@WeightoftheWorld yeah I got weighed at booking and never again. Ive been monitoring weight cause I started heavier than I would have liked and the world and his wife told me horror stories of how much weight they gained (like 5 plus stone) but 27 weeks now and seemed to have stopped gaining. I'm in a different position to you though, as started heavy!

SuenoNB · 09/07/2024 10:10

I think I sound similar to you @Sara1988 . Started a bit heavier, lost a little bit during the first trimester, but I think all I have put on is baby and boobs! I don't weigh myself at all really, but I certainly don't feel that the rest of my body looks bigger. I guess your body knows what it is doing and as long as you are trying to be healthy (we eat lots of fruits and veggies and, although my exercise has definitely slowed down now) try to at least go for a short walk every day. I'm sure the midwives etc. would weigh us more if it was really important to only gain a certain amount.

Also, that lady on your other thread is horrible! Hope you are ok.

MIW01 · 09/07/2024 18:15

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome 🤗 and I'm quite surprised how many of you are under consultant led care and all the different reasons!

@Bee49 that's good they're going to support you with that. I've also been supported they've said if pool and equipment is available I can labour in water.

@JLT24 I'm sorry to hear you also suffer with ME/CFS and chronic migraine among other unpleasant ailments. I took have noticed my migraines have lessened in pregnancy, thankfully. Though when I do get the odd one it's absolutely crippling because all I can take pain killers wise is paracetamol! So I'm hoping they'll stay away. I'm glad you didn't have any issues conceiving. DH and I have been through hell and back with it and wouldn't wish on our worst enemy!

@WeightoftheWorld I've also decided I don't want an induction if there's no complications like preeclampsia. I don't consider diabetes or a big baby to be good enough reasons to risk having a medical induction though I will be trying way to naturally induce labour myself. The NICE guidelines say something like 40+6 anyway so 38 weeks seems a bit early to me.

@CharlieBalf I'm sorry to hear you also had trouble TTC. It's I describable. I was so close to the edge of ending it all so many times through it, especially when I realised that having a biological child was not going to be possible. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. I'm glad you have finally been able to have your family.

Sara1988 · 09/07/2024 18:15

@SuenoNB thank you! I know. She seems to leave mean comments on any thread that mentions weight which suggests to me she has her own issues!

Has anyone else had any lower abdominal pain/pelvic pain? I don't think it's pelvic girdle pain from what I've read. Really struggling today with it. Doesn't go away but isn't made worse by movement

30somethingttc · 09/07/2024 21:20

@Sara1988
me! I’ve been in so much pain today.
to the point where I got a cab to do a 15 minute walk as I just couldn’t stand walking for another second.
I’ve got a growth scan tomorrow so going to mention it. I’m sure it’s just growing pains but today has been very difficult to move around. Even sitting at my desk felt too much 😂

Sara1988 · 09/07/2024 21:24

@30somethingttc I just never know when to worry and when to ignore! Got midwife on Monday so well speak to her. Hope your growth scan goes well.

Me! Its so painful! I notice it more if ive been sat for a long time or when i get out of bed or the car but it also hurts if i go for a walk and im not even going to consider trying to run anymore. I consider myself to have a high pain threshold but the pain is bad! I asked my midwife about it today as i had an appointment and she said it was normal, its because everything is stretching a lot with growth at the moment unfortunately (but said it was nothing to worry about).

on the weight gain side i have gained 10kg already and im 25 weeks. I feel like i read that normal pregnancy weight gain is usually only 10-12kg?! So im worried about how far over that im going to go! I didnt have any sickness or food aversions in the beginning but i was hammering the junk food and barely working out so ive gained quite a bit of weight quite quickly. I know im growing a baby but its still really depressing to see.

2doggos · 10/07/2024 10:00

@MF94 I know how you feel, I have gained about 8kg and I'm 26 weeks now. A woman who I know who is due around the same date as me has only gained about 3kg so it made me feel really bad that I've gained a lot more but I guess everyone is different. The only food aversions I had was mostly vegetables in the first trimester so I was living off pasta and potatoes. I am eating much healthier now and I'm still going to the gym about 3x a week and walking the dog every day.

