@Sara1988 no, the uterine artery doppler scan is just for people with certain specific risk factors that can affect placental function and therefore sometimes lead to growth problems in the baby. I have low papp A so that's why I'm having one.

LuxeBiscuit · 19/06/2024 21:55

Oh yes, I'm considered high risk so that might be why they did the Doppler at the 20 week scan.

spudnik1 · 20/06/2024 07:14

I had the doppler because I have high blood pressure.
When they found the notching I had to go straight back to the consultants surgery the next morning and wait to be shoe horned in to an appointment. They then scheduled me in for 3 weekly scans from 28 weeks. They were adamant about taking the asprin daily , thankfully I was already taking it had been since 12 weeks.

Sara1988 · 20/06/2024 20:55

@LuxeBiscuit I'm high risk but I guess not for this? Hope everything goes OK for you @spudnik1

Baby is moving like crazy now! Feels like it's doing cartwheels in my tummy!

30somethingttc · 24/06/2024 05:35

Morning!
hope everyone is doing ok!
anyone else experiencing cramp in the night?
Waking up so uncomfortable in my left leg and my right shoulder/arm! Which is making sleep a bit difficult.
it feels mad to think I’ve still got like 15 weeks left of being pregnant. Feels so soon but so long away all at the same time.
have a great week!

spudnik1 · 24/06/2024 06:04

@30somethingttc
I had it in my left calf last week. I was rolling round the bed like an injured footballer 🤣
Then I got cravings for bananas on toast and haven't had it since ( touch wood)

mrssunshinexxx · 24/06/2024 06:35

@30somethingttc not yet but had it every morning first thing in third tri with both - agony !

Yep! Although I did stretches before bed last night and didn’t have any whereas the previous two nights it’s been horrific so hopefully that helped!

Bananas and magnesium cream/spray are your friends!!

the pregnancy insomnia has really kicked in here. I don’t remember it starting this early last time. 😰

Sara1988 · 24/06/2024 08:43

Finally caved to my anxiety and called midwife about movement at the weekend. Everything was fine and she was so so nice about it.

Got my 25 weeks meeting today.

I've not had cramps myself. Something new to look forward to! But aren't leg cramps link to dehydration? Could be the heat?

Bee49 · 24/06/2024 18:53

@30somethingttc I have a banana daily, take electrolytes and magnesium but it still wasn’t cutting it. I upped my water intake and my ramp has completely gone.

30somethingttc · 25/06/2024 05:37

Thank you everyone!
will be adding daily banana to my diet☺️
and more water! Although at this point I feel like I’ll be permanently stuck to the loo 😂

Glad everything was fine @Sara1988 🩷

I feel like I get over a hurdle of one source of anxiety - 12 week scan, 20 week scan etc and then when that hurdles behind you something new like movement or getting to a place where the babies can be viable after 24 weeks etc pops up for it to grab onto.
sometimes I wonder if I’ll get to enjoy the pregnancy at all!

Sara1988 · 27/06/2024 21:03

Has anyone else had comments about how 'massive' they are?

At a family event today and about 6 different people asked if I'm sure I'm not having twins.

I'm 26 weeks first baby, so I don't really know what's normal. I'm worried because I thought the last trimester you really grow, genuinely worried ill be immobile.

LuxeBiscuit · 27/06/2024 21:22

@Sara1988 have you had your 25 week midwife appointment? As long as the midwife is happy with your growth that's all that matters. Ignore comments - I find pregnancy is the one medical thing that happens to you that makes people think they have a right to constantly comment.

I've been wearing loose clothes so nobody that I haven't told in my life or at work knows. It's lovely.

Wasn't measured at 25 week appointment (nor was friend so don't know if this is a thing in our trust?)

I have absolutely no chance of hiding this bump. Loose clothes or not.

30somethingttc · 28/06/2024 01:12

@Sara1988 im getting the same - but about how small I look - and I am having twins!! I also don’t feel like my bump is small.
you look so much smaller than I thought you would be - I looked bigger than you with just one baby blah blah blah.
I find it soooooo annoying as both mine are small for gestational age so really feeds my anxiety.
I try and just say, well every pregnancy is different and I’m the right size for me.
@LuxeBiscuit is right - definitely gives people the impression in pregnancy that they can say or offer any advice they want 🙃🙃🙃

spudnik1 · 28/06/2024 20:08

Well, it's been an eventful afternoon.

Have been feeling a bit off all day, but I was worrying about the baby not moving as much as normal. So after a couple of hours of dithering, I eventually phoned triage and was told to go in.

