf was making me very depressed too for some reason. i think it may have had something to do with the amount of pain i was experiancing whilst doing it, plus dd is very very hungry! I dont think i could keep up with her. Much happier now im bottle feeding and dd seems more content too!

Just wanted to say dont beat yourself up if you dont manage to brest feed or give dc a dummy. being a parent is soooo difficult and if its making you miserable then chances r it will make dc miserable too. Enjoy the babies. x
