@WeightoftheWorld due 11.10 but with planned section probably a little earlier!

We have a 7 seater Skoda Kodiaq which I love. Back seats are usually reserved for dogs or big boot space for the double.buggy and I really don't want to sacrifice that!

Like you, we think we're in the market for 3X new car seats which is a little gauling but worth it if I ca get them all in the back!
I've tried looking online for slimline seats etc but ita SO confusing i end up getting all mixed up. We lice in a pretty rural.part of the country and out nearest baby centre with physical seats you can go look at is over an hour away and even then not by any means extensive.

I can't believe I have 10 weeks left to go. Am already the size of a small house and finding I have to sit down ever few minutes 🙃

Sara1988 · 22/07/2024 12:01

Is anyone else struggling with movements? I'm 29 weeks and I don't really feel like my baby had a pattern. They move plenty but some days seem quieter and I start to panic, then the next they're really active again.

I had a scan a week ago and have another coming up at 32 weeks, so I'm well monitored.

I just seem to see saw between really anxious about the baby and then really anxious I'm being silly!

CluelessInLondon · 22/07/2024 12:13

@Sara1988 I haven't got much of a pattern either and I'm 30+2 today - I've got certain times of day when I do usually feel baby moving so I tend to worry if I don't at those times (usually soon after waking up and when I lie down in bed at night) but in between it still feels pretty random. And sometimes the movements are big kicks, other times it's quite subtle, so I sometimes worry a bit if I haven't felt any of the bigger movements for a while. I'm trying to remind myself that when I went to triage the other week there was absolutely loads of movement going on that I couldn't feel, plus I've got an anterior placenta so I know that will be cushioning and hiding some movements as well. If I didn't tell myself those things I would probably be in triage a couple of times a week!!

RobynC28 · 22/07/2024 12:14

@Sara1988 yes! I've been in tears this morning worrying about the movements and then they started kicking! Couldn't sleep worrying about it last night too.
I had a scan last week too so that was reassuring.
I think it's normal to feel anxious but doesn't make it anymore pleasant!

Sara1988 · 22/07/2024 12:18

@RobynC28 I actually think the anxiety is the worst pregnancy symtom I've had by a mile! It's ruining pregnancy for me. It also don't think it's helpful that there's no hard and fast rules. Like how often, how many, etc.

Sara1988 · 22/07/2024 12:19

@CluelessInLondon I'm off work at the moment for summer holidays so have no routine myself. I wonder I'd that doesn't help cause I have zero pattern.

LSW82 · 22/07/2024 14:06

@Sara1988 I'm 29+5 & only now starting to feel her more, even if it's rolls rather than kicks! Had midwife today who said if you're worried drunk ice cold water, eat something sweet then lie down on left side for about 40mins - hopefully that gets a reaction but if not call hospital! The anxiety is real!!

2doggos · 22/07/2024 14:50

I'm the same! It's definitely the worst part about being pregnant. @CluelessInLondon I think you definitely notice it more when you're not doing anything, I also feel mine when I get in bed at night. Baby also likes the shower too and has a good wiggle round when I'm having one!

SuenoNB · 22/07/2024 17:37

Mine definitely has some days where it is more active and others where it seems a bit quieter. I just think that as long as I feel it moving in some respect, then that is good. It wriggles and turns about so much in there that there must be times where it is facing my back or kicking somewhere that it is harder to feel. That being said, there are definitely some really big movements for me now. Had a growth scan today (28 + 5) and they are measuring pretty big, predicted to already be 3.5lbs! No wonder it feels like I'm being beaten up in there.

RobynC28 · 22/07/2024 17:46

@SuenoNB mine was measuring at 2 pounds 6 ounces at 29 weeks . Small but still in the healthy range! Maybe that's why i don't always feel her plus the anterior placenta! It's tricky as it's sometimes I just get fixated on the movements and struggle to rationalise things.
@Sara1988 I know pregnancy anxiety is awful. I've suffered from it my whole life and been on medication to help manage it before so I'm not suprised I'm being like this! Plus I normally manage it by running/ intense excercise which is off the table. I keep telling myself it's normal to feel like this and I'm trying to look after myself.

rachisamumtobe · 22/07/2024 18:06

@Sara1988 it can be very worrying when they don't move, always best to get checked. I'm also off work for the summer holidays and my routine is out the window lol 😂

LuxeBiscuit · 22/07/2024 19:05

Just checking in! I'm so glad to finally be in the third trimester. Who knew 6 months could feel sooo long.

My movement has definitely changed. I used to feel kicks but had less of those the last few weeks and more squirming, rolling movement. It's now just feeling a body part (leg?) at the top of my bump. I also almost went to triage but as I picked up the phone to call I got a kick. I find if I curl up in the fetal position I get movement. I guess it's squishing my uterus so I only do it if it's been a while.

