Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

Mine is also head down but I was told it doesn’t matter just yet as they can still move easily. That’s what your 36 week scan is for, if not head down by then then you can start to work on it or they can try to turn them etc.

Sarah268 · 26/11/2024 17:47

How is everyone getting on? Nearly at the point where we can say we are having a baby NEXT MONTH 🫣

FloTho · 26/11/2024 17:47

Hi MrsNT
I’m 32 weeks today, my baby’s head was down from week 24 until just a few days ago when he decided to turn completely the other way up (felt really weird!). Midwife said they don’t worry about babies being head down until week 36 though.

MrsNT · 26/11/2024 18:04

Firsttimetrier · 26/11/2024 14:58

With my first, he didn’t go head down until 35 weeks and then wasn’t engaged until 37 weeks.

How many weeks are you? They only worry if they aren’t head down at 36 weeks.

Also, try spinning babies website as they have exercises to get baby head down.

Im 31 weeks atm

Anyone else really struggling with kicks directly at the bladder and feeling like uou are going to wet yourself? I had this all day for 2 days last week then it eased and it seems really bad this week, it's constantly uncomfortable and I'm scared to leave home. I have to suddenly clench and am so close to an embarrassing accident

ChirpyTurtle · 26/11/2024 21:41

@TwlightMoon I’ve been getting it on and off but not as bad as you. A couple of times I was feeling glad I am working from home though!

You still have 4 weeks until they start to worry, so don’t panic yet!

Lol that's me.

How organised is everyone in terms of clothes/cot/car seat etc? I’ve not got anything yet. I’m 31 weeks. I feel a bit funny about buying things before the baby has arrived, but realise I could give birth early etc. So wondering what everyone else is doing?

First time around, we were all set at around 32 weeks and had everything. This time, we’re not organised at all and I’m nearly 35 weeks!

We’ve not fully packed any hospital bags, not washed any baby clothing, getting some newborn nappies delivered today, not got a second car seat but we can use our toddlers as it goes from newborn-4 years.

I’m not going to worry and panic until we reach 36 weeks and if there are things we need, things come next day/we live 10min drive from Westfields, so won’t be the end of the world.

Definitely the second child 😂

Sometimes, but it doesn't happen to often as babygirl prefers pressing her head on it, or somewhere arohnd there, so it makes peeing difficult.

I am a first time mum and I started to look for things after the anomaly scan (a few small bits a bit before because ), and by now only some small things left. I didn't want to leave it for later, because I try to get most things second hand(I find it is such a waste to buy some products for only using them a few months) and that takes more time and I need ed to grab the opportunity when it pops up. (There are some products I still needed to buy new, like mattress, etc...)

I am glad I did so, as I am getting lazier to bother with organising collections, but I know what you mean when you say you feel funny by buying things early. I had that feeling too, just the urge to get things were stronger 😀

ChirpyTurtle · 27/11/2024 18:25

I’ve got a few things in an online shopping basket but keep putting off clicking “buy”! Unfortunately nothing I liked the look of seems to be on sale, typical! And I’ve not been organised enough to get stuff second hand. I know what you mean @BeLemonQuoter about the balance of being organised vs not wanting to buy stuff too early. It’s my first too and so starting from scratch apart from some bits I’ve got off friends.

You're right @Firsttimetrier I suppose all the shops will still be open after they are born 😂

Nearly 35 weeks and at my last appointment midwife thinks baby might be breech. I have to get a scan during the week so they can confirm baby's position. It is kinda making me feel scared now as everything was pretty smooth sailing up to now.

Have you looked into the spinning babies method? I’ve had a few friends who found it helpful and baby went head down. Worth trying!

Yes I've been trying different positions. Have to say the inversion position is tricky 😁but giving it all a go!

MrsNT · 01/12/2024 22:08

Anyone getting pain under ribs? I had it with my first one so didn't think it would be as bad again

BeLemonQuoter · 01/12/2024 23:42

No, just discomfort from the growing belly. Isn’t that a possible le sign of preeclampsia?

Sarah268 · 02/12/2024 14:07

@MrsNT yes! very uncomfy around the ribs for me

Mama2b99 · 03/12/2024 10:47

Doesn't sound like the usual GD symptoms- have you been diagnosed?

I also have back pain these days, especially if I am on my feet for a long time. Sitting on my pregnancy ball really helps, would definitely recommend these!

I was diagnosed at 29 weeks and I'm currently 33 weeks.. i called the maternity line and totally forgot to mention that ..

Could be related then I guess? Hopefully you are feeling a bit better.

I just had my appointment with the consultant and it looks like I may be having a planned section for week 37-38, which falls exactly between 25 December - 7 January. I was feeling prepared for early January but not sure I feel ready for a 2024 baby!

May I ask why it was scheduled for early delivery? I am having regular scans and they mentioned, earlier in the oregnancy that I might be scheduled for early delivery too, but the consultant didn't say anything last time (and I forgot to ask...)

Long story short, I have a large fibroid sitting at the top of my cervix, basically blocking the baby's exit, and the baby is lying transversal. This also increases the risks of preterm delivery so they want to schedule me in before I go into labour. Because this makes it a complex caesarean section, they also want to schedule it with an obstetrician who specialises in sections with fibroids, so planning it earlier increases the chance I get that doctor rather than whoever happens to be on duty if I go into labour (although the doctor did say to me that if it does end up being someone else that they are all sufficiently trained to do this type of surgery, and that they would follow the surgery plan made by the specialist).

Not sure if that helps? I think my situation is probably not that common! Do you remember in what context they mentioned scheduling it early?

Anyone else expecting to have a December delivery?