Sara1988 · 10/07/2024 16:18

@MF94 mine isn't affected by anything, it's just constant. It's worrying me a bit but I know I'm a hypochondriac! If it makes you feel better I haven't put on weight since 25 weeks... so may slow for you too!

RobynC28 · 10/07/2024 17:54

Just been weighed +6kg at almost 28 weeks . Not sure it's that's good or bad tbh but I've gone from exercising intensely 4 times a week to struggling to walk up stairs and only managing walks so not unexpected!

CluelessInLondon · 12/07/2024 15:30

Eventful evening for me yesterday - baby had a really quiet day and I was starting to get worried so went into triage in the evening to get checked out. Ended up being there for 4 hours (they misplaced my notes so thought I was waiting to see the doctor, who was in surgery, when I was meant to see a midwife who was available!) and of course when they finally hooked me up to the CTG machine baby was leaping around all over the place. It really surprised me how much movement the machine could detect that I still couldn't feel.

Hope everyone is doing well at the moment!

@CluelessInLondon I'm glad baby was okay. Could the midwife tell the position? Maybe your baby is kicking inwards?

I read that babies move about 50 times an hour but we don't feel all of those movements.

LuxeBiscuit · 12/07/2024 20:06

How is everyone doing heading into the third trimester?

I generally feel okay, backache kicks in if I've been out all day though.

rachisamumtobe · 12/07/2024 23:28

@CluelessInLondon glad everything ok xx I had this a few weeks back and just got checked over for peace of mind xx he was ok!

rachisamumtobe · 12/07/2024 23:29

@LuxeBiscuit I'm doing good I've taken up swimming which is good for my health. Can't believe I'm nearly in 3rd trimester, I'm 26 weeks on Monday

30somethingttc · 13/07/2024 06:40

@rachisamumtobe i really want to get into swimming! Need to investigate costs at my local centre!

my boobs have started leaking 🙈
a girl at work freaked me out saying that means the babies will come soon but online it looks totally normal in the second trimester.
anyone else going through the same?
I’m 24+3 xx

RobynC28 · 13/07/2024 07:31

Anyone read any good baby (not pregancy) books?

SuenoNB · 13/07/2024 09:01

I'm getting the positive birth company book as they have a huge sale on. It covers birth and the 4th trimester so will let you know what I think once it's here. My mum's friend (who is a midwife) also recommended Lucy Webber's book and sm for breastfeeding advice so think I will get that one too.

CluelessInLondon · 13/07/2024 14:12

@LuxeBiscuit They didn't tell me what position baby was in at the time - they did initial obs and listened to the heartbeat, then I waited ages for the CTG so baby had been moving around by the time they finally called me back in!

@rachisamumtobe I'm glad I went in, it was a long evening but they were very reassuring and just told me to come back if I'm ever worried about anything. You don't want to overreact or waste anybody's time so it's nice to be taken seriously even when everything is fine.

@RobynC28 I haven't read it yet but I've bought The Modern Midwife's Guide to the First Year - I read her other book on pregnancy and birth and found it really useful (will definitely be re-reading parts of it in September to help prepare!). One of my friends has recommended The Wonder Weeks although I haven't had a look at that one yet.

I can't get over how all over the place the kicks are. Really can't work out where the baby is as sometimes the kicks are down low, sometimes high, left side, right side, all over the place!

LuxeBiscuit · 13/07/2024 17:17

@RobynC28 I've also read the Modern Midwife's guide to pregnancy / birth so will read the first year's one next. It was an east read.

@rachisamumtobe oh swimming will be great once the bump gets bigger. Think of the weightlessness.

@CluelessInLondon it's Sod's Law that the baby will start moving once you get to triage! It happened to me. A kick so hard even the midwife felt it.

Bee49 · 13/07/2024 17:48

@30somethingttc totally normal. Mine started from pretty much as soon as I got pregnant. (I only stopped breastfeeding in November/December though so that’s probably why it was so early!)

30somethingttc · 13/07/2024 21:29

@Bee49
thank you!
I’ve treated myself to some pads .. the glamour 😅😅

rachisamumtobe · 14/07/2024 12:03

@30somethingttc I'd highly recommend it, I have a good stretch and work out and feel much better mentally too

rachisamumtobe · 14/07/2024 12:04

@LuxeBiscuit yes exactly! X
