Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talking all things post partum!

@Lillers haha well I have some classes that would love it and some full of teenage lads lads ๐Ÿ™ˆ so I just canโ€™t fathom theyโ€™ll care much!
Iโ€™ll perhaps tell the nicer groups. Love that though they want to be involved.

Im ordering some bias maxi skirts and t shirts to get me through the hot spell. I have some but a size up with elastic waist is gonna have to do.

I simply hate maternity clothes ๐Ÿ˜… and I have a wedding, baptism and a whole summer to go โ€ฆ. Ekk

Lillers · 10/05/2024 09:33

@longingtobe23 I was worried about my Y11s - there are lots of โ€œlad ladsโ€ in there (one of whom once threatened to bring in a gun and shoot me) and they often make inappropriate sexual comments (obviously always reported, sanctioned etc) but I was concerned that theyโ€™d ask me how I got pregnant or something. But when they found out, gun boy got really excited and told me the names heโ€™s already chosen for his future children! Now when they see me around school they make the other kids get out of the way to let me through. Itโ€™s like having my own personal set of incredibly tall bodyguards ๐Ÿ˜‚

tryingfortwo2 · 10/05/2024 09:47

@PoppingUp 24 weeks is quite the milestone, the โ€œviability ageโ€ where from now on, if (touch wood, god forbid, and all other sayings) baby is born early they will do their best to save them. And thatโ€™s also when they become a โ€œpersonโ€ in that theyโ€™d get a birth certificate etc.

Then 28 weeks for 3rd trimester, 30 weeks so the โ€œ9+ weeksโ€ countdowns are in single figures, work stop date, 37 weeks for full term, then due date. Interspaced with some midwife appts, I found the second half much easier mentally the first time round as there are more mini milestones to check off!

Xur · 10/05/2024 10:09

@longingtobe23 tell me about it, I got a baptism event and my own wedding in a few weeks. Not sure if the dress is still gonna fit ๐Ÿฅฒ๐Ÿ˜…

Honeyandsunshine1 · 10/05/2024 10:18

Sorry youโ€™re going through it too @rupertbear91 โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน I too thought that weโ€™d seen the back of winter cold/bugs/flu. Itโ€™s too hot to be coughing my lungs up ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿซ

How do you feel about the movements etc? Iโ€™m always the worst for going into MAU, Iโ€™ve only ever done it once in the 2.5 pregnancyโ€™s, I just always do the cliche โ€œah Iโ€™ll get there and theyโ€™ll think Iโ€™m sillyโ€ talk myself out of it ๐Ÿฅฒ

rupertbear91 · 10/05/2024 10:51

@Honeyandsunshine1 the midwife at my scan last week said she wouldn't worry about monitoring movement until 24 weeks so much as they can be really inconsistent. I have a midwife appointment at 23 weeks so going to bring it up then if it's still so few movements I'm feeling. I hadn't really considered going to get checked but it's hard to know at this stage what to do. He was all good and wriggling around last week in his scan!

longingtobe23 · 10/05/2024 10:54

@Xur oh my goodness how exciting!!! Try the dress on every two weeks and have seamstress on standby! I used to work in bridal they all have some element of give in the seams ๐Ÿ’• canโ€™t wait to see the pics!

@Lillers actually this sounds like a perfect solution to stop them popping off at me haha โ€ฆ Iโ€™ll be telling them next week and see if they cut me some slack ๐Ÿ˜‚

Emmaev · 10/05/2024 12:38

I feel like Iโ€™m counting down to 24 weeks, only 3 days away now which is crazy.

Isnโ€™t third trimester 27 weeks? I always get so confused. Some places say 27 weeks some say 28 weeks. But still to think next month Iโ€™ll be in the final trimester is mad. If someone told me Iโ€™d be in the third trimester on my 34th birthday Iโ€™d have laughed right in their face haha

Xur · 10/05/2024 05:34

The only pains I get these days are if I get up weird from the car I would be getting a lower back pain on one of the sides, but for me it is achievable if I sit too long in a lotus, way before pregnancy. So I attribute that to weird backbone position and getting out of the car with applying pressure to one leg in an odd way. My pains stopped after I began going to the gym, I donโ€™t have the pain under belly button anymore, I used to have it ever so often, but now itโ€™s gone. Now I would be getting a random ache if I turn too quick on the bed but thatโ€™s all. I have been doing pelvic floor exercises and various squats and leg presses at the gym. I do think that that helped, as the pain subsided right after I restarted the gym after 15 weeks.

@SpicyMoth If I am completely honest from your description it does sound like something I am anticipating to have later on, Braxton hicks can start as early as 20 weeks. Some people are more prone to it than others. Catherine Graves explained these feel like tightening rather than stabbing pains. Would you say itโ€™s more of one or the either?

Tysm for letting me know @Xur ! I really though Braxton Hicks were a more later on kind of thing, so it's a bit reassuring that it could be that!

I'd say it's more like tightening than stabbing pains, but being completely honest I wouldn't say it's really very much like either - more like a band of sudden ache either side of my tummy that stretches around to my back?
I'm unsure if you've ever had a kidney infection but it's almost like the same kind of pain and area as that, just on the less severe/painful side of things and more on the period crampy/achey side of things if that makes any sense?

It's very weird feeling as it's different to both of those things to be honest, it's just the closest comparison I really have. I used to have absolutely brutal period cramps as a teen and it's nowhere near that level of stabby pain, but it's also not nothing either.

Have been on to Midwife and she said to do the 30min lie on side w/ sugary drink thing and see if I feel anything, have just been swimming and currently eating a Greggs with a sugary J20 and a YumYum and getting the odd tummy flick - Am still feeling baby move for now, so I'm hoping everything's just fine and I'm being overly worried for nothing.

