@WeightoftheWorld Fingers crossed for you that baby gets itself in the right position in the next couple of weeks!

@CharlieBalf Another big baby, seems like there are a few of us who seem to be having chunky little ones on this thread! It's good that you've got your section booked and can bring it forward if you need to, even if it's only by a little bit. Fingers crossed all goes okay with your house move and everything, that's a lot to be dealing with when you get to full term!

I had my 38 week appointment this morning, was quite useful to chat a few things through with the midwife and all good apart from blood pressure being a little bit high so she wants me to go back next week for another check and a bump measurement. We had a chat about sweeps and she said I might want to consider a sweep next week if the fundal height measurement is showing off the charts, but otherwise we agreed to leave it until my 40 week appointment to worry about that. Baby seems to be doing well and is still in the right position (I definitely don't need the midwife to tell me it's head down, I can feel it in my pelvis whenever I'm standing up!). @Sara1988 I asked her about the period pain-type cramping that I've had a couple of times, which I remember you mentioning you were having - she said nothing to worry about, just the body practising and getting geared up for labour by contracting the muscles. I wasn't sure whether to worry about the fact that when I've had it it's gone on for 15-20 minutes at a time continuously, but she said it's all just the body testing out what it needs to do.

Still having a complete fiasco trying to get hold of the RSV vaccination - the midwife said the hospital were meant to start rolling it out this week but nobody has contacted me, and when I asked at reception at the GP practice the receptionist said pregnant women aren't even eligible for it! Can't believe how poorly informed she was - she had to ring the practice manager to get confirmation that I was right and should be offered it, then suggested I call them in 2 weeks' time to see if they have more in stock. Like, yes, I'm full term already and this baby might drop at any point but sure, I'll just wait a couple of weeks. 🙄

Hope everyone is doing well and has some nice things planned for this weekend - not too long to go now, ladies!

Hi all, first time on this thread! I'm currently 34 weeks and 4 days. Officially the longest I've been pregnant! My DS was born at 34 weeks and 2 days, and I had an early loss and late miscarriage last year. All going well so far! Repeat C section booked in for mid October, hoping all stays well until then. going on maternity leave quite soon so I'm looking forward to that! Definitely feeling uncomfortable now!

rachisamumtobe · 13/09/2024 16:59

@hihihithere welcome! I'm exactly 34 weeks and 4 days too! Due date twin!

I'm feeling uncomfortable too but go on maternity leave today! as of... well now! Woohoo! Having my baby shower tomorrow 🥰 when do you go off?

CluelessInLondon · 13/09/2024 17:24

@hihihithere Welcome and congratulations! Glad to hear all is going well so far. 😊

@rachisamumtobe ah enjoy your maternity leave! I'm off next Friday! Enjoy your baby shower!

Sara1988 · 13/09/2024 18:20

@CluelessInLondon my midwife said something similar about the period pains but they've completely gone now! Are you still getting them?

I can't believe how different people's experience of getting the vaccine is! I went down to the mat ward and just got one there and then at my hospital. They seem to have someone on doing vaccines everyday. Was the same for my whooping cough.

I have one more week at work. In retrospect I wish I'd stopped earlier. Will be 38 weeks when I finish!

rachisamumtobe · 13/09/2024 18:41

@hihihithere thank you! X

mrssunshinexxx · 13/09/2024 19:29

My last bump measurement was 90th centile and went in for RM yesterday and got measured and she put me at under 10th centile so I have a growth scan on Tues. I know they can be notorious for just being wrong both measurements and scans but I feel abit concerned i wonder what's going on in there

Sara1988 · 13/09/2024 20:07

My baby is 92nd percentile and no one seems that bothered... and I'm planning on a homebirth. I have checked and they're like yeah that's fine...

CluelessInLondon · 14/09/2024 17:12

@Sara1988 I had the period-type pain once last weekend and then once more during the week - it was definitely worse second time, made me worry a bit about how I'm going to cope with labour! My husband rightly pointed out that I'll be a bit more "in the zone" when it comes to giving birth so it's not really the same thing, so I'm trying not to worry too much...

@mrssunshinexxx I had some measurements that were all over the place a few weeks ago - bump measurement went from 90th to 65th to 15th percentile, then a scan at 34 weeks put me back on the 90th with the baby's AC measuring 98th. Seems to have settled around the 90th now but the midwife doesn't think my bump is especially big and the doctor said they can only be about 60% confident in measurements even from scans. I don't think there's much consistency in how people measure either - my bump has been measured every time by a different person so there's a lot of room for human error too. I hope the scan goes well and gives you some reassurance that all is okay.

@CluelessInLondon i had the same thought! I was like oh dear...this doesn't bode well. But I also didn't take any pain relief for it, so maybe it'll be ok...

mrssunshinexxx · 15/09/2024 07:48

@Sara1988 if they've always followed the same line they won't be worried

mrssunshinexxx · 15/09/2024 07:49

Thanks @CluelessInLondon will report back. I've got Covid and feel miserable the kids have got it too not a good mix at nearly 35 weeks pregnant just want him here now

Sara1988 · 15/09/2024 09:06

Has anyone else's resting heart rate gone down? Mine has gone down by 1 everyday. Google it and apparently it goes down in the run up to labour!

Yes I was going to say it’s a sign of impending labour!!

@Sara1988 7 weeks before labour it starts dropping! Heart rate variability starts rising 7 weeks before too. The study was done by Whoop (the fitness tracker). Link here. It’s so interesting!

My HRV has gone up too! How exciting. Looks like my peak RHR was 15th August and has been coming down since. How exciting! Thanks for sharing. Will have a read.

When is your due date?

Sara1988 · 15/09/2024 20:17

@AppleTree16 6th October! So this works out about right.

AppleTree16 · 15/09/2024 21:42

@Sara1988 exciting times. Mine has done similar and I’m hoping baby arrives end of September!

HEIHEI23 · 16/09/2024 06:55

First time on the thread but just wondering about what people are doing about COVID? I’m due start of October and starting to worry about me or partner testing positive. Are people still isolating or just cracking on? First baby and just the thought of doing it without him is so scary!

Not even testing now (I did get tested the other week in triage but I was very ill). NHS advice isn’t even to isolate anymore? Unless you are significantly unwell I don’t think it’s an issue any longer.

Do you know what happens if your birth partner tests positive? We still have to test due to our jobs 🙈

SuenoNB · 16/09/2024 11:35

Has anyone else had to do finger prick testing for diabetes 4x per day, without actually having tested positive for gestational diabetes? Moved house and transferred to a new nhs Trust and currently 36+5. Have previously had 2 glucose intolerance tests which came back no issues. Understand that they are being cautious as growth scans have been over 97th centile, but just a bit confused as I've had no real issues this pregnancy and it feels a bit like they are just trying to find something wrong. My husband is 6'7" so we're not really surprised baby is big and I feel quite confident that my body wouldn't grow a baby it couldn't birth.
