I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

My body is raging with hormones, I'm so emotional and anxious. Is anyone else suffering with this?

Me!! I feel like I’ve completely lost control of all me emotions

Blossomofhope · 28/09/2024 14:04

@holdmydrinks Im pretty anxious all the time. Feels there’s so many little hurdles to get through. Had my second blood test yesterday at 6+2 and my hcg was 72000 which seems high. Just hope everything is ok.
Sofa day for me today. Hows everyone doing?

holdmydrinks · 28/09/2024 14:53

It's like I'm on another planet! I've got my first scan next week so I'll speak to my doctor then. Suspect my iron is low too.

I’m the same. 7 week scan next week eek. So nervous.

rosecbrm · 28/09/2024 18:59

I'm 7+2 according to last scan on weds, feeling super tired, super sore boobs and on and off nausea. Next scan is in 11 days, just praying everything's ok still.

Hope everyone's ok x

LeBonBon · 29/09/2024 18:49

Late to join but also late to find out 🙋‍♀️

Congratulations everyone 🥰

Had a private early reassurance scan today as I had no idea I was pregnant before I started getting full blown symptoms last Saturday - all day sickness, dizziness, tiredness, the lot! I had a mystery bleed at the end of August which I thought was my normal period. It wasn't 🙈

Turns out I'm 8w4d and due 7 May. I've got a 20 month already but this one will be a 🌈 baby after a miscarriage earlier this year.

Hope everyone had a smooth journey and pray for me that the sickness ends soon🙏 I was sick with my first (DD) but no where near as bad as this 🤢

narns · 29/09/2024 19:07

The 7 week scans that people are getting, are these transvaginal or external?

I'm 6+5 today and entitled to a 6 week NHS scan due to previous ectopic but have resisted so far because I don't have any of the ectopic symptoms that I had last time, and I found the placement scan really traumatic last time (when I was pregnant with DD) because it was in the same room, in the same EPU as the ectopic was discovered.

I basically am too traumatised to return there unless I develop symptoms that indicate something sinister! I would like some reassurance so I'm looking nearby but most seem to be external and I'm a bit unsure about an external scan at 7 weeks because if they can't see properly (I have a high BMI) I'll end up leaving more anxious.

narns · 29/09/2024 19:10

Also @Poster57 @TheBeesKnee @GraySweatpants how are you getting on with breastfeeding? My supply has definitely dropped and so I've been trying out a bottle of cows milk at night. She takes the bottle absolutely fine no issues, but she doesn't feed for as long.

I feel like when she used to breastfeed for 20 mins or so it was a great transition from being awake to being sleepy, but now that time is really reduced and she's struggling to get herself off to sleep (I'm going up and giving a cuddle and she'll go off but it's just taking a bit more effort!)

TheBeesKnee · 29/09/2024 20:18

@narns we're plodding along although I hate it when he twiddles the spare nip, makes me want to lob him across the room.

Can't say I've noticed a drop in supply, but he does typically feed at 5am then at bedtime, and I know 4am is when your milk hormones are highest, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I don't really have it in me at the moment to do the weaning battle, he's still very much a boobie boy and I've been so ill with this pregnancy that it's honestly easier to feed him for 10 mins then plop him back into bed than try to settle him by any other means.

Poster57 · 29/09/2024 21:00

@narns still going strong. What’s strange is she’s become super determined to get it. Where as before she was one morning feed and not fussed, never asked for it at any other time and didn’t mind if she missed it etc. it’s now demanded and then asked for several times a day. (I’m still only giving the one feed though) quite odd - I figure something must have changed, it’s making me want to wean though. Supply doesn’t seem low but it did through last pregnancy so guess it must be circumstantial

@TheBeesKnee magnesium spray helps with the aversion. I remember that feeling from being pregnant with #2! It’s honestly horrible feeling like that.

GraySweatpants · 29/09/2024 21:13

@narns It’s not great but we’re holding on because likewise I couldn’t be bothered with weaning as well as the nausea and sickness.

