jeanjeannie so pleased that LO will have clothes to wear and possibly a pram to sit in now your DH has lent a hand

Bah@Rubik's Cube. I hate it! Hated it first time around int he '80's and now I'm married to a bloody cube freak!

Yeah the nocturnal weeing has never left me from finding out I was pregnant. I must have a bladder the size of a petit pois.

So glad I haven't yet seen WTD this week although I've taped it...might just delete it before I watch it if it's so nightmarish

As for coming on holiday with us jeanjeannie, I'm not delivering you in the back of our car. NO WAY! Just had it valeted

LouiseAnn · 21/05/2008 12:19

Hello all,

johnworf - yes, get a DVD player for the car. We bought a cheap one and our 8yo loves it. We only use it on long journeys. At that age they like to watch films again and again.

LouiseAnn · 21/05/2008 12:21

Hedgepig - good news about the scan. I know it is such a relief.

Pwcbird - all the best for this afternoon.

johnworf · 21/05/2008 12:56

Thanks LouiseAnn I think we'll get him one. We're travelling from Manchester to Newquay which is probably the long journey he's ever done so I can almost hear the 'are we there yet', 'I'm bored' as we speak. This punctuated for my loo stops should make it a fantastic journey. By my reckoning I think we'll do it in 2 days!

jeanjeannie · 21/05/2008 15:31

Pah johnworf you're no fun at all.....**kicks back of car seat, encouraging JWs DSS to do the same Well, at least I want a pastie bringing back....Cornwall to manchester and then down to Bucks...be lovely when it gets here....better than hospital food

Hi louiseann (waves) how are you doing? Feeling ok?

DD-free day has turned into a sleep festival - although got stuff down from the loft...OOooo, we felt all emotional...some of her clothes were sooo tiny. She went right down to 3lbs 8oz - has dresses that look like dolls clothes...Awwww.

Should I get a decent bouncer chair thing? Just that I had one with dd and it didn't do anything...she sat there looking uncomfy. Thinking of buying one with a mobile that vibrates.....keep new DC occupied....any thoughts on them?

johnworf · 21/05/2008 15:51

Mamas and Papas do a vibrating chair with a toy attached at the front - have a look on ebay for Barnaby Button.

I have the BabyBjorn 1-2-3 which goes up to 3 years old. I bought it second hand though - there's no way I'd pay of £70 for a bouncy chair!!

I look at the clothes I've bought for our LO (I have nothing from my last child, he's 17 now so it would have been babygro's with bell bottoms) and I get a lump in my throat thinking that something sooooo tiny could fit in them.

As for the pastie, I'll post it to your hospital bed before the mould sets in. How's about that for service! You can BF and scoff at same time! Just brush crumbs off baby's face when you've finished tho....

mrsjupiter · 21/05/2008 16:33

My internet connection's been out and now too tired to catch up properly. Couple of things caught my eye - Terry = sex? You've got to be kidding.

Hope to wake up to good news in the morning babycakes and pwcbird

Good news hedgepig, congratulations.

Will catch up properly tomorrow.

pwcbird · 21/05/2008 16:37

Hey guesswhat.... I'M HAVING A BABY!

Good news folks. It's real. Baby all correct (and only 1 much to relief of DH who's only concern was the thought of me having twins and how he was going to pay for them). All arms/legs/spine/brain etc present and everything 100% ticketyboo. So relieved. Also nuchal came back v. good 1:2100 so didn't have CVS. Very relieved as I was really anxious about having it. Only thing was baby was dancing constantly so they took ages to get measurements and were pressing down quite hard on my tummy for absolutely ages - I feel pummeled and quite sore. But very happy lady

johnworf · 21/05/2008 17:40

pwcbird congratulations that you're having a baby! Coincidence or what? So am I!

And what flavour is said baby or didn't you want to know?

I hate to say 'I told you so' about the worrying etc. But 'I told you so'

msdynamo · 21/05/2008 17:53

Congratulations pwcbird, at last you have made it past the first trimester. I'm close behind with just 3 weeks to go. Until the 12 week thing it all feels like a fairytale.

