@Xur and @PoppingUp great news for you both today ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ pleased for you!

Xur · 08/05/2024 20:25

@WinsandSam thanks! Btw I got my MatB1 certificate in the post today, from the midwife office, where an unknown midwife wrote one for me, my own midwife still hasnโ€™t even responded to my text ๐Ÿ˜‚

WinsandSam · 08/05/2024 20:31

@Xur ah lucky you!! I called the midwife line and they agreed to do one for me.. but I have to go and pick it up, a 30 min drive from my home, within working hours ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ I asked them to post and they said nope

Cinai · 08/05/2024 21:35

Thatโ€™s interesting to know @HRP1990!

Thanks @Xur, itโ€™s probably all absolutely fine, and Iโ€™d even feel ok with having a c-section, should my placenta end up being low. I think Iโ€™m just going down a rabbit hole of developing placenta previa and having a bleeding that can be dangerousโ€ฆI definitely shouldnโ€™t google so much because my placenta is not even low lying right now, just borderline.

tierneytarny · 08/05/2024 22:04

Place marking! Hope everyone is doing ok

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 09/05/2024 05:02

Scan day for me today - which of course means waking up at 4am for no reason other than nerves ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I had to get up to pee 3 times in the night too, and then I had a dream someone tried climbing through my bedroom window! So not a great night's sleep for me lol!

Decaffe · 09/05/2024 08:15

Good luck @BeautyAndTheBump1!

Does anyone have any tips for staying sleeping on their side during the night? I go to sleep on my side but always wake up throughout the night on my back.

Itโ€™s interfering with my sleep because I sort of wake up half a dozen times during the night thinking โ€˜get off your back! Get back into your side!โ€™ ๐Ÿ˜…

Lillers · 09/05/2024 08:22

@Decaffe No advice, only the same issue! When I first got my pregnancy pillow it was great and I could sleep through on my side - now I feel like I must spend half my sleep time untangling myself from it because I always wake up on my back! Itโ€™s so annoying because before I got pregnant I was a side sleeper ๐Ÿ˜‚

Khanga27 · 09/05/2024 08:23

@Decaffe thanks for this, Iโ€™ll take a look. However I had my whooping cough vaccine today at my GP surgery and asked the nurse there. She said that pregnancy isnโ€™t considered by NHS as immunosuppressed at the moment and some vaccine centres ask at your appointment of evidence of having an immunosuppressed condition such as a letter or prescription. As you mention at least itโ€™s coming up to summer. I got my flu jab in October (as Iโ€™m asthmatic) so at least Iโ€™m covered for that (my husband had a nasty bout of flu last month and I luckily avoided it, though made him sleep in the spare room ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Edited to add that I have my gestational diabetes blood tests Monday at the hospital so I think Iโ€™ll ask there as well just in case.

Cinai · 09/05/2024 08:24

Good luck @BeautyAndTheBump1

Yes, I also struggle with side sleeping. The last two nights I didnโ€™t sleep well because I find side sleeping so uncomfortable and I get pain in my spine. This night I was so tired that I slept deeply, and turned on my back in my sleep for a full night of peaceful back sleeping ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

WinsandSam · 09/05/2024 08:31

@BeautyAndTheBump1 hope all goes well for you!!

Regarding side sleeping, I also wake up on my back multiple times during the night. I'm trying not to worry about it as it's soooo comfy. I do roll back over to my side but I always move. I did some reading and there's mixed info, some say sleep however your comfortable. Also don't worry if you wake on your back as you'll know if there's a problem as will feel dizzy etc

rupertbear91 · 09/05/2024 09:37

On the Covid vaccination front my partner is on immunosuppressants so had his booster a few weeks ago. Normally I get called at the same time as living with someone vulnerable, but didn't this time and he asked at his appointment and mentioned I was pregnant and they said the spring booster is not readily available and for only a few specific categories ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ I'm hoping they go back to being more I inclusive for the winter one.

RosiePH · 09/05/2024 09:39

My hospital has just posted on their maternity FB page that they are still giving flu jabs - really annoying as when I was there they said no in March! Will ask my GP nurse when I go in for my whooping cough vaccine, which theyโ€™ve delayed to next week now as the nurse is off sick.

