Wanted to start this thread for those of you who have also just found out :) I found the thread when I was pregnant with my son super helpful!

Just found out a few days ago that I am pregnant and apparently 5w+0 today.

First pregnancy after over a year of trying and not sure I’m able to let myself believe it.

This thread has been so helpful so far - I have been previously diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago although lost weight since. I think that when I’ve had a progesterone blood test it was quite low.

I Saw some comments on here about taking progesterone supplements - if anyone has any time and would be kind enough to explain what for and why I would be really interested to know more about this and if it’s something I should be discussing with my doctor?

very nervous but excited, I just also don’t want to get ahead of myself and end up disappointed!

thanks all in advance from a very nervous first time pregnancy!

Congratulations! We have the same due date SmileSmile I'm not sure about progesterone tablets but I do take pregnacare plus vitamins.

I've had a day on edge with symptoms coming and going, cramping has been constant. I can't help but feel I will be leaving this page soon. Everytime I'm going to the loo I'm terrified I'm going to be bleeding. I didn't feel like this with first so I'm very nervous after miscarriage last year

I completely understand how you're feeling as i didn't experience cramping with my first either, (and also have had a miscarriage in the past) so I assumed the same. I've been reassured that it's a completely normal early pregnancy symptom and my symptoms have been coming and going too. I know it might not help you feel lots better but please know that you're not alone in how you're feeling and try be kind to yourself and your body. I'm feeling a little better now my day of cramping has passed, but it still comes and goes. The fact that you haven't had any bleeding is a good sign - I had bleeding with my miscarriage but no pains and also while pregnant with my first, I had some bleeding but they said it wasn't a concern and just a bit of a clot beside the baba and got rid of itself. Our bodies are magical and no pregnancy is the same as it seems Smilexxx

Morning everybody, I've been lurking the last couple of days but going to tentatively join you all. I'm 36, been ttc for 9 months and got my first ever positive test on Monday. I've tested on two other brands since then including a cb digital this morning and it seems it might actually be happening. Currently 4w4 according to Flo!

I had a lot of bleeding right before my first positive test, in fact I thought at the weekend that my period had come and had some wine 😱 so I'm a little nervous. Haven't bled for a few days now so taking that as a positive sign?

Hello.. I'd like to come on board if only for advice. I'm not pregnant, my 23 year old Daughter is. We're delighted but we've all decided to say nowt until at least the first scan. As Granny I'm allowed to tell my very best friend only who is very very discreet. I think I'll need help with what new babies need from you lovely ladies. I'm going to buy the pregnacare vitamin for Daughter today. Best wishes to you all X

No worries. I'll be 6w exactly (well, if Flo is accurate). They just want to check the location. I might be bit of a wuss but I'm not even sure if I'll dare to look at the screen this time around. Just don't want to get my hopes up.

I just had my scan at 6w. Gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole 😢I was told this could be normal this early on, but we need another scan to confirm it's not bad news. I'm away for 11 days now, so I'll be panicking over this during our holiday. Has anyone ever had a successful pregnancy after similar scan findings?

codemytea · 11/10/2024 10:30

Morning everyone! Hope I can join :)

Had awful pms symptoms last week, and it felt like I was coming down with a cold - turned out I was pregnant! Completely unexpected as my husband and I are in our very very early 20s, so now we're running around and checking what mortgages we can get to buy a home to raise this baby in! (In a 1 bed tiny flat right now)

I'm 6wks today, bloating has been horrible, and I've been nauseous since before I found out, but thankfully no throwing up yet. Pregnancy vitamins (for the folate) arrived yesterday so it's all starting to feel real now! Unlike some of you ladies through I've been constantly freezing, which hasn't been nice with the worsening weather.

I've been having fairly bad shoulder tip pain though (mainly on left side) for the last few days, and was advised to head to the hospital, where I was told I'd have to wait till I'm 12 weeks for a scan to check if it's ectopic? Even with the internal ones? I was under the impression that you could do the internal ultrasound ones a lot earlier, so I'm at a loss what to do from here - please correct me if I'm wrong! I don't have any other of the symptoms however, so fingers crossed it's all alright and I'm worrying about nothing.

Congratulations to everyone on this thread! :)

@LillB - I've heard that fetal pole sometimes doesn't show up in early scans. Hoping for the best!

Daniki · 11/10/2024 10:43

@codemytea that's really wrong advice you've been given there, all scans under at least 10 weeks are internal. With the shoulder tip pain that could definitely indicate an ectopic. I would contact your EPU and see can they fit you in. I really hope it's nothing to worry about but better to get checked sooner rather than later to avoid a bad outcome ❤️

@Daniki Thank you, I thought so as well, but the dr got quite defensive so I didn't query further. I haven't been referred to my local maternity care unit yet as I haven't gone to a gp etc since finding out (I'm in between GPs, switching is taking forever), but I'll give them a ring nonetheless and see if there's anything they can do. Thanks again :)

Bewildened · 11/10/2024 12:00

@codemytea i don’t want to scare you but an ectopic pregnancy is a medical emergency, and shoulder tip pain is the classic symptom. You need to contact your local Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU or EPAU) asap and get them to book you in for a scan. Don’t wait to go via your GP - you should be able to call them direct.

