@CharlieBalf I have been getting Braxton Hicks most days, often many times a day for the past fortnight or so too and I'm nearly 33 weeks. I hardly had any with DC2 and none with DC1 so it feels strange! Everything is still in the loft here, still have no idea where the baby's clothes are going to go so can't really get them down til we've got a solution to that...! I did buy them a pack of sleepsuits today though which is the first thing I've bought for them so far (but obviously we have most things anyway from our other two). I'm just feeling increasingly panicky about everything tbh, I think you are so resilient to be moving house at the same time!

CharlieBalf · 01/09/2024 21:15

@WeightoftheWorld you're further ahead than me! I have purchased nothing for this poor little baba!

Moving house was certainly not in the original plan but nothing can be done now! Babies grow faster than house sales go through lol

BH are terrible this time round- I also didn't have many at all with the first two.

Sara1988 · 03/09/2024 21:22

How is everyone?

My pelvis is killing me! I don't think it's PGP, I think it's the baby's head!

Have my 36 week scan tomorrow.

rachisamumtobe · 04/09/2024 10:20

@Sara1988 tired! Sorry to hear about your pain, I had some of that lower down yesterday.

Good luck with your scan. I'm having one tomorrow and I'm 33 weeks + 3 days. Xxx

CluelessInLondon · 04/09/2024 10:29

@Sara1988 @rachisamumtobe Good luck for your scans.

I've got my consultant appointment this afternoon to talk about birth options - according to the midwife it will probably focus on how overdue I can go if the baby is measuring big, so I'm kind of expecting a discussion about whether to be induced or have a c-section if baby doesn't arrive on its own before 41 weeks. I've also got to have some bloods done, and I am really fed up of having needles stuck in me - I had my OGTT last week and then over the weekend ended up at a random hospital having bloods and anti D because I fell over while I was out walking, so I think by the time I've been seen this afternoon that will be 6 needles in just over a week!

Has anyone been invited for their flu jab yet? I've booked mine in with my GP practice for next Monday - not really looking forward to that one as I know people who have had horrendous side effects from the flu jab previously, but I would hate to end up with me or baby getting the flu over the winter. I'm also trying to find out about the rollout of the RSV vaccine at my hospital but the maternity imms team hasn't returned my call yet so I'm none the wiser on that one!

Hi all I've not been on here much for a while I hope everyone is keeping ok.
36wks now and feeling it I had midwife appointment yesterday gutted my hospital trust have changed the elective c section booking in system been told I won't get a date until the Friday before. I no it'll be done in 39th week just I was hoping to have a date by now 😔

RobynC28 · 04/09/2024 14:55

@CluelessInLondon I've had my flu jab every year and I've never had side effects-mines booked for next week. Plus had my rsv yesterday and had no side effects at all.
Hoping to get the covid jab before the end of September too!

Sara1988 · 04/09/2024 17:18

@CluelessInLondon how big is your baby? Mine is 92nd percentile and am planning a homebirth. Starting to worry that won't be an option. Sonographer did say today that the measurements are 'symmetrical' so I don't need to worry about shoulder dystocia and midwife basically said scan measurements don't mean anything so don't worry... but I'm not sure I want a homebirth for a 10lb baby.

I'm getting rsv on Monday.

WeightoftheWorld · 04/09/2024 17:51

I also get the flu jab every year and never have any side effects, only my arm aches for a day or too. I got my whooping cough V
vax today, a bit late. Partly my own fault for leaving it so late then had to wait a few weeks for an appt. I asked the nurse re: RSV and flu and she said she had neither of them in stock yet. Made an appointment for next week for the RSV one as she thinks the sister practice have them so she can get one for me but she said that wasn't certain and she would call me before if she can't get one. And warned me they never have the flu one in until the end of September so to call back in a few weeks to try and squeeze that in before baby is here. I will call my local pharmacy regarding the flu one and my midwife re: the RSV one too to see if either can help. I wish the midwives just did all the antenatal vaccines as standard as part of the routine antenatal appointments, it would be so much easier and I think uptake would increase massively.

