Does anyone feel like time has slowed down? I'm trying not to wish time away but I can't believe how long there is still left. I think I may have started prepping too early!

WeightoftheWorld · 01/08/2024 21:52

No, @LuxeBiscuit - the opposite here! The months dragged and dragged with having HG. Now I'm well and have sorted absolutely nothing and starting to panic about how little time we have left! There's loads of things we need to do in the house (no big jobs, it's just so tough to find time to do literally anything above normal chores as it is), both of our employers are being super unhelpful with planning for leave, we still have no idea where this baby's clothes are going to be stored...eek.

LuxeBiscuit · 01/08/2024 23:04

@WeightoftheWorld I'm glad to hear you're feeling better.

The nesting instinct kicks in during the third trimester so you'll most probably find the energy and urge to get everything done in record time.

mouldygrapes · 03/08/2024 17:15

Anyone struggling with heartburn, consider speaking to your GP. Ive been prescribed omeprazole now and it's such a game changer. I was waking up with heartburn, not helping the general sleep situation at all and so uncomfortable. Much better now, I don't take it every day but a few times a week is helpful

Sara1988 · 06/08/2024 10:29

Anyone else getting nipple pain again? Had it first trimester and it's reared its ugly head again at 31.

Also cannot get to sleep. Not in pain or uncomfortable just cannot nod off.

CluelessInLondon · 06/08/2024 10:40

@Sara1988 I've definitely noticed more sensitivity in my nipples in the last few days - not painful but just kind of noticing they are there in a way that I wasn't before!

Is anybody else suffering with carpal tunnel syndrome? Apparently it affects 60% of pregnant women but none of my friends who have been pregnant before me have had it! I think the hot weather is making it worse, but the last couple of days have been really uncomfortable for my hands. For most people it goes away soon after the baby is born but that doesn't feel like a lot of consolation right now with nearly 8 weeks still to go... 😖

@CluelessInLondon yes got it in my last pregnancy just at night ( the joys ) had to sleep with my arm propped up on 2 pillows

CluelessInLondon · 06/08/2024 17:19

@mrssunshinexxx It's so difficult to prop my arms up and not squash them whilst also making sure I sleep on my side! I've got some wrist splints which I'm wearing at night and they are definitely helping, I'm not waking up at night so much now, but my fingers feel quite stiff and sore all the time. Doesn't help that one of the worst things for carpal tunnel is working at a computer and that's basically what my entire job involves!

mrssunshinexxx · 06/08/2024 18:18

@CluelessInLondon I know it's a nightmare trying to get comfy sleep is none existent here due to pgp and 4:5 wees a night

AnxiousD · 07/08/2024 10:59

I'm in my 30th week and feeling nauseous. Anyone else?

2doggos · 07/08/2024 11:46

@AnxiousD A little bit for me, generally only in the morning and it passes after 15 mins. Fingers crossed it doesn't get any worse!

CluelessInLondon · 07/08/2024 11:58

Just sharing a special offer in case it's of interest to anyone - John Lewis are doing a deal at the moment where you get their new parent starter kit for free if you spend £120 on baby/nursery stuff: https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-new-parent-starter-kit-box/p112241903. You have to be a My John Lewis member to get the freebie but you can get it if you sign up at the time you place your order. There's so much stuff to get if it's your first time, it did not take me long to get to £120!

My bump is super-itchy today, it's driving me crazy. If I'm at home I just go and put some oil or moisturiser on it which always works to calm it down, but I'm working in the office today so I can't do anything about it until I get home later!

RobynC28 · 07/08/2024 13:22

@AnxiousD my nausea is back sadly but better than it was at the start. I think it's tied in with the heart burn /acid reflux issues I'm having.
@CluelessInLondon this is such a good deal! Annoyingly you can't use it with the 10%-15% offer which works out better for me. I've been trying to add everything i think we need to hit the discount threshold! Has everyone got their pushchairs?

CluelessInLondon · 07/08/2024 13:40

@RobynC28 We weren't able to get the 10-15% discount on baby stuff to work with John Lewis - we ended up deciding we wanted the Oyster travel system which is excluded from the deal, so we went to an independent retailer to get it instead. It doesn't look like John Lewis do a bundle for the Oyster and the car seat that we wanted anyway so I don't feel too annoyed at missing out on the discount! Fortunately there's quite a lot of stuff we want that's eligible for the Amazon baby wish list 15% discount so we can get some money off other things.

spudnik1 · 07/08/2024 15:29

I started an amazon baby wish list and have been dutifully adding to it. I have yet to buy any of it from amazon 🙄 I always seem to find the items cheaper elsewhere , then just delete off the list.

I have done a john lewis order and added the free gift, should come tomorrow so will let you all know what it's like. All the stuff I ordered from john lewis had been on my amazon list but was cheaper at john lewis.

Oooh and I have booked a maternity bra fitting with them for next week to pick up some nursing bras . I should be 33 weeks by then and the consultant was talking about booking my section in for 37 weeks . Eeeek not long to go.......

I just need new mattresses and sheets, and random bits like peppermint tea fybogel silver nipple cups

Yes I’ve been getting it on and off exactly like it was in the first trimester! Also 30th week

Ours is being delivered with the car seat next week!

CluelessInLondon · 07/08/2024 16:17

@JLT24 What did you go for?

Mitsky · 07/08/2024 17:03

Ooo that’s such a good deal at John Lewis and we’ve bought nothing but I have no idea what to order for £120 that would get us the free stuff!

any ideas?

spudnik1 · 07/08/2024 17:11

I bought some cot sheets, a love to dream swaddle, mittens, hats, 3 pack of baby bottles, change mat, lanolin,

CluelessInLondon · 07/08/2024 19:22

@Mitsky Most of my spend was on a couple of Purflo swaddle to sleep bags and a Mam bottle starter kit, then I added on some little bits like some hats, sponges for bath time and a bottle cleaning brush to get up to the £120. I've got some other bits I still want to get like a bath and a Snuz cloud but they are cheaper on Amazon at the moment!

@JLT24 What did you go for?

We have gone for the Mamas and Papas flip XT3 in Ink with the Cybex Cloud T isofix car seat in black. Love how lightweight the pram is but it’s sturdy with good suspension too!

spudnik1 · 08/08/2024 13:12

My john lewis new parent starter kit has come.
Quite good really.
Reusable breast pads which I needed
Nappies and wipes. Although I am planning on using reusable these will.come in handy for the hospital.
Lotions and potions which are quite nice
A bib and a tiny vest.
A bottle, and a toy.

I think the only things I won't use are the dummy's (there are 5 ! ) as DS1 wouldn't take to one last time so not really expecting it to take this time.

Also the perineum oil stuff as I am having a section. If fact managed yo get my date booked in this morning!

Is anyone else having growth scans? I have fibroids so have my first one tomorrow. I'm not sure how regular they are?

CluelessInLondon · 08/08/2024 16:09

@Sara1988 I've got one at 34 weeks - it's booked as a growth scan but really it's to check the position of my placenta and see if it's still low-lying or if it's moved up so I'm only expecting to have one. I might be wrong but I think the frequency depends on the reason for doing them in the first place (I know some people who have had them every 2 weeks to check on the growth of a very small baby).