My breasts definitely feel less full and DD seems to get frustrated over it. Maybe that’s why her sleeps have been awful the past week or two - keeps waking up, boobing, rolls over but can’t fall back to sleep and gets annoyed. I am TIRED 😪

Hi everyone 👋
Found out 2 weeks ago that I'm pregnant after 3 years of trying! I'm 38 and this is my first, we were about to give up! I'm 6+1 now, due 25th May 2025.
I've got my booking appointment booked in for a couple of weeks, but other than that have been left to get on with it, I haven't been offered any early scans or anything.
Symptoms have been very mild so far, very tired so I've been having mid afternoon naps, and a little nausea that seems to be kept at bay with a ginger biscuit.
I woke up last night with really intense cramping, like really bad period pain, with severe nausea. It passed after a few minutes and I'm not bleeding, so I'm putting it down to eating too much popcorn yesterday, but have put in a request for a doctor to call back and tell me that's normal!

Congratulations! I'm about 8w3d now and I had cramps since I found out I was pregnant at 4 wks, and when I booked a private early scan everything was fine, I have heard they are quite common unless paired with bleeding...
As for early scans as far as I'm aware your only offered an NHS one if you have had previous ectopic pregnancies or miscarriages, or you experience bleeding. However there are places you can book a reassurance scan privately, from 6 weeks usually, they aren't as accurate as NHS ones, but I had one a few days ago and I was able to see that everything was where it should be, that there was just one and saw a heartbeat... So it's nice for reassurance!
Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy🤗

Hey,
I am 6 + 5 and I have woken up this morning with no symptoms. My breasts have stopped hurting, I don't feel any cramps or nausea.
Can this be normal? I've not had any spotting/bleeding

It definitely can be normal, my symptoms really came and went in my last pregnancy, some days I felt ok, some days really not. It's so hard not to overthink everything in early pregnancy, but try to just enjoy the good day!

Thanks, it's so hard not to worry.
You get a symptom and wonder if it's normal, you lose a symptom and wonder if it's normal.
It's a pretty anxious time!

MrsKurz · 30/09/2024 10:08

@Beccaa123 it really is. I'm currently waiting for a call back from my doctor as I've had some mild spotting since Saturday. I'm sure it's normal, but you just worry about everything don't you. They're booked up but going to see if they can fit me in inbetween appointments

@narns re your message in scans at 7 weeks, my scan last week at 7 weeks at the hospital (measuring 6w6d) was abdominal, although I went in prepared for transvaginal as in my previous MCs they've always been internal.

The sonographer did say to me that they look on abdominal first and if things aren't clear then she would do the internal scan, but lucky for me it wasn't needed.

Hope that helps x

I had a private scan last Friday, measuring at 6+5. I have high BMI but she did abdominal and saw everything we needed to, including a little heartbeat.

I went with a very full bladder, not sure if that helped. I carry most of my weight on my stomach so I wasn't expecting much but was very surprised. Although private, she has been an NHS sonographer for over 20 years so I was made to feel confident that she had the experience to look for what she needed to.

MrsKurz · 01/10/2024 12:47

Just had a call back after I chased today, they are leaving the appointment same until next week, but sending me a prescription for something to take until my appointment, I'm not sure what it is, missed it on the phone. Email also hasn't come through yet. Will update when I know what it is! So far no more spotting today, so it seems to come and go

rosecbrm · 01/10/2024 15:02

@MrsKurz that's a positive at least i guess! Glad your spotting has stopped today

MrsKurz · 01/10/2024 17:18

It’s progesterone! Going to pick it up this evening. I guess it’s precautionary, but won’t do any harm 🤷‍♀️

Zeeha · 01/10/2024 20:04

@MrsKurz don't be alarmed if you spot more on progesterone pessaries. It's known they can aggrievate your cervix and cause spotting or sometimes bleeding. I have to take the utrogestan pessaries three times a day and a lubion (progesterone) injection daily following IVF. I've frequently had bleeding which the only explanation the doctors can find is the pessaries, which is so frustrating when I need them. They've examined me and can see the origin is my cervix (which thankfully is closed) and every scan is normal. If it is pessaries you'll have, try to not use the applicator and be very gentle inserting them. They don't have to go too deep to absorb, just try to lay down for 20 mins afterwards! Also be warned, they're unpleasantly messy, so you may want to use pads. All the best for your pregnancy 😊

Thanks, yes that’s what I’ve got, just one per day. I haven’t had any spotting today which I think is a good thing! Thanks for the heads up about the cervix irritation. They said to call back if it gets any worse, so I’ll definitely keep an eye. Overall I’m feeling positive though.
