I have found out VERY early that I am pregnant and due early June (I am only 10dpo today) and found out yesterday I am pregnant (22 Sept)

Wanted to start this thread for those of you who have also just found out :) I found the thread when I was pregnant with my son super helpful!

I'm Lexie, 32, have a 14 month old son so am just squeezing in 2 under 2 :)

I’ve just received a call for the midwife and having my booking appointment next week Thursday which will make me 7 weeks. They’re also going to book me in for a scan for the following week with me having the ectopic in June. Very happy as I was going to book a private scan once I was 8 weeks to make sure all was okay so saves me money!
Is anybody else still testing? I’ve been doing tests every few days to make sure the line is getting darker/showing quicker and today I had a dye stealer! I done two just to check and both were dye stealers. I know there’s a lot of uncertainty around dye stealers but atm I’ll take anything to keep my mind at ease.
Hope everything is going well with everyone else xx

glad you got your scan for free, hopefully that will put your mind at ease!

Sorry, what is a dye stealer?

I did a test today just to ease my mind but don’t think I’ll do anymore. I’m six weeks today.

I think I’ll book a scan for next week or week 8 - not sure which would be best!

EalingLucy · 28/10/2024 17:39

Oh, one funny thing is a craving for sweets such as Haribo etc - I never usually eat them but want them all the time! Scratching the itch with strawberries but not quite the same

It’s where the test line shows darker than the control line. Some people say that it’s due to hcg levels being so high that the test line steals the dye from the control line making it darker. I don’t think there is a lot of scientific evidence to back it but I’ll take anything to ease my mind at the minute!
I think you’ll see a lot more on the scan at week 8, but that being said you can see a heartbeat from 6 weeks so I would just go with whatever you feel is best for you! I think in the early stages that anything that will help lower your stress levels is the best option😊

Ah that makes sense, thank you! I think I had a dye stealer yesterday.

yes we’ll see on timing of scan - I’ve gone to feeling quite chilled and happily surprised yesterday to today turning into a Google monster wanting reassurance about everything!! Part of me doesn’t want to do a scan in case it’s bad news, im so convinced this won’t work :(

I realise this is probably normal anxiety given hormones etc but still, not fun eh!

If you ovulate a little late then definitely don't book your scan too early, I ovulate around day 17 and there wasn't anything to see when EPU scanned me at 6 weeks so I'm going back at 8.

First trimester anxiety is such a real thing and I was so unprepared for it!

YorkshirePeridot · 28/10/2024 18:00

I've been spotting for a full week now, with occasional slightly heavier gushes. Trying not to panic as long as its mild with no pain, got my next EPU appointment a week on wednesday. Off this week for half term and I'm planning on taking it super easy.

I feel you on the scan front! I’ve never made it to a viable scan and wanted to live in ignorant bliss but finally forced myself to book an ultrasound for Saturday where I’ll be 8+1. Absolutely terrified 😬
I haven’t been testing since I had a beta HCG blood draw done when I was 4+4 and that showed good doubling and levels of 650 so I left it at that. I’m just going by the fact I’ve had no spotting/ bleeding and I have the most horrendous nausea and vomiting that I’m still pregnant.
Fully expecting to go into this scan on Saturday though and not have good news. Pregnancy after loss is tough!

LS888 · 28/10/2024 19:27

@LacedBouquet hope your scan goes well- pregnancy after loss sucks. Takes away the early joy and excitement for sure. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻

Haha, I hear you on not being prepared - I was absolutely convinced by the end I was never going to get pregnant, so I hadn’t prepared at all for it! That’s a good tip, thank you. I sometimes ovulate as late as day 22 (although it’s changeable) so reckon I will play safe and wait till week 8.

Aw that sounds so tough, I can really understand your anxiety. Those all sound like really positive signs, so I’m crossing all my fingers for you. I think anxiety is so natural given your history, do try and be kind to yourself xxx

@LS888 @EalingLucy Thank you both 💕

I finally called the doctor today about the vomiting as I’m now vomiting up everything I eat and he wants to see me at 11am to check me over plus test urine. He said he needs to explain about the positives and negatives of taking anti sickness medication in pregnancy. I thought there were some anti sickness drugs that were safe? Anyone else on them or had them for a previous pregnancy?

Hi @LacedBouquet

sorry to hear you’re poorly!

Because they don’t conduct drug trials on people who are pregnant they don’t know what issues it could cause. It would be unethical to do such studies. Therefore its risks vs benefits - if you’re at risk of dehydration it could harm the baby, therefore potentially outweighs risks of taking anti-sickness. No medications are really “safe” in pregnancy as they haven’t been tested and deemed as such, so they all come with risks. They will prescribe the ones commonly used in pregnancy with the lowest risks that are known from others using them.

Hrf1503 · 29/10/2024 13:31

Hello - I’ve been lurking a while but tentatively joining now I’ve got to the 9 week mark.

@LacedBouquet I’ve been super ill as well but there are actually medicines which are deemed safe in pregnancy. Have a look at https://pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/get-help/treatments/ before you go to the Dr as honestly they can be a bit shit. Xonvea is the one which is actually licensed for pregnancy, but there are others where there is pretty good data on safety in pregnancy given how much they’ve been taken.