MummyMammoth · 11/10/2024 12:42

Would defo speak to your local Early Pregnancy Unit in your local hospital. I have scans at 7 and 10 weeks via our fertility clinic and you certainly see placement and some anatomy at those times.

MummyMammoth · 11/10/2024 12:45

Joining the group!

12th pregnancy, 1 living daughter. Approx 5 weeks pregnant.

Lots of nausea and food aversion like I had with my daughter so I’m hopeful!

Used luteal phase progesterone, now on progesterone, Pregnacare max and clexane injections.

Everything crossed for everyone!!

MummyMammoth · 11/10/2024 12:52

Happy to help with advice! I have a 2.5yr old daughter too!

congrats!!

codemytea · 11/10/2024 12:53

@Bewildened @MummyMammoth Thank you for this, I'm giving the unit a ring over lunch, and I'll stand my ground this time :(

Also, congratulations @MummyMammoth! I hope everything goes well for you, fingers crossed.

Gooseygander555 · 11/10/2024 22:05

Hi all, hoping to join you for June 2025 due date!
Period due tomorrow but had a positive test yesterday. Don't feel pregnant at all, and completely forgot and had a glass of wine at dinner :/
Hoping this is fine as most people wouldn't even know yet! But man, it's gonna be a mind shift to have to pay attention to what I'm eating and drinking!

Seen lots of people having scans at 6 weeks, is this nhs or private? I didn't know you could get them that early

allthingspinkx · 12/10/2024 08:38

@embomumof1 I'm only 4wks + 5 days but suddenly my boobs have become a lot less sore. Really reassuring to read your post as I was panicking about symptoms coming and going. I also did another test two days after my first one at 4wks 3 days and the line was exactly the same but no darker so I panicked a little. I now don't want to test again in case it's no darker but I think I'll give in later today/tomorrow.

Needcoffee24 · 12/10/2024 10:38

Hello everyone.
So where do I begin... i recently went to the doctors as i couldn't find the strings of my iud. She also couldn't locate them.
I took a pregnancy test two days ago and it came back postive (i have taken a lot more since and are all very strong positives)
I'm going in for a emergency scan tomorrow. I'm 5+1 today. My head is crumbling but I actually do want this baby, but I've searched and heard too many sad endings. So don't know what to think. No really symptoms, boobs are fuller, and headaches.

codemytea · 12/10/2024 11:47

Morning ladies,

Woke up last night with intense middle back pain, ended up having to take some painkillers and propping a pillow beneath me before I could head back to sleep, hoping it's a one off as the only way I could sleep was on my back and I know you're not meant to do that in the later stages.

Thanks to all your advice on the ectopic stuff, I went into my EPU and they felt my abdomen and put in a speculum, they said it all looked fine, but they booked me for a scan just in case on Wednesday, so fingers crossed!

Also, congrats @Gooseygander555! I'm sure baby is fine, I had a few slips as well before it really settled in :D And yes, 6 weeks scans are usually private, unless there's history of miscarriage/ivf etc in which case I believe NHS does them.

@Needcoffee24 fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

Hello ladies, I'm looking for some advice please, has anyone had thrush in pregnancy before?
I'm about 6 weeks and had an early scan at epu on Tuesday for some cramps/spotting the week before. Today I think thrush has started I am not sure?! I thought it could be a pregnancy discharge but now thinking it is thrush... Probably from the internal scan? I went to the pharmacy and they wouldn't sell me anything, said I had to go to the doctors. Does anyone know if this is safe to wait until Monday?
I also have another scan at epu on Tuesday next week. Thanks x

I went to the gp thinking I had thrush before. He reassured me that neither thrush or the treatment would be harmful for the pregnancy. It turned out it was all normal, but it's good to know that there is no need to panic or rush, Monday should be fine to get checked.

katsworld24 · 12/10/2024 15:52

@LillB thank you for the reassurance!x

MummyMammoth · 12/10/2024 18:47

Yea, fine to wait till Monday.

Hi everyone! I'm currently 4w+3d with my third after IVF abroad. My husband and I both have children from our first marriages and this is our first (and likely only) together! My eldest is 16 and youngest 12 so starting all over again!
None of our family know we have even been trying to conceive. My husband had a vasectomy after his second child (we had it reversed in Jan 2023) so this will be a massive shock for them. We plan to tell them at Christmas!
I've now got to get through my 40th next month without drinking or causing any suspicion!

I've an early viability scan on 23/10 and a sneak peak gender blood test and scan on 3/11 (I plan to open the results on my birthday) so on a countdown to then. I'm all booked with the midwife and booking appointment is 6/11.

Oh and I'm also a midwife

MittensForKittens123 · 12/10/2024 20:38

@Needcoffee24 my friend’s mum got pregnant with her twin brothers with an iud in. One of them was born holding it! Fingers crossed it goes as well for you.
