I will be 33 weeks tomorrow and I can definitely tell where bum is 😂 she really pushes it out sometimes. I find the easiest way to figure out if it head or bum is, is there something coming off both sides of it or just one? If both it’s the bum, if just one side the head. But little one is head down now, so I mainly feel bum and a leg 🦵

Name wise we have picked and everybody knows the name already! I found it helpful to refer to her by it to help build a bond.

ceruleansky · 07/06/2024 08:39

@Cherubs4
I wonder if it has anything to do with skin thickness.. my belly is kinda small and the skin seems kinda taut or thick..? I don't exercise or anything but I have seen some bellies where the skin is thinner and maybe the baby is easier to see then!
or I'm totally wrong and it's because I'm only 32 weeks and things will be more apparent later on. Either way, very interesting..!! I'd love to be able to see the feet. 🤣

@Sophie3003
Experienced midwife! It's probably good to ask just so you're prepared as the weeks go by..
I cannot judge the position by kicks because I feel kicks and punches so really I don't know which way its facing..

Sophie3003 · 07/06/2024 08:41

@ceruleansky if they have told you baby is head down as well it does help as to where everything is! I had something pointy sticking out just above my belly button and I kept pushing it- turns out it is a leg!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 07/06/2024 09:02

@ceruleansky - also having fairly frequent growth scans here so it makes it easier to know which end is which as I’ll have seen. Kicks don’t help at all - not only with kicks and punches but sometimes on the scan he has hands and feet both down round his face and other times his feet will be up with his bum jabbing me in the ribs. I’m only a little bit further along than you at 33 weeks though so maybe it will be more obvious in a few weeks time!

AnonymousXXIX · 07/06/2024 09:59

Sorry no WhatsApp from me @appleandcheese. As username implies I like being anonymous 🤣🤣🤣 Don't all leave the thread though pls I don't have an NCT group and don't have anyone to talk to!

Bali200 · 07/06/2024 10:48

@ceruleansky my midwife records baby’s position at every appointment I have based on her feeling the bump and I also can tell where her head is based on where I can feel her hiccups coming from 🥰

She is back in a head down position, phew 😅, and I think she’s been engaging the past couple of days as been having lots of lightning crotch and feeling more pressure on my bladder, the joys! Anyone else?

bringmearainbow · 07/06/2024 11:44

@Bali200 mines been head down for a while and def getting a lot of random pressure down there also still very swollen which is so uncomfortable 🥴 and don't get me started on my poor bladder it's going to be so relieved in a few weeks time 😂

ceruleansky · 07/06/2024 12:22

I'm with @AnonymousXXIX, can't join the group but please don't leave us stranded here! 💔

@Sophie3003
Interesting!! My baby is always head down in scans but after that I can't really guess the position. I can't wait to see them though. 😀

@Morningcoffeeaddict
Ahh makes me wonder about all the things they're going to do when they're out! 🤣 looks like your DS has been very active during scans! My baby is active but doesn't move much during scans, mostly curled up upside down with legs folded. Kinda in a meditative state 🤣

@Bali200
That's a good idea, to record the position!! I've definitely been experiencing pressure and weight along my pelvic floor. Kinda feels like I can't pee or poo freely there's some weight blocking everything. I think that's causing a lot of nausea for me. And I'm also unable to walk as much as I used to. :(

Morningcoffeeaddict · 07/06/2024 12:40

@ceruleansky - definitely a busy baby here, will be interesting to see if that’s what he’s like when he comes out certainly!!

Also struggling to walk very far now - poor dog is really suffering with the quality of his walks (and is a pest in the evening understandably)

Bali200 · 07/06/2024 12:42

@bringmearainbow yep also starting to swell up down there too, I never knew how glamorous pregnancy was 😂 got my last wax appointment on the 17th and feel a bit embarrassed going there with my swollen bits, but hoping I manage to avoid piles making an appearance before then too 🤞🏼😂

@ceruleansky it’s so uncomfortable isn’t it 😭 I really struggle walking now too, I really love being active but I’m struggling to even walk for 15 mins now, just feels like there is so much pressure at the bottom of my bump.

Really starting to struggle with everything now, I’m 35+4, finishing work for ML next Friday and I’m seriously counting down the days until I can have some daytime naps as the insomnia at night is really taking it out of me 😭

glasshalffull0 · 07/06/2024 13:01

@bringmearainbow oh my god same! The pressure when I walk is unbearable sometimes. I haven’t really had a good look or feel down there but it must be swollen, I feel like it’s bruised!

although I am (maybe naively) hoping this is a good sign that she’s slowly getting ready to come out!

Jess725 · 07/06/2024 13:20

Yes lots of pressure here and waddling around, feeling like I cannot walk very far too.
I havn't had chance to rest up yet as I have been doing lots of DIY to try to get things complete! I can't wait to slow down however, I think my body is going to make me stop first hahaha!
Just off to 36 week appointment now! (35+4 today)

ceruleansky · 07/06/2024 13:24

@Morningcoffeeaddict
I've heard that if they're active inutero, they will be once they're out! Can't wait! 🤣
Is there anyone else who can take your dog out at least once a day?

