@peardeer and @Missingpotatocroquettes I hope all goes well with the scans!

It is so nerve-wracking every time, I don't think I'll ever stop worrying no matter how many good scans I have.

I can't believe you can't have your husband there ☹️ seems very unfair for both of you.

WickWood · 19/04/2024 11:36

@Missingpotatocroquettes That's rubbish, i wonder why that's a rule, it's good for you to have support and for him to feel more connected to the baby! X

Missingpotatocroquettes · 19/04/2024 12:43

It was especially hard to be alone today because it wasn't good news. I have anti e antibodies so I now have blood tests every two weeks to check the levels. I'm very confused by it all. I was told to come in if I'm in any kind of small accident and was also given a special card that says I can only receive e- blood. Also talking about early delivery after 25 weeks and it was so much information to take in. I didn't know what questions to ask and now my husband has all these questions that I can't answer.

I'm also very confused as to how I even have this. You can get it through blood transfusions and previous pregnancies but I have had neither.

For right now, the baby is doing fine in there so I guess that's the positive to take away.

WickWood · 19/04/2024 12:58

@Missingpotatocroquettes I'm sorry, that sounds like a really difficult appointment, especially to go through alone. Hopefully someone might be along with some advice/knowledge x

mrssunshinexxx · 19/04/2024 13:05

That sounds like a lot of information @Missingpotatocroquettes I'd be asking them to put basically the crux of it in an email for you. Also next appointment have your husband on the phone so he can hear x

CluelessInLondon · 19/04/2024 13:14

@Missingpotatocroquettes That sounds really difficult and totally understandable that you are feeling a bit overwhelmed and confused - it makes it seem even more unfair that you haven't been able to bring your husband with you to your appointments. When is your next one? Could you sit down with your husband and write a list of detailed questions to take to your next appointment, so that even if he's not with you you can make sure you cover everything?

@HotCrossBunnyInTheOven lovely scan - baby is all curled up.

Seashells4 · 19/04/2024 16:52

Thank you for the new thread! ❤️

Missingpotatocroquettes · 19/04/2024 18:36

@mrssunshinexxx thank you. He did give me some paperwork that has it all the details but it's all in German. He said he could me a translated copy for next time. That is a good idea about the email!

@CluelessInLondon It would have been good to have him there. For the emotional support and also just for another pair of ears to listen to all the information I was given. Next appointment is in two weeks time, they will be every two weeks for the entire pregnancy now apparently. Silver lining is that at least I will be able to see the baby a lot. Physically everything was fine with baby today. It just feels awful that it'll be my body that will be attacking them, if things go wrong. I am going to sit down with my husband and make a list of all the questions we need to ask.

WickWood · 19/04/2024 18:40

@peardeer How did your scan go? X

And a very clear nub! Are you finding out?

peardeer · 19/04/2024 20:10

@AppleTree16 I would love to know! A few people have said clear nub but I have no clue! What do you think it is? X

CluelessInLondon · 19/04/2024 20:18

@peardeer I think it's a girl!

OP posts:
LuxeBiscuit · 19/04/2024 20:24

A bit random. But is anyone avoiding lying on their backs yet? My Pilates instructor won't let me lie on my back in class anymore so I'm thinking I shouldn't at home either.

Google tells me it's from both 16 weeks or 28 weeks?

peardeer · 19/04/2024 20:28

@CluelessInLondon someone else has said this! I would love either but my husband would love a girl 🌈🤍

Bee49 · 19/04/2024 20:39

@peardeer looks very girly to me! How many weeks are you? If you’re 12ish weeks it could still change and move up though. (I only found out this fact a few weeks ago!)

30somethingttc · 19/04/2024 20:41

Congrats @peardeer !!!

I wondered if people had thought about or booked in a antenatal class, I was looking at NCT or bump and baby club but wondered what people thought or if they had any experience with either?
I don’t even know when your meant to book them but I wanted to do it before the spaces go! Quite like to do it to make mum friends in my area.

peardeer · 19/04/2024 20:45

@Bee49 I'm 13+3, I still can't work out where the numb is 😂

Bee49 · 19/04/2024 20:49

@peardeer I’m definitely voting girl! Very inexperience but think it’s here? (Just waiting for someone to tell me I’m all wrong 😂)

@30somethingttc we did NCT first time round and it was worth it for the lovely group on friends we made. It is expensive though and I think they could be a bit broader with what they teach (it would be nice to know how to actually look after a baby!). The breastfeeding session was really great if you plan to do that. I think there’s probably lots of other great cheaper classes which offer the same thing.

30somethingttc · 19/04/2024 20:58

Thanks @Bee49
I am quite drawn to NCT (although you are totally right it is expensive) but it’s where I live where as the bump and baby one is like half the price but in the town over.
So just wanted to see what people thought but what do they teach if it isn’t how to look after them 😅😅

Bee49 · 19/04/2024 21:03

@30somethingttc i think there was 6 sessions? One is about breastfeeding and 1 was about looking after them when they’re born. The rest are about labour and birth. Considering my son was promptly evicted after monitoring for reduced movements and I didn’t even get to the labour part, I didn’t use much of it 😂
I have a really nice group of local friends though. We’re a bit spread out (furthest is 40mins) but at the same time 2 are round the corner. We still meet regularly now and a lot of us are having second babies at the same time.

30somethingttc · 19/04/2024 21:07

@Bee49 oh no 😂 fab that your still friends with them that’s exactly what I’m after!
thank you for your help ☺️ xx

I actually asked about this the other day in the Whatsapp as i want to meet other mums as well! I was surprised with how expensive it was but all the ladies who had done it before seemed to have good experiences so im going to sign up!