CluelessInLondon · 04/09/2024 18:14

@Sara1988 Mine is measuring around the 90th percentile, although the doctor I saw today said that even measured at a scan they can only be about 60% confident in the accuracy of the measurements. I've only been scanned once since 20 weeks, all my other measurements are based on fundal height which mostly seems like guesswork! I was told at my appointment today that I don't need to do anything differently at the moment, I can still have a natural birth as long as I want one and follow the normal pathway - so the appointment ended up being a bit of a waste of time really...

Thanks for the reassurance about the flu jab everyone! I've never bothered having it before although I am able to get it each year if I want it as I work for the NHS - I've never been very good with needles so tend to steer clear of injections unless I don't really have any choice. Think pregnancy has definitely made me cope with needles a lot better than I used to!

Tesco pharmacies have got stock of the flu vaccine and appointments in September

Sara1988 · 04/09/2024 19:23

@CluelessInLondon I'm having scans every four weeks - next one at 40 weeks - and baby has been consistently 90+. I can't tell you how many people I know who were told they had big babies for them to be small and told they had small babies for them to be big.

mrssunshinexxx · 05/09/2024 01:17

Not to scare you @Sara1988 and I sincerely hope that doesn't happen to you but baby being symmetrical measurements does not mean shoulder dystocia couldn't happen x

Sara1988 · 05/09/2024 07:39

@mrssunshinexxx oh no of course. But l think if the baby has a larger ac than head it makes it more likely. Whereas my baby's big head will do the damage first 😅

RobynC28 · 05/09/2024 10:28

Superdrug also has the flu vaccine in stock for pregnant women.

WeightoftheWorld · 05/09/2024 13:08

Yeah fundal height is totally inaccurate and scans are better but can still be quite off. They told me my DC2 was going to be around the 7lb mark like DC1 but he turned out to be 8lb 6! And my fundal height measurements where the opposite - the reason I was sent for a few growth scans in the first place was because my midwife was plotting me on like 0.2nd centile or something by fundal height!

rachisamumtobe · 05/09/2024 17:59

@CluelessInLondon thank you! All looking good. Baby is breach so could do with encouraging him to turn somehow! X growing normally

CluelessInLondon · 05/09/2024 18:04

@rachisamumtobe Ah, that's good news, apart from him being breech! You've got a bit of time yet for him to turn though, my midwife said they don't worry too much about whether baby is head down until 36 weeks. Mine has been head down since 34 weeks so I'm paranoid it's going to go the other way and flip around right before my due date! 🤦🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
Sara1988 · 05/09/2024 18:09

@CluelessInLondon mine had been head down since 28 weeks. Was really worried they would turn but I'm nearly 36 weeks and still head down, so fingers crossed for you.

@rachisamumtobe would really recommend swimming and birth ball! I got mine for £20 on amazon. Feels soooo good and I just have a little bounce whenever I can. You can do lots of different positions on it to get baby into position.

CluelessInLondon · 05/09/2024 18:11

@Sara1988 Mine was still head down yesterday at 36+4 so I think the odds are in my favour that it will stay that way, but it's hard not to think about all the things that might happen to make the birth more complicated, isn't it?!

OP posts:
Sara1988 · 05/09/2024 18:41

@CluelessInLondon 100% I've been so anxious throughout but trying for a bit more positivity now as I get closer. Need that oxytocin.

AppleTree16 · 05/09/2024 19:43

Had been head down here since 26 weeks and remains so at 35 weeks. The end is in sight ladies!!

SuenoNB · 05/09/2024 21:33

Mine was footling breech at my last scan, but due another one next week so really hoping that they have turned or it will likely be a c-section for me. They are wriggling about loads so hoping they know where they need to be.

rachisamumtobe · 06/09/2024 22:22

@CluelessInLondon that's true I still have time!

rachisamumtobe · 06/09/2024 22:23

@Sara1988 oh yes I have been going swimming regularly all summer which is great and just bought myself a ball!
