Saw we hit page 40, so figured I'd get a head start on the next thread just in case!!

Oh gosh, I just thought, there may not be very many more of these threads - I wonder if this one may even be the last?!

HUGE congrats to @MudandMoet on their gorgeous wee one!!
Best of luck on your way home this afternoon/this evening, I'm desperate to ask all about what it was like but I'll avoid that as I don't want anyone to get nervous/anxious about what's to come!!

Super glad you're feeling mostly okay and so so SO happy for you! <3

@PoppingUp so true! And can just get away with it. Without warning I let out the biggest belch in a shop this week, everyone looked 😂 I just stroked my belly and carried out browsing.

@mrsbgb not long to go!! I find on my side I get limbs jabbing into the bed. So uncomfortable and annoying, how dare she 😂

Khanga27 · 26/08/2024 08:29

Checking in - 39+4 today. I’ve had tightening for past week and a half irregularly, and last Sunday also had what felt like period cramps. Rang PAU who suggested early stages of labour and I took paracetamol that night to get sleep, but next day had gone. Midwife appointment suggested more Braxton hicks. I’m really hoping things start properly and can avoid induction, have sweep booked in this week.

@MudandMoet gorgeous picture ❤️

Emmaev · 26/08/2024 11:58

@Khanga27 im 39 weeks today and have much the same. It almost feels like my period is about to start and a lot of tightening of my belly with no pain. Also hoping to avoid induction but I’m unsure whether or not to say yes to a sweep on Wednesday I have been against it as I’m not massively set on the success rates if your body isn’t ready. So I may wait until I’m overdue.

My sister has been so set on me having her on Wednesday but I’m thinking I’ll be closer to 41 weeks when we have her. I’m gonna guess I’ll be 40+6

TripleESept24 · 26/08/2024 12:08

@MudandMoet she's so cute 🥺🫶 I Can't wait for more babies in our group to be born

Is anyone else having a sweep at 39 weeks and am induction booked for 41? I see lots of people saying they'd rather things just started naturally! But I just want this baby out asap! 🙈 I have a feeling she's gonna be on time anyway

Khanga27 · 26/08/2024 12:36

@Emmaev yes I was originally skeptical about a sweep based on the stats as well, but if it gives me a slight chance to avoid induction then I’m willing to try. My SIL had one and went into labour the next day, though whether that would have happened anyway who knows. In the meantime I’m just going to keep with walks, birthing ball and collecting colostrum in hope they trigger something

Bakerbean · 26/08/2024 12:48

Hello all, hope you’re all really well. I found it impossible to keep up with the chat alongside work, health issues & general pregnancy/baby prep stress, but I wanted to pop back on to introduce our beautiful little girl, Indie Halia Hazel, who was born after induction at 37+4 (thanks to gestational diabetes) on 17th August, weighing 8lbs exactly.

Labour was a wild experience and I ended up giving birth with only 2 paracetamol for pain relief 🥴. But she’s here and she is absolutely perfect. We ended up back in hospital with jaundice for 36 hours, but we are all now doing really well. Wishing you all the very best xx

Do you mind me asking how long your induction was from start to finish, I have mine scheduled for 38+3 and I'm 2 minds if to accept or push for a section

Checking in!

@Lillers thank you so much for the reassuring information about GD at the end of the last thread. I’ve been trying to eat better these last few days - chicken and avocado sandwich at the service station whilst DH had KFC! - although we’ve been at a wedding which involved a lot of sweet food and carbs. Hopefully I won’t have it, but if I do then there’s only 3 weeks left to go so I am resigned to them either saying manage with diet for that short time, straight to insulin or even early delivery. I already have a c-section booked so I’m not worried about him being a big baby for me (although it’s hard to not feel guilty when eating this week!).

@malimoon great to hear you’ve had similar measurements and it hasn’t been GD. I’ve given a lot of urine samples these past few weeks and nothing has been detected in them and fluid levels are all very normal and not even close to the thresholds, so hopefully he’s just a big baby and the scan wasn’t totally accurate.

I have been experiencing a very dry mouth though and some nausea after eating sugary foods, plus raised BP, so going into the test with an expectation that I do possibly have it!

Welcome to the world all the babies who have been born already! 2 of my NCT group have also delivered their September babies early - it’s all getting very real and close!

I’m still only 35 weeks but did have some tightenings and period cramps yesterday. They’ve gone away completely now. Hopefully not a sign of imminent labour for me! I really hope he holds on until at least 1 September and ideally much closer to my due date so all my calculations for mat leave finances don’t get thrown off haha. I also haven’t washed any clothes yet as the chest of drawers hasn’t arrived and might be another week away.

Congratulations @Bakerbean Indie is beautiful 🥰 hope you’re both doing well

Bakerbean · 26/08/2024 13:41

@rupertbear91

Went in to hospital 11am Friday 16th. Pessary put in at 1pm, contractions started around 3pm. Contractions ramped up very quickly for me & by late evening they were incredibly intense. I reacted very sensitively to the pessary. 4am I had an examination and was 2cm, so they decided to take the pessary out and let me try and get some rest. Contractions calmed right down & was barely having any. 11am on the Saturday they told me they would get me over to the labour ward to have my waters broken. 3pm Saturday had waters broken, was given 2 hours to walk around to try and get labour started properly again, nothing happened, so at 5.30pm I was put on the drip.

7pm contractions started properly again, and between then and her being born is a complete blur. By 9.30pm I was 10cm and ready to push. She was born at 11.49pm.

It was a rollercoaster, and the drip did make things very intense, but I’m glad it wasn’t a super long active labour. Induction definitely has its pro’s & cons, but it was a positive story for me ❤️ Wishing you all the best. If you’d like to know anything more specific just ask x

PinkWatermelon88 · 26/08/2024 14:22