I started on cyclizine which did absolutely nothing and now on Prochlorperazine - which is one of the ones that don’t have any known evidence of risks but where they don’t have enough data to say for certain. It’s been life changing though, I’ve only been sick twice since I started (was twice a day previously) and I can function again. Good luck!

EmmaTorz · 29/10/2024 16:10

Hi everyone- I have also been lurking. 9 weeks tomorrow. Nauseous but thankfully keeping all my food down, sorry to hear how sick some people are at the moment. Reading back, it looks like the WhatsApp groups are all full - anyone interested in a LGBT/queer/trans WhatsApp group for those due in June? Let me know if so and I will start one if there is interest x

MittensForKittens123 · 29/10/2024 17:27

@EmmaTorz I’m also waiting to join the WhatsApp/ Facebook groups til after I’ve seen a heartbeat (hopefully we will at my scan on Thursday).
I’m not queer etc, but I’d be happy to join a new WhatsApp group if the others are full. Although I think there are settings to make bigger groups, as I’m in a local group with 865 members - I have no idea how to do it though!

LacedBouquet · 29/10/2024 18:42

@MummyMammoth Thank you for this info! And @Hrf1503 welcome and thanks for sharing! Doctor gave me prochlorperazine and after taking it I was sick another 4 times but slowly as the afternoon has gone on I’ve actually stopped being sick so I think it’s working!
He found trace blood in my urine and as I’m not spotting or anything they think could maybe be a hidden UTI so need to go back for a repeat. My blood pressure was also a bit high so need to keep an eye on that too.
@MummyMammoth I know you have a twin pregnancy (big congrats)- do you have lots of sickness? Or any differing symptoms? My GP floated the idea of potentially being pregnant with twins due to the sickness I have which made me do a double take 👀

Hello @LacedBouquet

Similar sickness to when I had my daughter to be honest. Just nausea, no vomiting but feeling absolutely overwhelmingly sick all day long. Difficult to eat or to choose what to eat. Aching in every limb like I have a bad case of flu. Just feel generally deathly.

Im only 6w5d right now, there’s time to feel worse I’m sure 🤣🙈🙈😭😭

From what I’ve read on Dr Google it says there’s no correlation between increased sickness and twins. But some mums find it reassuring to feel unwell as it’s sometimes perceived as a “healthy baby” symptom.

My close friend had hyperemetis gravidarum that she was admitted numerous times with and her babe was a singleton.

Whens your scan booked for?

❤️

Definitely time for you for sure! Hopefully though it won’t be too bad. I started my nausea at 6w and then started vomiting a week ago and it just progressed to now at 7+4.
But interesting that it says more sickness isn’t indicative of twins! I don’t know why my GP mentioned it 🤣
Scan is on Saturday where I’ll be 8+1! The scanxiety has already kicked in. You’ve suffered loss before as well right? I’m just hoping this is finally our viable scan 🙏

Angelselevenx · 29/10/2024 19:36

Anyone not have sickness and much nausea?

Currently 7+3 and had two scans which have gone well, have the odd bought of nausea if I eat too much or let myself get too hungry but other than that I'm feeling absolutely fine. Other than out of breath, sore nips and indigestion etc 😂

Yea, one daughter, tenth pregnancy.

Scan last week @ 5w6d. Got a private scan tomorrow and a repeat scan at the reproductive medicine unit next week.

The anxiety is awful, best of luck for Saturday.

Gosh that is so hard but I’m so pleased you have a daughter and hopefully will be adding twins to the family! I’ve yet to have a child but this is my 7th pregnancy. It’s very different to my losses before. For those my symptoms were much more mild and I never developed proper nausea and sickness plus I bled for all of them. This time I’ve been hit by alllll the symptoms and had no bleeding thankfully.

Best of luck with your next scans! Hopefully they get the heartbeat on the other twin tomorrow 🙏

Hoping so!! Thanks for the luck!! If not, I’ll try not to be too disheartened… it’s next weeks when they will call it. We would be more than happy with one healthy babe.

sorry to hear about your many losses 😔 hoping this time continues to be a polar opposite experience and you get to bring this babe home 🤞🏻🙏🏻

our daughter was our 7th pregnancy! 7 is defo my lucky number! She is the absolute apple of my eye ❤️ truly blessed.

let me know how the scan goes anyway, thinking of you 🫶🏻

Is anyone really hungry?? I’m only 6 +1 and feel like I could eat constantly if I let myself?

also craving carbs and sweets and chocolate!

im wishing the weeks away - I want to get to 12 asap which is maybe a bit silly.

is there anything I need to do apart from the first midwife appointment??

it’s a bit early for booking nct classes and looking at nurseries right??

thinking of a scan in a couple of weeks privately.

Hello!

Congrats!

Eat while you can and make the most of it!

  1. prenatal vitamins inc folic acid!
  2. midwife booking appointment
  3. support group
  4. self care

You can book classes in advance, gives you something to look forward to. Nurseries also - doesn’t hurt to look and they’re often over subscribed.

Theres no hard and fast rules - what’s right for one may not be for another. ❤️