I think I've been lucky so far as I don't seem to have the pains and aches that some have, yet. But I'm preparing for it so I've tried to get shopping out of the way before getting too big and tired.

@RobynC28 I have ocd and generalised anxiety which seeme to have just focused in on the pregnancy and eased off elsewhere.

@rachisamumtobe it's not that then don't move exactly. It's more there's no pattern to the frequency really. Some quiet days, some crazy days.

WeightoftheWorld · 22/07/2024 21:13

@CharlieBalf we have a Skoda Octavia, which we love because it has a huge boot. 7 seater won't work for us without the boot space and 7 seaters with large boots are rare and out of our budget range. PP on MN recommended me Axkid car seats for being slim and rear facing and also Maxi Cosi Tanza I-size for slim high backed booster.

30somethingttc · 23/07/2024 08:19

I’ve been so worried about movement too!!
somedays feels like it’s none stop and others really chilled. I even had an ice lolly at 7am as mine are both really active in the mornings usually but one day I hadn’t felt them at all.

@LuxeBiscuit I’ve definitely had the same with less obvious kicks but figured maybe they are turned inwards. I spoke to our consultant about it and she said they still have more room than you think for them to get into positions you might not feel.

finding it hard with twins as I keep thinking how do I know what’s one baby and what’s the other.
im distracting myself with getting totally prepared now.
because babies are measuring small I’m preparing for them to potentially come earlier than expected so getting my hospital bag ready in the next few weeks - it feels very exciting and totally surreal!

mand35 · 23/07/2024 08:22

Hello all - new to this website and forum business! I'm due in October 2024 with my first baby. Hope it's ok to join this forum? Thanks!

LuxeBiscuit · 23/07/2024 08:52

@30somethingttc oh I think twins are so, so special - how exciting. But even with the one I can't figure out what's a foot, a hand, a head so it must be even more difficult with a second set.

Are you having regular scans?

rachisamumtobe · 23/07/2024 09:56

@mand35 welcome! How are you?

mand35 · 23/07/2024 10:20

@rachisamumtobe Thank you! Yes I'm good thanks - 28+5 now so progressing nicely! There's a lot to take in as a first time mum to be! How are you?

CluelessInLondon · 23/07/2024 11:36

@Sara1988 I definitely think when your routine changes the baby behaves differently - I had this when I went away on holiday last month, the first couple of days I hardly felt any movement and I think it must have been connected to the fact that I'd been travelling, up and about at times I'd usually be asleep, stuff like that.

@LuxeBiscuit Think I'm similar to you in that I'm getting more "general" kind of movement now and not always things that feel like kicks or pokes. Still getting a few of them (I've taken to saying good morning to the baby when I wake up each day and asking if it's going to give me a good morning wiggle, and this morning it responded with a massive kick 😂) but definitely feeling more squirming/rolling than I did previously.

@mand35 Welcome and congratulations! 😊

30somethingttc · 23/07/2024 12:18

@LuxeBiscuit yes at the moment every 3 weeks but probably every 2 weeks from August. Feeling like I live in the hospital at this point but we are really being taken care off so I’m happy!

got my gestational diabetes test tomorrow. Not looking forward to all the blood tests!

LuxeBiscuit · 23/07/2024 14:05

@30somethingttc I also hate being at the hospital so much but also feel reassured that I'm being looked after.

Bring a book, kindle, iPad for the GD test. It's a long morning.

@CluelessInLondon that's so cute that you talk to the baby. I know it's recommended but I haven't talked to them out loud yet. I'm a chatterbox with people so I'm hoping they know my voice!

mylittleitalianhome · 23/07/2024 14:36

We had our growth scan today! (Not sure whether it’s the same as in the UK, but here you have one around the 30 week mark). We have another big baby (95th %) but all looking good 😊 Seeing the 3D image made it seem very real.

OCTOBER 2024 BABIES - Thread 4
CluelessInLondon · 23/07/2024 14:39

@LuxeBiscuit I'm sure that they will! My baby is probably mostly used to listening to me getting annoyed about work stuff, so I think it's probably necessary for me to talk to it directly in a nice way sometimes. 😂I've been encouraging my husband to talk to the bump as well, which he's just starting to get on board with - think he found it a bit odd to start with, but I keep reminding him that baby can hear him now so it's nice for them to be able to hear his voice as well as mine.

@mylittleitalianhome Great to hear that your latest scan has gone well! In the UK we don't have any routine scans after 20 weeks, additional ones are only offered if there's something specific to monitor - so a lot of people go a very long time without getting another look at their baby, and the next time they see it after 20 weeks is when it's born! I've got another scan at 34 weeks to check on the position of my placenta.

I'm reallt struggling with fatigue and aches and pains the last few days. Napping every day for about two hours! I can't cope with this for another 10 weeks and I'm desperate to keep moving til the end. Anyone else in the same boat?