@Bali200
Absolutely.. I'm hoping that once my ML starts I'll make an effort to go walking. I'm currently alone when DH goes to work, and DH never has time for walks, so I hesitate to go out for walks alone, since I have felt dizzy a lot! My mum will be here next week, and my mother in law the week after so I'll try going with them.
Cheers to us, next Friday will be my last working day too! I can't wait!!! I'm looking forward to midday naps too, even though I'm sleeping well at night! 🤞

On another note, which week did everyone start feeling Braxton Hicks? Because I need to know what to expect! 🙈

Cherubs4 · 07/06/2024 13:33

Baby is not engaged yet here but I have a definite feeling of pressure from the weight - can walk if it's slowly and have been cycling to get my other children from school but mounting and dismounting is nerve wracking incase I bash my bump and it makes my carpal tunnel tingling worse. I'm wondering there is a way to encourage the baby to engage, will be looking that up this afternoon.
I felt like today was my first true ML day as after the children went to school, I napped on the couch for 2 hours and didn't feel guilty.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 07/06/2024 13:36

@ceruleansky - DH does take the dog before he goes to work and then once DS is in bed if he has the energy then, but he’s used to three walks a day so he’s missing the lunch one when he’s home with me.

Need to get to the end of the month before by ML starts but I am only working 3 days a week now for two rest days with DS at preschool. I’ve not been letting myself nap as much as I should though. Running around the house washing baby clothes and sorting hospital bags instead!

AnonymousXXIX · 07/06/2024 14:05

Had a midwife appt this morning and my baby has decided to go DIAGONAL. What even. Hope they shuffle down into the right position over the next few weeks (head is down, just... to the side a bit). Last baby came out 'stargazing', which resulted in a long labour and forceps delivery, so going to be bouncing all over the house on my ball to avoid a repeat of that... I already do lots of walks and pilates though so I don't know why my babies insist on turning the wrong way!

@Bali200 my bits feel swollen too, can't remember that from last time... No idea what it looks like down there though as I can't see or reach or any more. It just is what it is from now on 😂😂😂 Have a potential spa date with my sister in law two weeks before my due date and well, whatever I look like is very much going to be a them problem rather than a me problem 😂

@ceruleansky I have never had Braxton hicks, not previous pregnancy, or this one so far! So no idea! When contraction did start last time (which were indeed like period cramps, but with noticeable breaks) I was somehow very sure they were actual contractions, can't tell you how or why.

wannabe123 · 07/06/2024 16:23

I'm also on the count down to start ML next Friday. I can't wait - I'm so ready!

@ceruleansky I've had Braxton Hicks for ages I must have been 20-something weeks. They're getting more frequent now though and more uncomfortable. I didn't have them at all with my first and thought early labour was Braxton Hicks. Looking back I think I was in denial though!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 07/06/2024 18:23

@wannabe123 - I don’t even start ML until end of the month and I’m already on the countdown! Very exciting yours starts so soon!

ceruleansky · 08/06/2024 07:37

Had my 32 week appointment and baby is head down and engaged. I was advised to be active and everything's normal so far. I have check ups every week from now. Baby weighs 4lb now. DH was so spaced out during today's appointment, I think it's just hitting him now that we will have a baby in a few weeks.

@AnonymousXXIX
Good to know that's what contractions feel like.. I honestly don't know what to expect and am freaking out a bit.

@wannabe123
Oh.. that's rough. I suppose it's unpredictable when it occurs then.. I guess the main tell will be the interval between 2 contractions..

Nocoffeenotalkie · 08/06/2024 08:10

Had midwife appointment yesterday. Baby girl is head down, her back is along my right hand side.
She weighed 5lb2 at the scan last week (32wks) 😳 despite not growing properly, her tummy is quite round 😄.
I've got horrendous reflux. I can't even have a drink now without firey acid. Have to eat small amounts (cannot eat a whole dinner) and I need to stand up as I eat or I just can't do it! MW said just keep taking Gaviscon. I am getting through bottles of it at £17 a go!
This pregnancy is so different to my first which was a walk in the park...I was 11 years younger though.

Sophie3003 · 08/06/2024 08:12

@Nocoffeenotalkie you should be able to put in a request from the doctor to get gaviscon/peptic on prescription and have you seen your doctor to look at other medication such a omeprazole?

Nocoffeenotalkie · 08/06/2024 08:20

@Sophie3003 I haven't spoken to my GP. Wonder why my midwife didn't say anything. She literally said Gaviscon or Rennie were the only things but most find Gaviscon the better of the two! I will try the GP on Monday.

Sophie3003 · 08/06/2024 08:24

@Nocoffeenotalkie gaviscon/Pentac are the same thing but a different brand. I think the liquid is better for this type of thing. I think midwives only deal with pregnancy stuff not your normal things you would see the GP about but strange she didn't suggest you should see the GP.

Cherubs4 · 08/06/2024 08:26

I had heartburn/acid reflux for a week or 2 but it's gone now. A trigger for me was coffee and tomato puree. Also anything carbonated. Another on the thread mentioned a drink with whole milk and I did try that last night when I felt it coming up again and I didn't have any issues with it through the night. May be worth a try.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 08/06/2024 11:28

Glad the midwife appointments have gone well @ceruleansky @Nocoffeenotalkie - can’t believe how close it’s all getting myself now!

Milk has definitely helped with my reflux - or yoghurt / ice cream as dairy alternatives that are more enjoyable to eat
