@Toriiaa Ha ha, I'm making the most of it. If this works out, we'll be one and done, so this might be my only chance.

@superj21@superj21 I got an appointment with the GP who prescribed cyclizine for 10 days. Yesterday I took the first pill and before am hour had past I was about to being very sick. So not a great start. He also recommended to have 2 weeks of reduced hours and even my boss (she's lovely and very empathetic) insisted in it, but I feel bad for my colleagues. Anyway, today I felt much better, specially after lunch. In general I still feel sick but nos as bad as yesterday morning. Thanks for the encouragement!!!

QuantumPanic · 17/07/2024 20:57

@Toriiaa Yes, very provisionally due 2nd Feb! Thanks for the reassurance re lack of symptoms @Toriiaa @retrievermum.

superj21 · 17/07/2024 21:02

@Piluka sorry to hear you were still feeling sick after the first pill but hopefully it'll start working properly soon and you'll feel a bit better! Also great that you're able to reduce your hours a bit for now and hopefully you're able to rest a bit 😊

QuantumPanic · 17/07/2024 21:04

@Bb542 I'm so sorry to hear this. Conception and pregnancy feels like such an awful, horribly unfair lottery. Will you be having another scan soon? Was anyone able to tell you anything one way or the other, or is it very much a case of waiting and seeing?

elb1504 · 17/07/2024 21:23

@UrbanSquirrel Yes 12 week scan is Monday eekk!

I'm also currently due on 2nd Feb seems like there are a couple of us!

@Toriiaa I'm so glad I kept my maternity clothes too, don't quite need them just yet but did spot them all in the loft and I kept loads which I'm happy about! Although nearly 5 years has passed so they probably won't be fashionable!

LilacSnail · 17/07/2024 22:44

@Bb542 sorry to hear this, it sounds very confusing and like you are going to be waiting a little longer to know what’s going on. Have they given you a date for a follow up? X

herewegoagain123456 · 18/07/2024 06:30

I'm in the same boat about symptoms I'm about 8 weeks and all of a sudden the sickness has gone. So worried as had a couple of missed miscarriages so feel it's happening again.
Not sure whether to ring up and ask for a scan as my next scan isn't until a week Monday and not sure I can't wait that long to find out what's happening

Just ring them. The anxiety and mental pressure you'll put yourself under will affect you for the next 10 days and that is certainly not healthy.
Let us know how you get on x

Mine were just dresses and trackies and a few pairs of leggings/cycle shorts

It's mad to think I was pregnant this time last year 😂 but I was 6 months pregnant not 11 weeks.

Kt1704 · 18/07/2024 10:21

Hi ladies. I’m 9 weeks this weekend and I have already called sick to work 3 times since I found out I was pregnant. I work 40 hours as a retail manager and I’m struggling with the nausea and tiredness on my feet all day talking to customers constantly as we’re very fast paced. 😢 I can work as late as 9.30pm depending on my shift pattern. I can’t exactly change my shift patterns as I need to close the store, we only have 4 managers who can, now it is summer we have one manager on holiday each week so again I need to be there to cover. I feel so guilty to call sick as already this year I was one week sick in January for miscarriage and one week sick in Feb for a surgery to remove one ovary. I know they can’t look at pregnancy sickness the same as usual but I just feel so guilty and I know they are not happy because we are short staffed anyway 😢 they know I’m pregnant.. I am on medication for the nausea which does take a lot of the edge off but at the same time they make me feel so tired drained and sluggish.

TTCagain85 · 18/07/2024 11:11

Hey, had my 10 week scan on Monday and it is so surreal seeing an actual baby! Had scans at 6&7weeks and it was just a little blob...the difference a few weeks makes! Have my 12 week scan on 29th July.

Is anyone using the Facebook group still? Doesn't seem very active.

UrbanSquirrel · 18/07/2024 11:47

Hi @TTCagain85, so pleased that you had a successful 10-week scan! I know, isn't the difference amazing?! And having seen that everything is going well at 10 weeks must have been a huge comfort to you.