Are our 40 something single mother pals still out there? Haven't heard from you in a while?

pwcbird · 21/05/2008 19:34

It was so nice to see the baby. No flavour yet as too early -have to wait to 20 weeks but will for sure want to know then. msdynamo you will be so excited when it's your turn.

DH has just gone to the offy to get some 'celebratory beers' as he calls them (any excuse of course)and has come back with a bottle of wine for me . All very nice but a bit mental. I'll sip on one glass to be nice, and then it's going to sit in the fridge. It's rose which he hates so it can't have been a ploy to drink it himself (pink wine for the laydees in his opinion). Is he mad? Has he got some kind of memory problem where he's forgotten I can't drink?

Going to collapse on sofa now. DS in bed and I ain't doin' no more today!

jeanjeannie · 21/05/2008 19:50

pwcbird...your having a BABY....WOO HOO!!!!! Awww....I was going to have a bet on it being a kitten - or a puppy SO pleased for you - you sip on that rose girl. I'll have a celebratory bag of crisps....apparently the salt is good for my low blood pressure - that's my excuse

Have been looking at bouncers....I'm going to invest...OOooo...shopping...goodee *claps hands

hedgepig · 21/05/2008 19:57

well done PWCbird fab nucal result too. Pity about the wine, I have had the odd glass since 12 weeks and the same things happens, it sits in the fridge until it goes off. I was wondering if you could freeze it in ice cubes and then thaw a couple of cubes when you fancied your next drink .

Jeanjennie when is your baby due? I may go and try and find the list, if I can find the energy.

hedgepig · 21/05/2008 20:05

msdynamo · 21/05/2008 20:58

Just watched that programme Baby Race on Sky 3, which I thought was going to be a trashy show about babies racing against each other! It was mentioned on this thread a few weeks ago. It was really absorbing and had me in tears. For those who haven't seen it it's all about single women in their late thirties and early forties who decide to have babies by various means. Tonight there was a disabled woman, and another woman who adopted a gorgeous chinese baby. And then another women who, inconceivably, didn't give up smoking after finally becoming pg following years of IVF. Her baby was born healthy luckily.

Did anyone else see it?

jeanjeannie · 21/05/2008 20:59

NORFOLK! Fab hedgepig thanks...I LOVE Norfolk.....waddles upstairs to pack bag....*sings merrily
So - as long as we're back for 6.30am the following Friday then I'm good to go!!!

hedgepig · 21/05/2008 21:19

no I haven't seen it msdynamo but it sounds fascinating although I would end up in tears with all the emotion of it. I blab at anything these days! actually I blab at anything even when I'm not pg.

"JJ" bring a bucket and spade cos we have serious sandcastles to make and holes to dig.

johnworf · 21/05/2008 21:20

Sorry pwcbird I got mixed up...again. Thought you were off to your 20 week scan. Doh! It's bubba flavour for now methinks

Wow, that list scares me...I can see where I am in relation to everyone else and suddenly it seems so near, so final....I'm crapping myself

Ah wine...another thing of the past. Along with cigarettes and chocolate. I'm a shadow of my former self - and healthier for it. I'm vowing not to go back to my vices post birth

I'm just thinking that jeanjeannie is hatching an escape plan to go on holiday with anyone who will allow her to stowaway. But it won't work you know JJ as it won't get you off the hook for giving birth...mwahahahaha

Anyway, just found a big tub of body shop coconut butter and DH has offered a foot massage......(makes Homer Simpson drooling noises)

pwcbird · 22/05/2008 08:44

Hey jeanjeannie do you want to go to Spain? We're actually going on the 30th so you could give birth flying over the Bay of Biscay or similar. Not sure what medical facilities Easy Jet have to offer and you may have to run to grab yourself a seat on the plane but you're more than welcome

Well, just to finish off a lovely, positive day, DH and I had a row at the end of the evening and I threw a glass of water on the floor and it smashed and I walked out of the room and went to bed and left him to clear it all up. I just got fed up with his guzzling of his 'celebratory beers' and then watching the bloody match and then saying how it was 'his day off'... errr... wasn't it about the scan and the baby and about us and all that??? Bloody MEN! I think I was just so tired and it got to me. He was too hungover to speak this morning and shuffled off to work looking fairly sheepish. They are hopeless emotionally repressed nincompoops .

