Does increased nausea indicate a girl?

I am currently pregnant with my first baby (I am only 11 weeks so don’t know the sex yet). My hairdresser asked how I’d been feeling so I said that I’ve been ok, just very tired and hungry, but I’ve not been feeling particularly sick. My hairdresser said that she thinks I’ll be having a boy, because most people who don’t feel too sick tend to have boys.
I did some googling on this just due to being bored and it seems there is some truth in this, though obviously it can’t be relied on! There was a study done in America in 2020 of over 3000 participants and it concluded that there does seem to be a higher incidence of nausea and sickness for those that give birth to girls.
I’m just wondering what you all think about this, have you noticed anything similar yourselves or amongst your friends?

Had HG and had a boy, so no truth for me!

teatoast8 · 28/10/2024 19:07

Wasn't sick with either, had girl and a boy. No truth to it

DramaAlpaca · 28/10/2024 19:08

I had three boys. With each pregnancy the sickness got worse, so no truth in it for me!

Fisharenotfoods · 28/10/2024 19:09

I had awful HG with my boy and milder HG with my girl so another not fitting that trend

Hummusanddipdip · 28/10/2024 19:10

I love an old wives tale, however, I was sick throughout the first trimester, lost almost 1 stone with ds1, no sickness with ds2.

I did however carry all front and suffer from massive amounts of heartburn with both pregnancies which indicated boys and lots of hair respectively when you go with the tales and both held true, my boys were well both boys and both extra fluffy 🤣

tiredsince2020 · 28/10/2024 19:11

It’s an old wives tale. I was sick in my first pregnancy which turned out to be a boy, and not in my second girl pregnancy. You’ll have to come and update!

JC89 · 28/10/2024 19:12

Nope, I was equally sick with DS and DD

FindingMeno · 28/10/2024 19:12

I only had girls. No morning sickness at all.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/10/2024 19:13

I felt great with DS1 and horribly nauseous for 7 months with DS2 (I was convinced that he would be a girl so was a nice surprise - I secretly wanted two boys).

justusandthecat · 28/10/2024 19:14

I had about a week of morning sickness with my girl.
Same as @Hummusanddipdip I suffered from really bad heartburn and she was born with a full head of hair. I didn't even know that was a thing until a woman in our village took one look at the baby and said "I bet you had shocking heartburn didn't you"

professionaloverthinker · 28/10/2024 19:15

Absolutely no sickness or nausea and 25 weeks with a girl

tillytoodles1 · 28/10/2024 19:15

I was really sick with both of mine. First one was a boy, awful heartburn too, but he was baldy. Second one was a girl, no heartburn, but she had loads of hair.

sel2223 · 28/10/2024 19:17

Honestly, there is no way to tell boy or girl from your symptoms, it's a myth!

I'm pregnant with my second girl and my symptoms in both pregnancies have been completely different. As have my cravings. These old wives tales should all be taken with a pinch of salt, they'll be 'right' 50% of the time- my first born had a full head of hair when born but I barely had any heartburn. This time I'm suffering badly so time will tell!

My mum had 4 kids - 3 girls and a boy - and not a day of sickness or nausea with any of us!

LoveBluey · 28/10/2024 19:21

2 girls, no sickness either time.

GoldCat255 · 28/10/2024 19:21

Hairdressers, the majestic and inexhaustible fountain of profound and unparalleled wisdom when it comes to pregnancy knowledge.
NOT.
Utter twaddle. It could be either a girl or a boy.

Exactly the same here!

SnapdragonToadflax · 28/10/2024 19:24

Terrible nausea and heartburn, and had a fairly bald boy.

Thiswayorthatway · 28/10/2024 19:25

OP, no.

Nottodayplease36 · 28/10/2024 19:25

I was much sicker with my girl than boys.

StarDolphins · 28/10/2024 19:26

With all my friends & me it did!

I also think you follow your mum’s gender pattern.

WildeWalker · 28/10/2024 19:27

I’m 24 weeks with a boy and the pregnancy this time has been much kinder than when I was pregnant with my daughter. Its a myth but rang true for me

wiesowarum · 28/10/2024 19:27

No.

Isitfridayyetsophie · 28/10/2024 19:27

I had HG and still had sickness up to the day he was born, so not true for me!

DanceMumTaxi · 28/10/2024 19:28

This was true for me. Sick until about week 16 with ds, but VERY sick all the way through with dd. It was horrific.

vegaspot · 28/10/2024 19:31

Absolutely no scientific evidence regarding nausea, bump presentation etc .Only a scan will tell you what sex your baby is.
FWIW I had two boys and a girl. All pregnancies similar with no nausea .