Fik88 · 09/05/2024 11:34

I rang my GP surgery yesterday to ask about flu vaccine thinking it would be too late to get it and the receptionist said they still had some stock in and booked me in for next week. It must depend where you live again if some of you can't seem to get it.

longingtobe23 · 09/05/2024 12:28

Off to tell my head of school then email HR tonight โ€ฆ feel like Iโ€™m 16 and pregnant what the heck! lol
Hoping it will explain why my professional clothing has gone out the window โ€ฆ and my back is killing in the classroom and I need to make sure I am resting as much as I can without looking like Iโ€™m taking the piss. Will also explain why I use the lift so much with my bags of crap ๐Ÿซฃ

I am worried as the upcoming promotion is at risk (I know legally it canโ€™t be) but Iโ€™d rather be upfront and express how much I do want it, I just wonโ€™t be starting for a year ๐Ÿ˜‚ wish me luck!

Also love how Iโ€™m always at the photocopier for this bump side shots โ€ฆ I just keep checking if I look pregnant in the corridors

I also googled is it safe to use a photocopier pregnant ๐Ÿซฃbrain is just mush haha

tryingfortwo2 · 09/05/2024 13:13

With the side sleeping thing, I think as long as you start on your side thereโ€™s only so much you can do! I think thatโ€™s even what the guidance says? Because we spend more time in the position we fall asleep in.

Like @WinsandSam said, Iโ€™ve also been told that if you were at all awake youโ€™d soon know about it if it wasnโ€™t okay. I think it happened to me once in my first pregnancy, at an appointment where I had to lie back I came over all lightheaded, faint and sick feeling and it went away as soon as they sat me more upright, so I assume thatโ€™s what it was. Iโ€™m not sure if it would wake you up from a deep sleep mind you.

ForeverHopeful67 · 09/05/2024 13:55

Hi ladies!

Marking my place, lovely to hear that everyone's scans are going well ๐Ÿฅฐ

I'm 23 weeks now and little man as certainly VERY active now it stops me in my tracks some days! Feeling like I'm running out of space not sure how I can go another 17 weeks!haha

Question - what clothes are you all buying for when baby is here? I'm thinking end of August/ beginning of September could be pretty warm so I don't know what we should be dressing a newborn in then! I.e just short sleeve vests or long sleeve vests or still baby grows? Ahhhhh

mrsbgb · 09/05/2024 14:19

@Decaffe @Lillers @Cinai @WinsandSam I got a natty pillow which sort of wedges you in, which Iโ€™ve found helps quite a lot - Iโ€™ve been away with work the last two nights without it and noticed a huge difference in the quality of my sleep/rolling onto my back so would recommend!

@ForeverHopeful67 Iโ€™ve just been buying a random selection of short / long sleeve vests and sleep suits, but mostly in 0-3 rather than newborn so theyโ€™ve got a longer chance of fitting. I figured I can order some bits closer to the time once thereโ€™s a better idea of the weather. My parents and parents in law keep buying him actual outfits so hopefully thereโ€™ll be layers if needed!

Hope all went well for you today @BeautyAndTheBump1

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 09/05/2024 14:42

Thankyou for everyone's well wishes ๐Ÿฅฐ the scan went great! My placenta has been low lying and she said it looked close on the external scan so she decided to check with an internal scan for accuracy and it showed that its not within the low lying range which was a bonus! Even though I know they move up most of the time it's 1 less thing to worry about now.

Confirmed a girl too ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฉท

@BeautyAndTheBump1 great news!! Bet you're feeling relieved

WinsandSam · 09/05/2024 15:36

@longingtobe23 hope it goes well with your meeting!!
You are really able to hide it, me less so ๐Ÿ˜… I find peoples bumps amazing because they're so different. I'm 20 weeks with my first and feel about 7 months!

longingtobe23 · 09/05/2024 15:56

@WinsandSam thatโ€™s a lovely perfect bump
sonographer told me I have a long torso so baby is hidingโ€ฆ And with my son I had nothing until 6 months!

meeting went well im so glad I got it out when I did as he is planning for September timetables and he was appreciative I told him ๐Ÿคญ
will likely less the rest of the staff next week at 22 weeks x

WinsandSam · 09/05/2024 16:10

@longingtobe23 that's great news, you can relax a little one!

Ha I am short at 5ft3 and have a tiny torso ๐Ÿ˜… so makes total sense. Crazy how different our bodies are and their reaction to pregnancy

RosiePH · 09/05/2024 17:57

@longingtobe23 oh I have a long torso too! Bump is still very small at 20 weeks I think. I donโ€™t think youโ€™d look at me and think โ€˜sheโ€™s pregnant!โ€™ - just a bit tubby around the middle ๐Ÿ˜‚

DH has just suggested a Dominoโ€™s as the solution to his cold this evening, and I canโ€™t refuse. Although we also said weโ€™d get a quick McDonaldโ€™s on the way to my scan tomorrow as itโ€™s at 1.30pm and travel will be over lunchtimeโ€ฆ feeling a bit guilty at the lack of nutritious food this baby is getting this week!
