I've been getting period like pains and mild diarrhea... is this a mau call or normal? Have midwife appointment tomorrow and had scan on Wednesday and all was well.

spudnik1 · 08/09/2024 19:46

@Sara1988
It maybe the start of something or it may fade. Have a big drink . Dehydration can set of contractions.

Unless you are nowhere near 37 weeks or there is a reason not to go into labour ie unstable lie. I would just monitor for now
If they get regular then yep give them a ring.

Sara1988 · 08/09/2024 20:02

@spudnik1 I wouldn't say it's contractions.... it's an ongoing period like pain, very low down. It's gone now but lasted about an hour today and an hour yesterday.

WeightoftheWorld · 08/09/2024 20:17

@Sara1988 I had period type pain on and off many evenings for around 3 or 4 weeks before they finally turned into contractions for DC2's labour (he wasnt born until nearly 42 weeks!). So it could be the 'start' but that may still mean weeks and weeks until labour proper. I have also had IBS from the middle of this pregnancy so that could be something or it could also be nothing.

Sara1988 · 08/09/2024 20:19

@WeightoftheWorld OK thank you. Wasn't too worried about it being labour- I'm 36 weeks and baby is a good size- was worried it's something more sinister.

CluelessInLondon · 08/09/2024 20:57

@Sara1988 I've had something really similar today - no diarrhoea but cramping similar to period pain. I spent ages trying to work out if it was Braxton Hicks as I haven't had many of those so far so wasn't really sure. I found it went away after I ate and drank something and lay down for a bit, so assumed it was brought on by dehydration.

Afternoon ladies.

I am beginning to think I may not make it to my planned section date ( 2 weeks and 1 day)
Lower backache for the past few days now it has spread around to the bump. It's a bit like a tight belt. On and off all day.
It's nothing like my contractions last time, though, which gives me hope it's just general aches and pains. But I have a DAU appointment on Friday, so I will be hooked up to the monitor, so I should be able to see if they are contractions.

In other news, not only do I have my flu jab booked in for tomorrow, but my rsv jab is booked in for Tuesday! I genuinely thought I would miss receiving it !

I've been nesting like mad today. Went to hobbycraft and bought one of those craft trolley things. The plan is to fill with baby changing and breastfeeding supplies for the living room. Yes, it's all Instagram fault.

Sara1988 · 11/09/2024 19:57

@spudnik1 I also am concerned about going into labour early. Diarrhea has started today after period like pains at the weekend. I just want to get to 37 weeks on Sunday. Fingers crossed for us both.

I had the rsv on Monday. Had zero side effects! Very pleased with it.

LuxeBiscuit · 11/09/2024 20:21

@spudnik1 I have read lots of accounts of women getting the nesting urge just before going into labour! It may just be braxton hicks and baby is happy in there for a few more weeks.

CluelessInLondon · 11/09/2024 20:24

@spudnik1 Fingers crossed for you that it's just some general aching/Braxton Hicks and the body and baby getting ready and that you can hang on for a bit longer!

I had a total panic yesterday that my waters were leaking - feels like there's a lot going on down there now so it's really hard to distinguish between discharge, pee leaking and anything else. Monitored for a few hours after speaking to triage and it all seemed fine and has been ever since so that's not what it was, thankfully! Really want baby to hang on for a couple more weeks!

I had my flu jab the other day - no side effects other than a bit of a sore arm, which is good. Can't seem to get an RSV vaccination for love nor money where I am though - the maternity team haven't even started vaccinating yet and can't tell me when they're going to, and the nurse at my GP practice said they don't have enough stock to vaccinate pregnant women so they're just doing elderly people. So I'm assuming I'm going to run out of time to have it before baby arrives.

@LuxeBiscuit I even cleaned the windows and made a right mess as I couldn't quite reach.

I am 37 weeks today, I just want to get the rsv vaccine next Tuesday, plus we have an archery competition, which is quite a drive away this weekend 🤔 I am on the fence about going now .

AppleTree16 · 12/09/2024 11:38

Also had the RSV this week and no side effects.
@CluelessInLondon you’d think they would prioritise babies (in utero) over the elderly.

CluelessInLondon · 12/09/2024 15:00

@AppleTree16 That's what I would have thought too, especially where the due date is in the next few weeks - I assume elderly people could just wait until there's more vaccine in stock, I'm kind of on a clock here...!

OP posts:
Sara1988 · 12/09/2024 15:42

I had to drop in at my maternity unit at the hospital but was in and out in 10 mins and told I was the first person she'd given the vaccine too. So strange how much it varies from trust to trust.

