@MudandMoet Haha yes, that is what my sister predicted. Sheโ€™s been as unbearable as expected ๐Ÿ˜‚

Demi55 · 11/05/2024 05:57

Had my scan this week which showed us we are having girl! Was a total shock as I was convinced it was a boy! Itโ€™s finally given me some relief, ive been terrified something has gone wrong but baby was all good just measuring slightly small

@Lillers Iโ€™m a secondary teacher too, did you tell your Y10s? Iโ€™m thinking of waiting until someone asks me! Although most of my students are probably going to be too polite until I have a massive bump!

Congrats on all the lovely scans! 2 girls to add to the tally ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’•

I just wanted to add to the aches/pains chat as Iโ€™ve been getting round ligament pain when I walk for a longer period of time! Either walking the dog or this weekend, weโ€™re away for a mini moon in Europe and after 15K steps my lower belly/groin is so achey! Itโ€™s like a stitch on one or both sides however it stops when I rest.

We actually had sex last night and I couldnโ€™t continue on top because of the round ligament pain ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ

Kofifi · 11/05/2024 08:32

Wow thread 7! I haven't posted in a few weeks.

Im now 21 weeks. We're having a boy!
He seems to be very active and is kicking and rolling all the time.

I'm now wearing the same two pairs of leggings day in and day out so going shopping today to treat myself to new XL size clothes!

Lillers · 11/05/2024 09:01

@Demi55 Lovely scan photo! So Iโ€™d had quite a bit of a time off sick on and off, and I have a lovely group of girls in my Y10 class (the kind who always stay back after lessons to gossip etc) and they asked why I hadnโ€™t been in. I said, โ€œIโ€™ve been off sick a lot, and Iโ€™m sitting down a lot, and none of my clothes fit anymoreโ€ฆhave you guys really not twigged yet?โ€ And they got really excited and said theyโ€™d wondered if I was pregnant but didnโ€™t want to ask!

I hope everyone has a lovely day today, itโ€™s meant to be a warm one so lots of floaty dresses! Be careful of underboob rub - Iโ€™ve always had big boobs but combine that with bump and yesterday I had some serious sore patches! Today Iโ€™ll be prepared with some anti-chafe cream from my running days!

Khanga27 · 11/05/2024 09:15

i just wondered how often are people feeling kicks? Iโ€™m 24 weeks and have a posterior placenta but I feel some days I feel a fair bit, others not very much. Iโ€™ve been checked when I had a couple of days of low/no movement but they found a heartbeat and could hear movements were fine as well so no concerns. Feel like sometimes Iโ€™m driving myself mad, especially when I see how much movement others are getting earlier on in pregnancy

longingtobe23 · 11/05/2024 09:33

Itโ€™s so hard @Khanga27 even harder with a thread of lots of ladies and all different with different babies. But good for getting it checked. I think keep notes on your own movements and track it that way.

im still getting them sporadically but Iโ€™m happy with once/ twice a day this yearly of a good strong kick. Iโ€™ll probs start jotting down at 24 weeks and see if I can spot the trends
i drank a fizzy drink yesterday and that helped get her going !

Aww thatโ€™s lovely! Iโ€™m pretty sure two of my classes have some idea. Iโ€™ll give it a few more weeks and tell them when itโ€™s stupidly obvious haha! I think most of the classes will be pretty good. The next month at work is going to be tough with the exam season and the warmth! And thank you, I canโ€™t stop looking at it!

longingtobe23 · 11/05/2024 09:35
  • this early

oops typo!

in other news - decorators quote for what I wanted for nursery (ouch) going to try and get him to 2 days ๐Ÿ˜… just to take the manual labour/stress out and we do the prep
but logged onto my basket for the new carpet and itโ€™s half price with extra 20% off - the stars aligned! Who caught the northern lights last night!? I got goosebumps โœจ

MrsM89 · 11/05/2024 12:01

Great news on all the scans ladies.

@longingtobe23 whats the nursery plan?
Xx

Xur · 11/05/2024 14:00

@Khanga27 I got posterior and some days itโ€™s more, some less. Some days stronger, some lighter. I can feel him kicking my bladder ๐Ÿ˜‚ he loves the bladder

MudandMoet · 11/05/2024 14:29

@Lillers oh damn! Hopefully now she's had her say she'll chirp down a bit ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

@HRP1990 you'll have to be a 'pillow queen' now girl! I don't really enjoy sex as much on top, it just doesn't hit the spot for me so I'm gonna say I've got this round ligament pain you mention and join the pillow queen club from here on in ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ my husband is a big lad (waist not D, though I'm not complaining) so as long as he doesn't put his full weight on my tummy before/during/after then alls good ๐Ÿ˜‚

Congrats on the girl news @Demi55 and the boy news for you @Kofifi ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿฉท

@Xur ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ another bladder booter here. I swear one day soon I'm going to piss myself with how strong they are sometimes!

