There's no normal with sizes so many things could factor! I'm nearly the same size now at 22w than I was at 30w last time 😅 you get comments no matter what I think, my mother says it feels weird and uncomfortable when people say stuff, but it's just that people love babies and pregnancies.

My sickness is back with a vengeance today, been non stop and I thought was all clear

Has everyone sorted their maternity leave yet? What have you got planned

LuxeBiscuit · 29/06/2024 22:09

@spudnik1 I'm glad the monitoring went well.

Sara1988 · 30/06/2024 15:10

Is anyone planning home birth?

spudnik1 · 30/06/2024 18:16

Not gone as well today. Baby is fine , unfortunately they have diagnosed me as having pre eclampsia. Extra monitoring every week.
It's classed as mild at the moment so it's wait and see.

RobynC28 · 01/07/2024 10:34

@CluelessInLondon this was me when i was away on my babymoon ! It was a very long flight and a 9 hour time difference. I could barely feel her a few days and I was panicking but i do really think she must have had jet lag as she became more active after a few days!

Sorry to hear that, how stressful but lucky you went in and they were able to diagnose you so quickly.

Sara1988 · 01/07/2024 19:50

Does anyone know when we have to hand our mat b form in? I've mislaid mine and the gp is being really awkward about it.

spudnik1 · 02/07/2024 07:03

@Sara1988 I think it is 25 weeks ?

Oh I hope not! I'm already 26 and gp has said they can't do anything until I see midwife at 28

I am pretty sure its by 25 weeks.

You can call the midwifes office and get the form by 20 weeks (this is what i did otherwise i was waiting until 28 weeks) so i just called up and the next day went to collect it.

I would get it in ASAP.

LSW82 · 02/07/2024 13:03

@Sara1988 I'm sure my work wanted it by 25 weeks aswell - I got it at 20wk scan so just sent in early but I'm sure I remember seeing 25wks on an email!

LuxeBiscuit · 02/07/2024 13:35

I could be wrong but I think you need to notify work that you're pregnant and when you want to start mat leave 15 weeks before your due date (so 25 weeks) so that you're entitled to mat leave. But the MATB1 form can be handed in later. The form is to ensure you receive SMP.

Sara1988 · 02/07/2024 14:20

OK thanks all. I notified them ages ago so hopefully they csn wait a couple of weeks for mat b1. I can't believe how awkward gp is being

CluelessInLondon · 03/07/2024 06:27

@Sara1988 Definitely a hospital birth for me, I want to be where the drugs and doctors are! I also just really have no desire to give birth in my house - I know some people have amazing home birth experiences but I just find the idea a bit weird!
My understanding of the MATB1 is the same as @LuxeBiscuit - you need to have told work by 25 weeks that you are planning to take mat leave and when your due date is, but it's not actually essential to hand the form in then. I only got mine at my 25 week midwife appointment and went on holiday the same day so I'll be at least 28 weeks before I can give mine to work. My midwife was very funny about the form as well, telling me that I only get one and it's very important not to lose it!! So now I'm paranoid it'll go walkabout before I can give it to work...

@spudnik1 Sorry to hear about the pre-eclampsia, fingers crossed that it stays mild and the extra monitoring keeps on top of it.

@RobynC28 The anxiety is awful isn't it - I spent the first two days of my holiday feeling horribly guilty for going away even though we really needed a break. I think it just feels like a lot of pressure - for everything to go right but also for me to notice quickly if something is wrong. Nobody else can do that so it feels like massive responsibility! Baby has had another couple of quieter days this week which always makes me worry, but this morning my husband said it was kicking away during the night and I was sound asleep throughout!

@spudnik1@spudnik1 sorry to hear that but good they caught it early and you can get all the extra support you may need!
@CluelessInLondon yes same i felt like maybe the trip was a mistake and felt so guilty but it was fab and I had a midwife appointment the day after I got back and heard her heartbeat so she's fine and I'm sure you will be too!

Anyone else feel like they are slowing down? I tried to go for a slow run the other day and I literally couldn't get my legs to move fast! I think third trimester slow down is definitely on the way!

MIW01 · 06/07/2024 17:15

Hello everyone, I'm a bit late to the party joining this thread. I'm 26 weeks pregnant tomorrow with baby no.1 due on 13th October. We had to use a donor egg to achieve this pregnancy after 6 years of TTC. I'm currently 38 and have a shopping list worth of medical conditions:
Diabeties type 2
Chronic hypertension
Chronic migraine
ME/CFS
Fibromyalgia
Endometriosis
Are just a few. I'm taking 150mg aspirin daily to reduce preeclampsia risk and 300mg Labetalol for blood pressure as well as insulin and Metformin for diabetes and antidepressants.