Sara1988 · 12/09/2024 15:42

Also, anyone else's baby's movements really hurting them?

rachisamumtobe · 12/09/2024 18:20

@Sara1988 yes! When lying on my side... ouch!

Sara1988 · 12/09/2024 18:25

rachisamumtobe · 12/09/2024 18:20

@Sara1988 yes! When lying on my side... ouch!

There's a certain movement that mine does that's really low in my pelvis where I literally cry out. It's not all the time but when it comes it's horrendous!

WeightoftheWorld · 12/09/2024 21:15

@rachisamumtobe @Sara1988 yep, and I'm only 34 weeks so probably got ages to go so it's just going to get worse! I found movements late in pregnancy to be painful sometimes with my other two but this one is soo much worse because they are back to back. So all their movements are directly out/forwards at all times so it's just relentless! I don't think they will turn over before labour now as they've been back to back for a loong time now without wanting to move. Which is frustrating as I know it can mean a longer labour and higher chance of interventions eurgh. Midwife also said baby is technically now in an oblique position too! Hoping they will have moved properly head down by my next appt in 2 weeks but who knows.

CharlieBalf · 12/09/2024 21:18

So I'm 36 weeks today- baby has been growing exponentially, started on the 50th percentile at 20 weeks and this week was >99th. Had a second GTT test which came back negative for GD.
I'm in so much pain all the time. I can barely move about because baby's head is stuck right down in my pelvis, and is just basically massive. 🙃

I've got a section booked for 39 weeks but another scan on the 25th Sep, by which time I'll be basically 38 weeks. The consultant said if baby is still following an off the chart trajectory then they'll move the section forward but because of my trust only doing ECS on two days a week it will barely be a few days before the planned one anyway.

I'm just very ready for baby to be not in me any more. They've prescribed codine which I don't like taking because it makes baby sleepy. I have DSs 4th birthday a week before section date and we're exchanging on our house sale next week. I'm absolutely shattered. I literally have have two good hours in me then all I'm good for is napping.

Sara1988 · 12/09/2024 21:25

@WhyamInotvomiting hope the baby gets in position for you soon! I hadn't considered the idea baby was back to back. I think mine is kinda side on? I can feel their bum through my bump and it's on the right hand side but then I feel movement and the front like you say.

@CharlieBalf I can relate to them pelvic pressure and size. I feel like my pelvis is going to snap and people keep asking me of I'm sure its not twins... sounds like you have a lot on! At least you know you won't have to go over your due date and have an end in sight.

Bee49 · 12/09/2024 21:33

@CharlieBalf sounds very similar to me. Now in the 90s for centile plus excess fluid. We’re off the chart for head and abdomen size but short legs brings us back into the 90s for weight. Had a second GD test today but other than that the consultant was very unbothered. Doesn’t want to see me again, no further scans, no talk of induction. Very strange how different things can be!
Also very low in my pelvis. My son never dropped but this baby dropped at 33 weeks. My bumps are so different when I compare them.

CharlieBalf · 12/09/2024 21:40

@Bee49 yes we also have a baby with a little femur! (Compared to gigantic head and tum)
My consultant didn't seem concerned at all either...he laughed when I talked about how my other two had been 8lbs 50th percentile and said, ' well this one won't!'
Cheers dude. Way to make me feel good!

rachisamumtobe · 12/09/2024 21:50

@WeightoftheWorld I'm 34 weeks too, when are you due? I have this cramp pain at the bottom of my tummy all the time it's very annoying and sore.. been on my exercise ball and that helps

WeightoftheWorld · 13/09/2024 08:27

@Sara1988 the midwife can tell on palpation if baby is back to back, and they won't be if you can feel their bum. All I can feel is limbs constantly lol it's so uncomfortable. I have an anterior placenta too this time for the first time, can't imagine how painful it would be to have a posterior placenta and a back to back baby because the placenta in theory should be blunting me feeling the movements and yet it's still so uncomfortable!

The app is being janky and won't let me tag you rach but I'm due October 21st. My dates are a week earlier though so I can't imagine being much later than the 21st. Already coming under lots of pressure from midwife and consultant for an earlier induction though due to the low Papp A even though my growth scans are fine. Im thinking of asking to switch consultant tbh.

rachisamumtobe · 13/09/2024 09:03

@WeightoftheWorld due date twin! I have a posterior placenta so feel everything intensely! You could ask to switch if not happy? X