Anyway - now I've vented I feel better

johnworf · 22/05/2008 08:59

awwww hugs to pwcbird. You poor thing. Yep, they are all the same if it's any consolation. I left mine swilling beer and monster munch down his neck (also watching the footy) and went to bed with a book.

It does help in my case that my hormones have kinda plateaued out and I'm not at the screaming banshee stage (I have been there, believe me) of the first trimester.

He'll come home tonight and won't give it a second thought - if he's anything like my DH. Meanwhile, if it was me, I'd be on the bed, crying my eyes out.

Hope you're feeling better today though pwcbird and keep that lovely thought that your scan went really well yesterday

Oh! the thought of giving birth on an Easyjet plane . It's hard enough sitting down on one let alone lying down on one. On the upside, you could put bubs (once born) in overhead compartment and order yourself a double G&T

pwcbird · 22/05/2008 10:15

Well throwing glasses of water about wasn't exactly a good idea - especially with a toddler in the house so I was hoovering first thing this morning in case any bits had been missed. I know it's the hormones that makes the red mist descend and I'll be glad when that improves. I was just so tired too that all perspective went out of the window. He did try to give me a hug this morning but I was half hearted about it. It'll be fine tonight.

johnworf · 22/05/2008 11:08

Yeah you will pwcbird. It was probably a very big day for both of you - more you, with all the worry beforehand. I had a good cry after my 12 weeks scan. No idea why. Probably relief after my previous MC.

Look under the sofa btw, you missed a bit!!

jeanjeannie · 22/05/2008 12:35

Morning all!
WOW - all these holiday offers....you're all too kind. Spain is GOOD.....birth on Easyjet is BAD But, with the thought of a G&T at the end of it...I could give it a go..... Is EJ still decked out in orange?....only I do have two bright orange prams....perhaps it's destiny???!

Just been to last midwife appointment....dd loved hearing the heartbeat....makes her laugh. And, as I thought it's slipped into the back-to-back position...I could see a dip in my tummy and the movements felt different. So - if I was after a VBAC, it would've put the end to that. The c-sec decision is looking more and more the right one for us this time round - despite my initial reservations.

pwcbird hope DH is feeing suitable c*ap this morning. Think the word 'nicompoop' is wonderful - much under used - and so fitting to describe our male loved ones.

Have my spending head on today. Shall purchase bouncer (love the M&P ones....think it's a done deal cheers johnworf for the tip) and I fancy something silly.....something pregnancy/baby unrelated.....something for ME, ME, ME ! x

mrsjupiter · 22/05/2008 12:35

Day been crazy. Still haven't caught up properly, but have managed to catch that congratulations are in order pwcbird. Lovely to hear more good news.

Thinking about you babycakes.

Got coaching session to do shortly with a new guinea pig so must go prepare.

Hope to catch up tomorrow.

johnworf · 22/05/2008 12:48

mrsjupiter my baby mind is racing with what you can possibly coach a guinea pig to do? Is it entering for the 2012 olympics?

Gives jeanjeannie a list of stuff to buy that are totally frivolous (or in johnworf speak, a list of things she wants):

a very large weekend Radley bag (black)
a new pair of Birkenstocks
New Orla Keily mugs
a pair of Tiffany Kiss studs
full range of Molton Brown goodies
a large piece of tarte au citron
anything from the new Boden summer catalogue
a pair of size 7 PINK SEDARBY Manolo's

There you go JJ. Take your pick - and a wad of cash or a few credit cards
