Hi Vicsta,

Thanks for asking. No I am being induced because I have a deep vein thrombosis and my medication needs to be controlled or I am at risk of haemorrhage.

I join you on being too hot, too big, can't sleep and now I have back ache to add to the milleu. While I was in hospital today I got really bad siatica and they had to get a wheelchair for me!

Lots of love,

NS.

Becky77 · 13/05/2008 09:13

Is anyone else still at work? It'd be much easier if it weren't so hot!

ampster · 13/05/2008 11:30

finished work, hurrah! so, er, what do i do now?

Becky77 · 13/05/2008 11:34

wash the babygrows?

I still need to buy for my hospital bag:

cheap flip flops
small packet of tissues
flashwipes
big cheap knickers
snacks and drinks
stop clock
mini selection of toiletries

newbishad · 14/05/2008 17:33

Hi all,

Yes we've been washing as well. We've so much stuff now! Clothes mainly, passed on from my niece who is now 7.

Lots of love

Hello everyone!

Newbishad - that's less than 2 weeks, yikes. Very exciting for you.

Becky - I am working from home today and tomorrow and finish work on Friday. And I cannot wait.

Weather here a bit cooler and better today - but looks like a hot weekend again ladies. I cannot recommend putting big fat swollen feet into freezing cold water enough, it's the only thing that makes me feel human again when it's really hot.

I bought some cheap HUGE knickers (not disposable), and due to laundry emergency grabbed a pair to wear the other day. They were so comfy.... Also so unattractive, but I don't care! It was being so damned sexy that got me into this mess.

Re: milk for indigestion, I was told not to use full fat milk as the fat can make the burn even worse. Should be semi skimmed or ideally fully skimmed if you can bear it. Unfortnately milk doesn't help me. Not eating after 8pm and hardly drinking does though...

newbishad · 14/05/2008 18:49

Thanks Pregnantpenguin. I just can't wait. I see your due on 12th June. Nopt long now.

charlotte121 · 16/05/2008 18:23

heya ladies... just getting my hosp bag together. Bought some cute little toiletries in asda... little individual bottles of panten and dove. may have to be induced at the beginning of next week as the baby appears to have stopped growing so their worried about problems with the placenta i think... Im sooooo no ready for another baby and i have just found out the date for my new kitchen to be fitted is the 10th of june.... great timeing. Had a huge problem with ants getting in with all this hot weather. I have tried everything to get rid of them and i think i am finallly winning the battle!!! They have been driving me mad!!!
I dont know if anyone else has been attending NCT classes but i have. They have been really good and interesting... knowing my luck i wont get to go to the last one on monday becoz of having a scan.
Im quite worried about having this scan as weell as i have to go on my own... everytone is too busy to come with me, just hope there is nothing heavy to deal with if something is up with my bump. better go ds is getting cranky for his dinner. char x

Arghhh my SPD is starting to get troublesome now, but I'm so happy to have reached the full term 37 week mark!

And I'm very happy that the hot weather has gone for now

How is everyone else doing?? What snacks are you taking to the hospital? Are you going for glucose tablets because of the vomitting thing or just whatever you fancy??

PregnantPenguin · 18/05/2008 22:52

Hi Becky - I'll be 37 weeks on Thursday and am counting down the days. I've started mat leave now and have this weird feeling that LO will turn up next weekend, no reason for this whatsoever, just that as I'm not working what else shall I do!? "Well I'll have a week off and then give birth!" Bet I'm still here at the end of June....

Labour snacks - I'm planning on taking lots of dried fruit as it gives me a relatively healthy sugar boost for energy. Also it should help with the apparently scary 1st post baby toilet trip...

gingerwench · 19/05/2008 09:59

Labour snacks - I've gone for dried fruit and cereal bars too and I think DH will make a stack of sarnies to keep him going (if he gets enough warning that is!)

mum2bx3 · 19/05/2008 10:10

Labour snacks - so far I've got choc bars, crisps, jaffa cakes and bottles of coke lol can see the midwifes frowning at me already. Maybe I should hide those or pretend they're for DP and take healthy stuff in too.

Hospital bag packed and ready to go!!

newbishad · 19/05/2008 12:03

Hi all,

I'm just starting to think about my hospital bag which is a bit silly as I am due to go in next week for my induction. Also I have intermitant pains. Not sure what these are. Vague cramp like pains that could be caused by the iron tablets I have to take or something more exciting. My due date isn't until 29th May and it's a first baby so I think it's more likely to be iron tablets unfortunately. V. uncomfotable though and counting the minutes.

I think I'll probably go for dried fruit, cereal bars, crisps (which I love), banarnas and fruit bars. I'm eating quite a lot already. Despite having a full evening meal I am waking up hungry in the middle of the night.