Thank god I did ! Baby is fine kicking at my anterior placenta hence the not feeling kicks. But my bp has jumped from 118/73 on monday at the 25-week midwife appointment. To 138/89 today with protein ++ whereas on monday, I had no protein.

Normal practice is to scan the baby within 24 hours, but it's the weekend, so there are no scans. So, as a compromise, I have to go back to triage tomorrow for monitoring and again on Sunday. Then monday I have the scan and then back on Tuesday for bp monitoring.
I think I will spend the weekend resting. Hopefully, it is a blip.

Sara1988 · 28/06/2024 20:43

@30somethingttc it's crazy how pregnancy seems to make people think they have permission to say whatever they want about your body. And even touch it!

@spudnik1 hope everything goes well with scan. Sorry they can't scan you sooner but good that you're being monitored.

CharlieBalf · 28/06/2024 21:25

Bit concerned as.i haven't had a 25 week midwife appointment. I checked badger notes and my next app is a scan at 32 wks and an anti d injection at 28 wks which states i should also see my midwife for a check up but have had no appointments through! Feeling a bit forgotten about tbh!

LuxeBiscuit · 28/06/2024 21:55

@Sara1988 every trust is different but at my trust, for first babies you have a face to face midwife appointment at 25, 28, 31, 34, 36 and 38 weeks. That's standard, not because I'm high risk. I did read that some trusts start measuring and checking the Doppler at 28 weeks but mine starts at 25.

Just checked my notes and only first times mum's have the 25 and 31 week appointments.

@CharlieBalf I'd check with your midwife as it might be an admin error.

RobynC28 · 29/06/2024 04:32

Yeah the commenting on size is so odd! I'm quite slim and tall so i didn't think I'd be as big as i am but everyone is different - you're right.

I actually quite like having a big bump as I've always been self conscious of my stomach and now i can wear tight clothes and not suck in!

@spudnik1 ah that's stressful for you! Luckily you went in when you did and glad to hear baby is still kicking away.

Anyone else started shopping? I've found a few clothing bits in the sale but feeling overwhelmed!

CluelessInLondon · 29/06/2024 08:13

@Sara1988 I haven't had any comments on my size (apart from at my last midwife appointment when she hadn't checked my notes and asked if I was there for my 28 or 31 week appointment 🙈 but I was wearing quite a bump-emphasising top that day!) but would find it so annoying if anybody had anything to say about it. Ignore them if you can - everyone grows differently in pregnancy and size of bump doesn't really mean much in terms of size of baby, or even how many babies are in there!

@spudnik1 Hope all is okay with the monitoring this weekend and the scan on Monday.

@CharlieBalf My appointment schedule is the same as @LuxeBiscuit with some of them only being for first babies (I think you have at least one already so you might not have all of the appointments?) - there is quite a good list on the NHS website of the appointments you should have and which ones are for everyone or only first time mums. Probably worth checking in with your midwife team in case they've missed booking one.

I'm away on babymoon at the moment - spent the first two days stressing about reduced movements to the point I was ready to go and find a hospital, then since Monday baby has been bouncing around all over the place. I'm wondering if the change to my rhythms from travelling might have just had an effect on when baby was active and what they were doing, but that's total guesswork!

LuxeBiscuit · 29/06/2024 10:42

@CluelessInLondon I hope you're having a great time. They say that a movement pattern usually forms. If you're in a different time zone perhaps your baby is still on London time so you're not feeling them move at the time you'd expect if you were home?

This baby has no pattern. If there's no movement I assume they're napping which only lasts for about an hour. But when they're awake, it's almost constant movement. I tried counting kicks and got to 10 within about 6 minutes. Although it's reassuring it does make me panic slightly when there's no movement for over an hour because I'm so used to it being constant now.

WeightoftheWorld · 29/06/2024 11:41

@LuxeBiscuit none of my babies have ever had movement patterns tbh other than usually kicking off when I want to go to sleep!

Yes, ignore any comments on size, people are so inconsiderate about commenting on pregnant women's bodies! I'm getting a lot about how tiny I am, except I'm really not! I was with DC1 which is pretty common but last time and this time have been much bigger much earlier which again is common. I just try and change the subject really.

spudnik1 · 29/06/2024 13:05

Thank you, ladies.
Monitoring went well. Baby is fine kicking away. Bp dropped slightly 130/88 but still have 2+ protein. I'm back again tomorrow.
I have done nothing all morning, just relaxed.
