Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

Maaaaan I'm done. I'm 36 weeks but wishing I was 38/39 😂

Lool 36 weeks too, my back when i do normal everyday cleaning, I'm constantly feeling sleep deprived no matter how long i rest, (it's giving first trimester) and the swelling, the acne, the awkward kicks.. I don't even know who this is anymore😂 so ready to meet this baby!

Sarah268 · 24/12/2024 07:04

36 weeks and also DONE with being pregnant! Literally keep dreaming about going into labour 🤣 I just want my body back.

however on the flip side I know it’s only a few weeks (let’s not even talk about going overdue…)

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 24/12/2024 08:01

Me too @Firsttimetrier any time 27th onwards! I started to get either Braxton hicks or side effects from the upset tummy s couple of days ago and slightly worried this meant my time was near. Got a c section date for 10th Jan which I'd exciting though :)

@Sarah268 I remember how light I felt after they were born last time and I'm so excited for that again! I walked 5000 steps yesterday and it nearly broke my hips :(

BeLemonQuoter · 24/12/2024 09:20

I am 37 week today, and doing rather all right, I am sorry. I was hoping for early delivery, like my mum did with me, but my consultant said it is unlikely at my age(42yo). Anyway, I have an induction booked in for the night of 7th January, so that's something to look for.

I feel completely unprepared, though. Baby's bag is half ready, mine is nowhere near ready. I don't even have a nightie to pack, and the maternity towel I wanted to buy is out of stock (boots cotton one). Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap cotton maternity towels? :D

Uguberry · 25/12/2024 17:57

Hope everyone who celebrates is having a nice Christmas and isn't interrupted by anyone making an early appearance!

@BeLemonQuoter I'm 1 day behind you, my hospital bag has been mostly ready for a while but I need to fill any remaining spaces with snacks and juice! At home however, baby things (yes including the essentials) are another story... Still plenty of time, right? 🙃

Hi all,

I’ve just received a phone call from my midwife saying that I should be induced next week. I’m 37+1 weeks pregnant and I have gestational diabetes (GD). I’m feeling a little overwhelmed and unsure about what’s the right thing to do.

A few days ago, I had a growth scan, and the midwife mentioned that the baby is a normal size and everything looks good. However, the midwife who called today seems to think induction is necessary, not just because of size, but due to other risk factors.

I’ve been struggling to control my diet, and I’m not on medication for GD. The midwife did mention concerns, but I couldn’t help but feel like she was sort of fear-mongering, which makes it harder to make a decision.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice? I just don’t know what’s best right now.

This should help present your situation clearly to others, allowing for easier discussion and advice. Let me know if you want to tweak anything!

BeLemonQuoter · 30/12/2024 14:06

@Mama2b99 I am going to be induced next week too at 39+0 based on maternal age.

I am really looking forward to it, and I like the predictability of it. I hope it will turn out to be all right, I have read/heard good induction experiences and bad ones too, just like for any other labour options, so I kind of gave up making the "right" choice.

My plan is that I will start with induction, then see what happens, might end up having a caeserian if that will be necessary.

The most important thing is to avoid major complications for baby and me.

I have GD and all my growth scans look good, baby measuring on track and I’m diet controlled.

I’m 39+2 and refused the induction or section at 38 weeks and agreed with my consultant to be induced at 40 weeks. I’m actually booked in for Thursday, so I’ll be 39+5, but thought I wouldn’t need it as my first came at 38 weeks, but here we are.

I would use the BRAIN system and ask them the benefits, risks, alternatives etc, as there’s no reason why 37 weeks should be the induction point, when other guidelines will state 40+5 with controlled GD should be okay.

Firsttimetrier · 30/12/2024 21:56

@Mama2b99 also to say, I had GD in my first pregnancy too and got induced at 38 weeks and that ended up in an emergency section due to my DS position and showed he wasn’t quite ready to enter the world. This is partly why I’ve asked for an induction later on because if baby isn’t ready, most inductions end in sections.

How's everyone getting along?
Feels crazy we're all officially in our baby birth months!

Hows everyone feeling, has anyone had their babies yet or having them soon?