Love NS XXXX

Becky77 · 19/05/2008 16:38

I'm really not a fan of dried fruit though... cereal bars are good, I'll pack some of those... but if it's a really long labour I'll be wanting something savoury maybe some nuts. I cant bring myself to drink lucozade... It'll give me flash backs of my GTT test bluerghhh!

So who's due date is first? newisbad by the looks of it... Have you gone over your EDD, hence the induction?

We're due on June 7th...

gingerwench · 20/05/2008 11:08

oh yes the GTT test - the only time I've ever drunk Lucozade - never again - bleugh!

newbishad · 22/05/2008 08:36

Hi all,

How are you?

I spent yesterday at the hospital because I have to be closely monitored due to my DVT. They think I am in the arly stages of labour and I have to go back this morning for more obs to be taken. They said last night they thought labour might start anywhere between 12-24 hours but then again I have read the May thread which I belong to as well and there are stories on there where these symptoms go on for weeks.

Things have quitened a little over-night. Enough to allow me to sleep!

Lots of love,

NS XXXX

ampster · 22/05/2008 08:55

due next wednesday, 28th.... terrible edema in my hands (feet ok though!). getting so frustrated that all i can really do about it is have the damn baby. there must be something else! i've cut out salt and i'm drinking loads of water, blah blah blah. bored since i finished work yet don't want to start any new projects because what's the point with the baby coming any day now? how do other people cope with this 'waiting' period?

Becky77 · 22/05/2008 09:10

Awww good luck newbishad!!

@ Ampster - not long to go now!! I'd just sleep as much as possible in preparation for the big day... That's what I plan to do once I've finished work! That and my hypnotherapy CD and washing babygrows!

newbishad · 22/05/2008 15:06

Thanks all.

My predictions were right. I still have to wait!

vicsta · 22/05/2008 18:24

Seen MW today, baby has done a little breakdancing and is now in a much better position. 4/5 engaged so still have a way to go. Bet I'm the only one left on here at the end of June! Have an appointment for a sweep on June 5th (2 days after due date) so MW obviously not hopeful either!Feeling a fair bit of low back ache & BH starting to be a bit painful now and again. Wish I could sleep better. Don't know how I'm going to cope now I've finished work. I've done all the housework, watched every episode of Top Gear Dave has to offer and even managed a low maintenance haircut. Have so far resisted all temptation to cut the grass. How are you all coping? I know I should be making the most of it, but I'm BORED!!! Not long for you now Newbi, Good Luck

newbishad · 22/05/2008 18:54

Hi all,

I join you on the sleep issue.

NS XXXX

mum2bx3 · 23/05/2008 10:12

HEARTBURN!!

Managed about 3 hours sleep last night , if I'm not waddling to the loo every hour and a half then I'm constantly regurgitating acid lol.

Said to midwife at last antenatal that I reckon I'll get more sleep when DC arrives as certainly not getting much at the mo!

Oh the joys!

charlotte121 · 24/05/2008 19:28

woo hoo only 1 week left for me... if the baby is here on time. feeling very jealous. Im due first out of everyone in my NCT class but 2 people have had their babies already... no fair. I have been dreading the whole thing up til now but im actually starting to get realy excited. Benn nesting all day... kitchen and lounge are now spotless so just got the rest of the house to get done over the weekend. I feel very determined to get it immaculate throughout... maybe its a sign of the bump coming??? who knows. Hosp bag totally packed now although im going to have to re-stock my labour snacks. Got a bit peckish in the night and munched my way through a huge stack of flapjacks. Have packed flapjacks, cake bars, mini chedders and a bottle of squash in my bag but think i might add a bit more. Last time i was starving and there was no food on the ward so i just had to suffer in silence till dp brought me loads of cakes and sausage rolls the next day. Put a few magazines in too for after the birth so that i can have something to do if the baby decides to sleep.

Good luck everyone... sure someone is bound to have their little bundle of joy soon. How exciting!!! Hope everyone starts getting more sleep. My son is paying up at the moment so i can understand everyone who is tired and the heartburn is driving me insain. Have never really experianced it b4 this birth but it is awful!!!
Have a good weekend, Im off to an incredibly cheesy eurovision party!!! Any one else doing anything nice? char x x x

Hi all,

I'll probably not be writing for a while as I am due for my induction tomorrow.

Hope you are all not feeling too uncomfortable and you are getting some sleep.

Hope there are some arrivals soon.

Love NS XXXX

charlotte121 · 25/05/2008 11:25

heya NS Good luck with your induction. I bet your really excited at the prospect of seeing the little one!!! I hope you spend the day relaxing... get loads of rest and chill out with your feet up. I expect the reality of it all will be that your nervous and rushing round like a tornado, but dont forget about yourself! Sounds cheesy but remember your body is designed to do this... thats what i keep telling myself anyways!

Let us all know when you have had ur bundle of joy. I hope everything goes well for you! How are you feeling about it all??? char x