It's just such a weird and different sort of sensation of ache/pain that I've not had before ever really, and baby's movements are less vigorous than they were 3-4 days ago - I think that's why I'm worrying.
But then I suppose he could've just moved around positions!
Gah, I wish I could actually see him to check he's doing okay >.< !

Xur · 10/05/2024 13:21

@SpicyMoth you know it could also be stretchy pains, maybe your little one has a bigger pool now to swim in and thatโ€™s why it feels mild ๐Ÿคฟ
mine for example, some days I think he kicks and moves more, some less. I think itโ€™s part of the drill at the moment.

Oooo ok! Let me know. This is my third rodeo but still donโ€™t remember whatโ€™s normal/what isnโ€™t ๐Ÿ˜ฃ This baby has always been fairly โ€œtameโ€ on scans and not whizzing around the place like everyone else has described. The only wild thing she did was stay upside down during the 12 week scan ๐Ÿ˜‚ but other than that sheโ€™s been fairly cooperative at the 20 week and private scans. Maybe sheโ€™s just a chill bean ๐Ÿ‘€

Thank you for the solidarity ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿฉต hope your cold shifts soon!!

Honeyandsunshine1 · 10/05/2024 13:48

For anyone still stuck on prams (like I was for MONTHS) weโ€™ve just bought a second hand mountain buggy duet and I highly recommend for anyone with toddlers. It pushes soooo smoothly and is quite narrow. We live in London and have a small narrow doorway as we live in a converted Victorian, and Iโ€™m so surprised that it fits.

Weโ€™ve got it set up for 2 toddlers at the moments as Itโ€™s currently carting around my 4 and 2 year old (with such ease) but you can change one of the seats to a baby seat when needed. My eldest will need to hop back onto his feet when his sister arrives, but until thenโ€ฆ chefs kiss ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป

We didnโ€™t have the budget for a brand new one so I joined a โ€œmountain buggy buy swap sellโ€ facebook group and one popped up near us for ยฃ250! Which included a baby carry cot and rain covers. Really happy with it

Decaffe · 10/05/2024 14:21

@Lillers your description of your tall bodyguards and โ€˜gun boyโ€™ made me chuckle this morning ๐Ÿ˜

All went well at my obstetrician check today and I got a bonus Doppler as there was a student there who did it for the first time, so that was good. We also discussed potential c-section dates, Friday 13th being one of them! ๐Ÿ€

Lillers · 10/05/2024 14:45

All went well at the scan! And I am joining ๐Ÿ’•Team Girl๐Ÿ’•

She was SO wriggly - I expected as much because sheโ€™d been kicking so much this morning, and even when I was sitting in the waiting room I could feel her (normally I only really feel her in the morning and evening).

Took ages to get all the measurements because she wouldnโ€™t stop moving, and then when she did decide to curl up and go to sleep she did so in a position where the sonographer couldnโ€™t see anything, so I had to do lots of jumps/wiggles/hip thrusts ๐Ÿ˜‚

RosiePH · 10/05/2024 14:50

Great news @Lillers!

Also just had my scan and heโ€™s doing well in there! We knew he was a boy from our NIPT, but great to get that confirmed today. He is most definitely a boy shall we say ๐Ÿ˜‚

Such a relief to have had it now though! Iโ€™d started to get so nervous.

I have felt a few kicks but actually my placenta is anterior but right at the top. A few times Iโ€™ve thought I can actually feel the placenta beating when Iโ€™ve rested my hand on my tummy. The sonographer said that sheโ€™s finds most ladies are anterior these days, but it used to be that posterior was more common. Quite interesting to know!

mrsbgb · 10/05/2024 14:54

@Lillers @RosiePH great news for both of you!

@Decaffe my due date is Friday 13th, which is also my birthday - and I was born on a Friday 13th too! I think I've turned out alright so can't be too unlucky ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ€

WinsandSam · 10/05/2024 18:00

@Lillers @RosiePH

Such great news for you both!

Welcome to team girl @Lillers ๐Ÿ’•

@hol92 Thatโ€™s a lovely photo ๐Ÿฅฐ Iโ€™ve not got varicose veins but I am bruising like a peach at the moment! They donโ€™t hurt but look awful, great just in time for the nicer weather when I want to wear shorts/dresses ๐Ÿ˜‚

I forgot to mark a spot on this thread until now ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ My pgp is causing me a lot of discomfort in the evenings but the pain is different to last time itโ€™s more in my tailbone so Iโ€™m trying to do lots of deep squats and pigeon stretches.

I had my daughters health visitor review today and it was funny thinking about the woman coming out to the house to visit again in October both how much older DD will be but having another baby there too. The early HV visits are definitely much easier today DD had a meltdown as I wouldnโ€™t let her wear her shoes on her hands when we were about to leave ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

MudandMoet · 10/05/2024 20:18

@Lillers welcome to team girl ๐Ÿ’• was that what was predicted by your sister (?)

@hol92 lovely photo ๐ŸŒท๐Ÿ’• it's most likely nothing at all to worry about but maybe mention the varicose vein at your next midwife appointment as mine asked me last time if I had any come and they also asked me at the hospital too.

Emmaev · 10/05/2024 21:12

@Lillers aww thanks fantastic news. Another for team girl ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–
So glad your scan also went well @RosiePH

@hol92 ive been getting varicose veins as well. I noticed them a few weeks back and they havenโ€™t increased but they definitely werenโ€™t there before. Currently just on my knee bend on both legs. So hoping they donโ€™t get much worse. But I am particularly veiny this time round