BeLemonQuoter · 02/01/2025 12:35

@Mama2b99 I have some occasional Braxton Hicks, I think, but no sign of spontaneous labour, just the approaching induction. Only 5 days now! I can't wait, although we had to undo all the nesting and cleaning wedone, because of a leak at New years eve, so we are back to not prepared yet again...

Thats so soon! It must be exciting to finally meet baby.. im due 19/01 but i have GD so they recommended induction .. not 100% sure what will happen yet because my sugars have been great this week and baby size is normal!

BeLemonQuoter · 02/01/2025 12:38

Plus I had mysterious high Carbon Monoxide reading yesterday at my last antenatal appointment, so we have to get the boiler checked out. Although my husband had a normal reading at the same time and we spent the last few days together

Firsttimetrier · 02/01/2025 12:59

@Mama2b99 I’m booked in for an induction at 2pm! Been pushed back twice already today, so hopefully it goes ahead at 2.

It will be a long process as I’m having the dilapan rods, so they will be in for 12-24 hours then my waters will be broken. Feel like my body is nearly ready for birth at 39+5, so hoping it goes well.

Very surreal knowing we’re off to have a baby in an hour 🫠

Thats insane.. the dilapan rods sounds crazy is there a specific reason they resort to them? It's such a bittersweet feeling I'm sure wanting to meet your baby but also dealing with the whole process of getting them out! Why are you being induced? Apologies if I've already asked i have a really bad memory!

BigDeanWinchesterFan · 02/01/2025 15:42

Good luck @Firsttimetrier! Exciting! But terrifying and so exciting to nearly not being pregnant anymore

I've got a date for my c section, 10th Jan :)

BeLemonQuoter · 02/01/2025 17:02

Good luck @Firsttimetrier ! I hope everything will go smoothly for you!

As a continuation of the high CO reading saga, I called the gas safety people. Who very quickly came around to check for CO, even at the neighbours ( everything was fine). So I was very pleased with that. Then we were told that the gas is going to be shut down anyway because of my high CO reading , until the boiler is going to be checked.

Beauty is that the boiler is likely to be fine, and I just got a random high CO reading yesterday

At least we got a small electric heater and a free boiler check...

ChirpyTurtle · 02/01/2025 17:31

Good luck @Firsttimetrier! Hopefully all goes as smoothly as it can for you and baby!

Looking forward to hearing everyone’s baby news this month, I can’t believe it’s January already!

Firsttimetrier · 02/01/2025 17:34

@Mama2b99 the insertion of the rods wasn’t that bad at all, but because my cervix is looking good (the consultants words). It felt like a smear test tbh and didn’t need any pain relief to do it.

I’ve got gestational diabetes, so pushed and fought to not have any intervention until my due date, but agreed to come in a few days before to start the process.

24 hours at home now then we go back tomorrow to remove them and break my waters if nothing happens overnight.

Getting lots of pressure and mild contractions here and there, so hoping it does something but as it’s non-hormonal, it’s not guaranteed.

I hope all goes well for you x i have GD too and they've recommended induction although my blood sugars are in range and baby size is normal.. i agree with the whole trying to push for no intervention as well but you just never know.. what would you say was the deciding factor for you to go ahead with the induction?

Same with me, with blood sugars and baby on scans etc.

I had an emergency section with my first and really wanted a VBAC, so agreed the non-hormonal induction route with the consultant on my due date as it would give my body a chance to naturally progress and react well to the induction.
Although NICE guidelines are section or induction by 40+5, I personally didn’t feel entirely comfortable waiting that long.

It’s really hard to know what to do!

@Firsttimetrier Wishing you all the best for a safe and smooth delivery. Can't wait for the update when baby is in your arms 🤗

Firsttimetrier · 03/01/2025 07:47

Thank you @Uguberry

Had 2 hours of contractions last night that were between 3-5mins apart but I felt exhausted at one point and had to lie down and fell asleep.

Everything stopped but think my bloody show has just happened, so got to ring back into hospital in an hour as contractions haven’t started again.

Have to be back in at 2pm anyway for them to pop my waters, so maybe that’ll happen sooner.

Uguberry · 03/01/2025 08:05

@Firsttimetrier This is all new to me so I'm surprised you didn't go back when your contractions were that close together because I thought that's about the time to head to hospital! Or did they tell you not to until 24 hours had passed?
