Hey all, hope you're all well. After some advice... I've had athlete's foot for the past week. Started with some OTC cream, didn't work so doctor prescribed me with two topical anti fungal creams.(Hydrocortisone and terbinafine).
I have white spots in between my toes and find when I manage to make one go away another 2 will appear in another area. This has been going on a week now and surely is not normal for new spots to appear???
Saw another doc earlier today who says it's completely normal?
Can anybody advise? Thanks!

Sara1988 · 14/07/2024 22:08

@TubbyCustard11 apparently fungal infections are more common during pregnancy. Hormones I imagine. Just keep treating.

Has anyone had the glucose tolerance test? I'm feeling a bit anxious about it, my friend is coming with me. I'm worried I'm going to be diagnosed with diabetes (I'm overweight) and just feeling a bit down about it 🙁

Had mine last Monday. I have high bmi and family history of diabetes and midwife told me today everything was great and my levels were nice and low. I had really worried myself too. Felt horribly sick at the actual test so had convinced myself I had it.

Sara1988 · 15/07/2024 13:20

Just had a very frightening experience at midwife appointment. Midwife couldn't find heartbeat so was rushed into hospital for a scan. Sonographer found heartbeat instantly and I got a bonus growth scan from it! What a roller coaster.

CharlieBalf · 15/07/2024 13:49

@rachisamumtobe I had mine two weeks ago, also high bmi so I was worried but results were absolutely normal.

rachisamumtobe · 15/07/2024 13:50

@Sara1988 ah that's good news you don't have it! X

rachisamumtobe · 15/07/2024 13:51

@CharlieBalf this is encouraging! Xx

rachisamumtobe · 15/07/2024 13:51

@Sara1988 gosh that's a bit of a scare! Glad everything is ok!

CluelessInLondon · 15/07/2024 14:11

@Sara1988 That must have been really scary - so glad you got a scan quickly and all was okay. These babies do like to keep us on our toes!

For those who are on first babies, how is everyone getting on choosing the big stuff like prams, car seats etc? We did the baby appointment thing at John Lewis yesterday and there was so much to talk about, it was quite overwhelming! Really wished I could have a big glass of wine at the end of it. 😂

rachisamumtobe · 15/07/2024 14:19

@CluelessInLondon I want to go to a pram shop to test some more out! Xx

Sara1988 · 15/07/2024 14:54

@CluelessInLondon we got the icandy peach but only as it was a gift. Otherwise would have definitely gone for secondhand/refurbished. We've been given a moses basket and cot and are going to buy the snuz next to you.

RobynC28 · 15/07/2024 15:13

@rachisamumtobe i had it as my health cover offers it for free even though I'm not high risk.
It's honestly fine but the sugar drink is horrible! You'll feel much better after you have it done and it's good you have a friend coming.

@CluelessInLondon we have our jl appointment in August. I've brought pretty much everything second hand but in like new condition from a friend but the pram is the big purchase i need help on! Think we're swaying towards the bugaboo - everyone has one around my area!

I got the cot bed new as it was on sale and my baby carrier new with tags on fb market place. If you know the brands you want worth having a look on fb market place and vinted for new products (if that's what you want!).

CluelessInLondon · 15/07/2024 15:44

@rachisamumtobe I felt quite silly walking around John Lewis pushing prams and trying to work out if I liked them or not.😂Couldn't believe how fiddly some of them were to detach the seat and fold up though, I couldn't get my head round how I would manage it if I'm out with baby on my own!

@RobynC28 I've had my eye on the Oyster travel system for months, but annoyingly they don't stock it in John Lewis stores so I'm going to have to find somewhere else to go and try it out. We think we've chosen our car seat so we want a travel system that's compatible with that, but it feels like such a minefield working out what the best options are!

rachisamumtobe · 15/07/2024 18:15

@CluelessInLondon yeah I think I need to go back and actually have a go at folding them down myself

rachisamumtobe · 15/07/2024 18:22

@RobynC28 thank you, I'll feel relieved once it's over

In this weeks fun pregnancy symptoms I barely slept last night due to leg cramp which I just can’t make go away and then when I did manage to snooze I was woken up at 3 with a nose bleed!

seriously body, get yourself together!