As for the Facebook group, I think for now the chat works best here - I guess, going forward, the Facebook group might work better to collate questions / advice on products / clothes / techniques as we get further towards the end (God willing). I haven't been a member of a group like this before, but I know a few other people have, so perhaps you can share what you found it most useful for? ☺️

@UrbanSquirrel
I'm in an October mums group, once we got to about a month before the babies were born we set up a WhatsApp (from the Facebook group as it was private)

It's been incredible for us all, and some of the mums (including me) have met up when they're living nearby.

It's very helpful with mums who have already got kids and give a bit of advice.

LilacSnail · 18/07/2024 13:40

I was in a Facebook group for DC1 and I think the chat was more on here initially then transferred pretty fully into the Facebook group. Probably as we each start to feel (hopefully) more reassured by dating scans we may gravitate more towards the Facebook group. It’s much easier to chat about specific topics on a Facebook post than here xx

Toriiaa · 18/07/2024 13:53

@Kt1704
You're pregnant, they are your workplace, sorry but there's nothing anyone can do.
You can't go in to work, therefore you're doing the right thing by calling in sick.

They also know you're pretty much untouchable once you've told them you're pregnant.

Please don't get worked up or feel guilty, babe you're literally growing a human.
It does get better I promise

Toriiaa · 18/07/2024 13:54

@LilacSnail agreed.

As I'm a bit late to the party can I have the fb link?

QuantumPanic · 18/07/2024 14:20

@Kt1704 There's no reason to feel guilty - you are entitled to that time off and shouldn't be pressured into working if you are not able to! I assume you feel sympathetic, rather than angry when your colleagues take a sick day - presumably they feel the same about your sick days.

Hope you feel better soon. 🧡

UrbanSquirrel · 18/07/2024 14:25

@Toriiaa Sure! It's here ☺️ x

Agree with the Facebook group it does tend to liven up when people get a bit more reassured and pregnancy continues. People asking questions and we'd have like weekly check ins etc...

@Kt1704 Hey x

Don't feel bad at all, it's not your fault (or problem) that people are on holiday etc, if you are ill then you are ill!

You are growing a baby and absolutely shouldn't feel pressured into working if you are not able to.

Your post stood out to me as I'm also down to one ovary and made it to the 9 week stage this week which has been rough!

I hope you feel better soon :)

UrbanSquirrel · 18/07/2024 21:17

@Lidlisthebusiness Just wanted to check in to ask how your mum is doing? And how are you doing? x

OP posts:
Lidlisthebusiness · 18/07/2024 22:05

That's really thoughtful @UrbanSquirrel, thank you. She's been moved out of ICU and is now on a neuro ward. She's made amazing progress considering the severity of the stroke, but still has a very long way to go and we're being told at every positive step forward, to still be aware of all the things the could go wrong. It's such a rollercoaster, and I'm exhausted. My Dad has dementia, and Mum did everything for him, so I've had to take all that on too, and we've been at the hospital every day bar 2 so far.

I have my booking appointment with the local midwife tomorrow, and hope to get my scan date through in the next couple of weeks.

Toriiaa · 18/07/2024 23:02

@Lidlisthebusiness I'm sorry for what you're going through.
I've completely missed all previous conversations. You're a good egg and you have got this, your mums going to be so proud that you're picking up the reins with dad and having 5 kiddies how do you even get time to sleep?
You're a blooming superwoman

UrbanSquirrel · 19/07/2024 05:35

@Lidlisthebusiness I'm really pleased to hear she's out of ICU - but gosh, yes, there'll be a long way to go. She is so, so lucky to have you there for her; as is your dad. 🤗 As @Toriiaa says, it's absolutely tremendous what you're doing, especially with your kids to think about as well. You're an absolute star. Sending hugs and good vibes - and hope her progress continues xxx