Emmaev · 11/05/2024 14:44

Iโ€™ve got another bladder/cervix kicker here. Some days sheโ€™s so strong I think sheโ€™s gonna just burst right out. Sheโ€™s so much stronger and active than DD. Iโ€™m so surprised. DD was a lazy little bean

Xur · 11/05/2024 15:24

@MudandMoet the joys of feeling someone stepping on our bladders and trying to not piss ourselves..then running to the toilet with barely anything coming out. Itโ€™s okay if it happens when sitting, but when the kick comes when Iโ€™m standing upwards or walking genuinely feels like Iโ€™m a diaper away from despair.

RosiePH · 11/05/2024 15:45

I have done a lot of shopping today! Went to the NEC Baby Show and came away with a 3-piece nursery furniture set, a maxi-cost next-to-me, BabyBjorn bouncer, pram and car seat!

There were some good deals and it was great to compare a few different brands. Iโ€™d been set on the Mamas and Papas Ocarro going in, but went for the Oyster 3 in the end. We upgraded the car seat in the bundle to the cybex cloud though.

We got more for our money than Iโ€™d expected, basing my prices on John Lewis and Mamas and Papas.

MrsM89 · 11/05/2024 16:23

@RosiePH we were meant to be going this weekend but with the last few weeks being so worrying we didn't decide to.
Do you mind sharing what nursery furniture you got and if it was a good deal on them? X

RosiePH · 11/05/2024 16:32

@MrsM89 that is very understandable!

We chose the Little Acorns Sophia set in cashmere (canโ€™t find that colour online yet as apparently it was new in - a lovely light griege and very neutral). We paid ยฃ699 for it. They then had an offer on the mattress too, so we paid ยฃ79 for a pocket spring airflo mattress (had 50% off).

I think I made a mistake in choosing the crรจme brรปlรฉe pram though! Wondering if itโ€™s just too light and will show the dirt so I might ring and see if I can swap my Oyster order for the stone coloured.

Xur · 11/05/2024 16:53

@RosiePH we are going tomorrow! Would you say 4K quid is enough to purchase most necessary bits there this weekend?

RosiePH · 11/05/2024 16:59

@Xur that will be plenty! I had thought everything I bought today would be more like ยฃ3.5k in John Lewis (although I had planned on the Ocarro and then a Britax seat). I spent ยฃ2.2k all in and felt like I got a lot for it. My maxi-cosi next to me is price-matched by John Lewis this weekend, but buying at the show got me some extras thrown in (carry case, waterproof mattress cover and sheets).

rupertbear91 · 11/05/2024 19:08

@RosiePH I'm so jealous you went today I keep seeing clips of it on instagram we have to wait till 8th June when it's in Manchester ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

I was outside in a field all day today at a competition with the dogs and it was so hot. I ended up putting the dogs cool coat over bump to stop him getting too hot! I can't say I'm looking forward to being any bigger than I am now in the heat today was challenging enough!

longingtobe23 · 11/05/2024 20:28

@MrsM89 nothing too extreme ! But a picture rail 1/4 up - paint job - wood work - wallpaper ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿซฃ I assume it all added up which makes sense!
thankfully got a deal on the carpet and will see if I can get most of the prep done before he comes!
also decided our furniture but going to wait for a good offer ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜… wish I got baby show tickets now. But Iโ€™m sure between now and then Iโ€™ll get it all sorted x

WinsandSam · 12/05/2024 08:06

You guys are spending the big bucks ๐Ÿ’ฐ ๐Ÿ˜… I'm hoping to get everything for under 1k! A lot will be second hand, especially furniture.

Absolutely no clue on what pushchair to get!! I found an occaro but saw it weighed 14kg which is 2 stone. See Bugaboo Fox is around 9kg.

Any suggestions?
Must be light weight
Easy to fold
Good on and off road
Car seat compatible (want a 360 one ideally.)

PoppingUp · 12/05/2024 08:40

Has anyone seen any good guides to things like prams and car seats online?

My partner gets overwhelmed with too many decisions at once (as do I tbf) so we went for a quick pop into Mamas and Papas yesterday just to get a sense of the sorts of things that exist and with no pressure to pick anything. We had a lot of fun getting emotional at the newborn clothes but didn't actually get anywhere with learning about which type of pram etc ๐Ÿ˜… so definitely need to do some reading up at home and set out next time with more of a plan!

I also bought some nice elastic waisted linen shorts and trousers and oversized dresses, all a size up from normal, and am hoping they'll do me for as long as possible as the maternity ranges all look so frumpy and like they'd fit badly everywhere except the bump!

TripleESept24 · 12/05/2024 08:52

I did a shein maternity order last night for summer, this nice weather and I have zero shorts/skirts or dresses that fit me!!!!!! Got some maternity pants too and nursing bras!!

MrsM89 · 12/05/2024 09:13

This was shared by a car seat safety group so may be useful @PoppingUp xx
