We had a 12+6 scan and screening this week, now just waiting for the results!

Anticipationstation · 20/08/2024 19:38

Hope you’re all as well as can be! Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling poorly @ploo. I had a private scan at the weekend which looked OK, other than a subchorionic haematoma, which I’m trying not to think about. It put EDD as the last week of March. So that’s something to hang on to when I’m randomly throwing up in drains as I walk down the street... I swear people must have thought I was hungover at the park with my kids today, which is not cool. 🙈

How is everyone feeling? I’m 8w+4 and I’m worrying a lot. We’ve got a private scan on Friday 9 weeks & I just have this bad feeling, like it’s not going to be good. I’ve still got nausea & have been sick a few times, sore nipples and tired but you can still have all that and miscarry I’ve read. Anyone got any advice on how to stop catastrophising & relax? My husbands starting to get frustrated with me too. My pregnancy discharge has stopped over the last 2 days, that’s worrying me. I wish I could relax and not look too deep into every twinge!

Hey @ffiggyandpig so sorry to hear you're feeling this way. May i ask what has brought on these sudden feelings. When I feel negative or worried about something I tend to find the positive spin on it. In your scenario I'd be spinning it to something along the lines of. I'm still pregnant, I deserve this and so does my baby and I'd be talking to the baby apologising for feeling a certain way, promise to keep them safe and put my hands where the baby is and connect.

I haven't really paid too much attention to the discharge due to my constant spotting from the hematoma, but I'm aware the consistency and colour changes daily. I've had days when my boob's start itty bitty and by evening they're sore and inflated.

Instead of focusing on miscarrying could you try focusing on this beautiful baby your amazing body has created and is carrying safely. I fully understand the nerves. I've got a 4 week gap between the last scan I had at EPU until the 12 week one and I'm constantly having to remind myself I'm not just walking symptoms, I am carrying precious cargo xx big hugs to you xx

Hi Everyone, hope you are all feeling 'ok', I know this is a rough stage for a lot of us (me included). I'm struggling with food aversions......really fancy something, make it, then manage a couple of bites before the nausea hits again.

Also very anxious this time round. Early scan tomorrow at what should be 8+2 and I'm half excited/ half dreading it incase there is bad news

@sel2223 wishing you all the best for the scan today will be waiting to hear about the progress xx

I'm feeling OK too.. its a tough week

Thank you so much, I’m going to try all of this today. I think I’m just waiting for the worst to happen. I’ve got so many people around me having babies or being pregnant, I’ve been trying for this baby for almost 5 years and it’s here now and I’m terrified to have it taken away.
my boobs are like that, bit sore in the mornings and more so in the evenings. I’m going to say all those positive things to myself today, that’s such a good idea. I’ve got a scan Friday, the days leading up to scans I always feel really worried about hearing those awful words. But you’re right, I’m pregnant and my baby is safe. Thank you lovely xx

@Anticipationstation thats so hard when you’re vomiting all the time.
I thought I’d missed all the sickness but feel more nauseous second trimester than first!

BabyH2025 · 21/08/2024 10:43

Hello :) I recently had a positive test and I’m now 5w+5 and very excited as it’s my first ever pregnancy. Came off the pill 3rd June after being on it for many years and got married on 22nd July. Everything has happened so quickly, didn’t think I would catch so quick after being on the pill for over 16 years but here I am, full of nerves and excitement :) massive learning curve as my GP surgery told me they don’t do preg tests or anything anymore and have to self refer to local maternity services which I’ve done and now have my first midwife appointment booked at 9 weeks, can’t wait!

sel2223 · 21/08/2024 11:15

Scan today and baby is measuring 8+2, due date 31st March but I'm having a planned section so will be before that.
Heartrate 172bpm.
All in all feeling happy and relieved today.

(I know the anxiety will start again before the next scan so enjoying the brief respite)

Great news, glad it went well ❤️ I too will be having a planned section, I’ve been told the planned ones are lovely and calm.

Thank you

My first was a planned section too and it was exactly that, lovely and calm. A very positive experience from start to finish

My first wasn’t too bad really. I’d been in labour for nearly 3 days and decided I’d had enough 😂 so was actually quite nice to be in control. I’ve been told you can choose your own music during the section? Will you wait until 40 weeks or book in sooner?

I can't remember if I chose music or not to be honest. It didn't feel like I was in there long at all.

I'll be max 38 weeks when I have mine

@figgyandpig wat makes you worried so much? Have you experienced loss? Just try to enjoy pregnancy, stress may contribute to negative outcomes

Yeah I had a mmc last year and going to the scan and having bad news was really horrible. I know it’s normal for me to feel this way following loss. I just have to trust everything is ok & my body is doing what it has to. I’m reminding myself today positive things and feeling a little more calmer.

@figgyandpig I'm also worried, but more that if it all goes to plan my life will change upside down for ever... and the bloody school runs...sick days you have to take at work when your child is sick and when you fall sick you just have to turn up to work as a result. Sleepless nights and my career having a long term pause! No one seems to have these worries on the chat ;/

@ploo I feel pretty rough too. 11 weeks now. I've stopped taking all any sickness as fed up of feeling extra sleepy. Now I'm just pregnancy sleepy lol. Praying this all passes soon. Feel like a shell of myself but upside is 4 days no throwing up. You'll pull through!!

@SunshineMummy2 oh my god the tiredness!! I don't remember this with my first. Feel soooo exhausted. Glad the sickness has calmed down for you and hope it stays that way for you x

@ploo the last few days have been rough. I feel like everything is happening at the same time I don't know what to deal with first. I'm tired, hungry, thirsty and need to pee all at the same time ! I'm a bit opposite to you with sickness recently. I'm OK in the morning and then evenings I've started vomiting

Naps are the time it's the easiest

@Rosequartzz aww no hope the vomiting stops for you soon. I haven't had any vomiting thankfully just feel sickly sometimes but most days can't stop eating. Just feeling generally like crap like I'm coming down with something but nothing ever comes

@sel2223 @BabyUxX so pleased to hear about your scans 🥰 amazing news 💕

@BabyH2025 welcome and congratulations! When is your expected due date? I too was on the pill for around 16 years before coming off it to conceive my first. Conceived in the 2nd month trying. Went back on the pill after having DS and conceived 3rd cycle this time round

@Zaliuuu I have these worries. Mainly about my career and the sick days etc and taking the gap out
I'm also worried about telling my colleagues (my manager already knows but is not telling anyone yet). Mainly worried about telling 1 colleague in particular as she is struggling to conceive 😥 I don't even know how to begin to tell her

@ploo thank you x I have an idea!
Depending on your relationship with coovorker you could tailor it accordingly (once she knows and had the time to digest)

So my friend is very spiritual young lady... at her baby shower which was also meditation inspired I have asked her to give me her blessing and we had a little moment together . Coincidently 2 weeks later I had a positive pregnancy test :) I know this is silly but that's what happened