Bee49 · 20/07/2024 19:20

@Mitsky have you tried upping your water? I’m honestly on about 4litres a day at the moment and if I have any less I get awful leg cramps.

CluelessInLondon · 21/07/2024 12:34

@Mitsky Definitely agree with the suggestion to try increasing your water intake - I was getting really bad cramps in my calves overnight on Friday when it was hot and I felt really dehydrated when I woke up the next morning. Drank lots more water yesterday and didn't have the same problem last night.

My new crappy pregnancy thing is that it looks like I've got carpal tunnel syndrome - I've been waking up during the night with numbness/pins and needles in my hands, and the last couple of mornings my hands have been really sore around the knuckles in my fingers. Feels like there's always another thing to prevent me from sleeping, it's as if my body is already preparing for the lack of sleep after baby arrives! Managed to prop my hands up on a pillow to sleep last night, which helped, but last night was probably the first time I've felt really grumpy about the changes to my body during pregnancy.

@Sara1988 I'm so glad to hear everything was OK my heart was racing when I read the 1st bit of your message! Must have been terrifying! Unfortunately I experienced a loss at 7 weeks in 2022. One and only biological pregnancy and I'm sad to say the NHS failed us with that. So genuinely glad yours was a good outcome!

28 weeks today and officially in 3rd trimester now! Though symptoms started a week early. Cramp like I've never cramped before! Extreme fatigue and baby brain, needing to go lie down in bed for a couple of hours during the day but then can't get comfortable. Acid reflux and heartburn. I've definitely run out of room so eating is now challenging and I'm hungry all the time! Lovely strong kicks, twists and turns and hiccups from baby is very reassuring! Turning into a blimp very quickly! When I sit down I can actually feel my internal organs folding around my growing uterus. A very weird sensation! Struggling to lie on my side even with pregnancy pillows as find it uncomfortable so insomnia. Loving my bump which is growing very quickly now.

It feels like I’m constantly attached to glass of water! But will try and drink more. Can’t wait for the bladder side effect 😄

mylittleitalianhome · 21/07/2024 17:17

Sounds like all those fantastic third trimester symptoms are ramping up for everyone! 😅My worst one is extreme fatigue from anemia, despite taking tons of iron. I also find that sitting upright for too long is very uncomfortable, so am bracing myself for a 2-hour flight on Friday with a toddler on my lap…doing it all alone too 🥲 At least the heartburn hasn’t kicked in yet!

CharlieBalf · 21/07/2024 17:47

3rd trimester symptom check: weeing 4X a night 🫠

Definitely feeling a tightness around my belly and like @mylittleitalianhome standing for too long is really achy.

Have kicked hubster out to the spare room as I need more space and im always so hot!

I haven't gotnmy hospital bag ready yet, haven't got anything down from the loft or sorted out how we're going to get three car seats across the backseat yet.

Anyone else in this position? I need 2X rear facing and 1X front facing for a 4 Yr old.

WeightoftheWorld · 21/07/2024 20:35

@CharlieBalf yes exactly the same! When are you due may I ask? I think I'm a little behind you perhaps? Im not confident about fitting them all in the back tbh I can see me getting kicked out to the back unfortunately. What car do you have? There is a user called BertieBotts I think it is and she's a car seat expert, she kindly gave me some great advice about different configurations to try and slim car seats we could try. I'd be willing to buy new car seats if it meant fitting them all in the back, but we definitely won't be getting a different car. Also often peeing twice a night. I didn't usually ever go more than once a night ever in my other pregnancies, I can feel how much more battered my pelvic floor is third time around. Definitely further puts me off the idea of any more.

ToffeeEl · 21/07/2024 20:42

@mylittleitalianhome is it just extra iron supplements you take? Or extra in your diet too? Vitamin c helps with absorption or could you ask for a shot from the midwife? She said that was an option for me if I saw no improvement
