Does increased nausea indicate a girl?

I am currently pregnant with my first baby (I am only 11 weeks so don’t know the sex yet). My hairdresser asked how I’d been feeling so I said that I’ve been ok, just very tired and hungry, but I’ve not been feeling particularly sick. My hairdresser said that she thinks I’ll be having a boy, because most people who don’t feel too sick tend to have boys.
I did some googling on this just due to being bored and it seems there is some truth in this, though obviously it can’t be relied on! There was a study done in America in 2020 of over 3000 participants and it concluded that there does seem to be a higher incidence of nausea and sickness for those that give birth to girls.
I’m just wondering what you all think about this, have you noticed anything similar yourselves or amongst your friends?

Had HG with first dd although was no such thing them so was told some women just have horrific morning sickness, fainting etc second dd I had no morning sickness at all. Also carried first high and second low so that blew my nans theory out the water too. Oh and terrible heartburn with first - totally bald second no heartburn full head of hair. And finally told both babies would be small around 5-6lbs both over 8lbs and Hella long ! Good luck 👍

Floralnomad · 28/10/2024 20:59

I had HG with both of my pregnancies and have got one of each so I would say no .

Borgonzola · 28/10/2024 21:01

No, I've had horrible sickness with both

SoporificLettuce · 28/10/2024 21:03

Yes, it seems to be that more sickness = a girl but I think this only applies after you have had your first and have a benchmark against which to measure how sick you feel.

Theresnoroomonthebroom · 28/10/2024 21:09

I've had two boys and with both I was as sick as a dog!

Sayshesheshe · 28/10/2024 21:13

Reasons I’ve been told I was having a boy by multiple people (we didn’t find out)

  • Barely any sickness
  • Have stayed fit and healthy throughout (was swimming the day before birth last week)
  • Look ‘glowing’ with a plump face
  • very low bump
  • small bump
  • couldn’t tell I was pregnant from behind

Our baby is most definitely a girl!

Blauehortensie · 28/10/2024 21:14

One of each, equally sick with both

Janella · 28/10/2024 21:41

Much more sick with my boy x

MammaPee · 28/10/2024 21:42

Had HG with both a DS and DD, though with my DD it was a worse.

Had HG and had a boy, so no truth for me!

Yep me too! Luckily he's the best boy in all the world, so he was worth it Grin

I felt great with DS1 and horribly nauseous for 7 months with DS2 (I was convinced that he would be a girl so was a nice surprise - I secretly wanted two boys).

Exactly the same for me too.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/10/2024 21:50

I had HG in both pregnancies and have a son and a daughter.

fuckyourpronouns · 28/10/2024 21:53

I had no sickness with either child and I have one of each!

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 28/10/2024 21:54

Girl twins. No sickness.

tediber · 28/10/2024 22:07

Load of nonsense to be honest as are most of not all the old wives tales. Wasn't sick at all or felt it and I had a girl. Second felt sick and dizzy from 11-18wks, also a girl.

Also had terrible heartburn with both of them. One had very little hair, I was expecting a full on hairy baby 😂 second one had lots of dark hair though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ellsx6 · 28/10/2024 22:11

Nope.. mums had 2 girls 2 boys and was very sick with all of them equally. I'm 22weeks with a boy and not been sick once. It's how your body reacts to the hormones :)

Yellowgoldsunshine · 28/10/2024 22:34

When I was pregnant with my boy I had hardly any pregnancy symptoms. Very little sickness or nausea, no cravings and had that pregnancy glow! I was however very hungry haha.

I'm exact same as how you describe right now! 22+2 with a boy and I've gained 1st8lbs so far!! Currently thinking about toast and cereal while I'm in bed and fighting the urge to go down stairs and have both because I won't be able to decide..oh also DH just got home from work and grabbed a papa John's on way back..he asked if I wanted anything and I said no because I'm trying to resist eating everything in sight but I know if I go downstairs right now I'll have a pick at his pizza too! I just can't stop😅

HangingOutInRaccoonCity · 29/10/2024 00:46

Was true for me. No sickness with ds except occasional nausea but I drank a lot of ginger beer with Dd as I felt it helped with the constant sickness.

AbbeyGrange · 29/10/2024 00:51

Total myth I'm afraid, if you remember the Princess of Wales was hospitalized with morning sickness when pregnant with George, I've had a boy and girl and had no sickness at all...

AutumnColours9 · 29/10/2024 00:58

Yes it did for me (4 DDs 3DSs)

Whoknowswhatanymore · 29/10/2024 06:02

All girls and no sickness at all.

sel2223 · 29/10/2024 06:07

I think there's an article and study on everything these days isn't there? - I prefer responses of real people like on this thread which clearly show you can't tell the sex of your unborn child through a symptom or other old wives tale.
It's just a bit of fun, everyone likes to guess and predict what you are having, it's all part of the pregnancy excitement bubble.
Statistically speaking, probably half the people guessing will be correct 😉

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 29/10/2024 06:07

HG both boy pregnancies. Vomiting 6-15 times a day throughout entire pregnancy, even during the c section births. So no, not always girls.