All of the above means I'm a high risk pregnancy so under consultant led care. I plan to deliver in hospital but I am hoping to be able to labour at home and in a pool when at hospital. I have told my team I would prefer not the induced and go to term if all is looking well but I have made contingency plans.

Is there anyone else considered high risk or under consultant led care? I'm feeling great and no issues at the moment all is well.

Bee49 · 06/07/2024 18:01

@MIW01 yes I’m classed as high risk and under a consultant due to my medical condition/ medication plus my previous birth. I think it’s actually fairly common so I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m also hoping to labour at home as long as possible before going into hospital. Due to hopefully being a VBAC I’ll need continuous monitoring when I go in although I have been told I can still use the pool if the mobile monitor is available.
Also feeling good and planning to continue working out and working until 39/40 weeks like I did last time. I think it’s a great sign you feel good!

WeightoftheWorld · 06/07/2024 20:04

@MIW01 hi, welcome. I think quite a few of us are consultant led. I am, but just because I have low papp-A. I'm almost 25 weeks, but I don't have a consultant appointment for a few more weeks. I think all that appointment is for is to book me for an induction around the 40 week mark and send me on my merry way. However, I'm going to decline that in the absence of any other complications arising, so not sure what the plan will be in that case.

CharlieBalf · 06/07/2024 21:15

@MIW01 welcome and congratulations!
I'm also consultant led classed as high risk, mostly due to age (40) and previous complications during labour and birth. Baby #1 was ivf after 7 years of ttc so I understand the joy/fear of finally being pregnant.

I'll be scheduled section at 38 weeks with #3 sometime at the start of October.

Welcome to the group. I also have ME/CFS and chronic migraine along with POTS, Interstitial Cystitis and IBS. Due to this I’m consultant led. I’ve been booked in to have a c section at 39 weeks. This was agreed along with the consultant as I feel it gives me more control over giving birth and around my symptoms.

I’ve been feeling quite well during pregnancy (only in the past few weeks I’ve had quite bad pelvic and back pain) except I’ve had several flare ups of IC, but my ME/CFS has remained mild which is the same as it was prior to becoming pregnant (I have been more moderate/severe in the past
and I still have to manage it very carefully!) and my chronic migraine has virtually disappeared even though once we were TTC I had to come off the medication I was taking for it.

I’m 39 having my first baby, I’ve been unwell for 7 years and it was only in the past year I felt well enough to consider it. Luckily I fell pregnant quickly.

I’m feeling very apprehensive about managing my health with a baby. How are you feeling about it all?

Sara1988 · 07/07/2024 20:31

27 weeks today! Has anyone stopped putting on weight? Have been steadily gaining weight but nothing for past two weeks.

RobynC28 · 08/07/2024 10:11

@Sara1988 I have no idea as i don't own scales!

I'm getting weighed on weds though so we'll see! I think it's a bit of a scale depending on your starting weight. My bmi was on the low side before so I think(hope) that means I have a bit more leeway to gain a few more pounds (which I'm sure I have!)

Is this something I should be monitoring? They only weighed me in my first midwife appointment.

Sara1988 · 08/07/2024 10:24

@RobynC28 I think if your bmi is lower your body stores a bit more fat so you might put on a bit more. Higher bmi you obviously already have the fat ready (unless you have a high bmi due to high muscle.)

CluelessInLondon · 08/07/2024 10:51

I haven't weighed myself since finding out I was pregnant - I figure there are enough things to be stressing myself out about, without worrying about whether I'm putting on the right/wrong amount of weight! And having just been on holiday for 2 weeks I think it's fair to say I have definitely put some weight on recently. 😂

@MIW01 Welcome and congratulations! 😊

WeightoftheWorld · 08/07/2024 18:03

I have definitely put on weight, and more than in my previous two pregnancies, partly because I actually started gaining in the first trimester as this is the mildest version of HG I've ever had. I lost a significant amount of weight in the first trimester with DC1 and only just about maintained my weight with DC2. My booking BMI was just under 20 though so I'm hoping if I continue to try to eat reasonably sensibly that I won't put on too much. I haven't weighed myself for ages though and I'm not going to as I don't want to wind myself up. I don't remember ever being weighed at any other antenatal appointments during either of my previous two pregnancies.
