On the subject of 20 week scans, we had ours and both babies have small AC measurements like ones even off the chart low, we’ve been referred to fetal medicine for follow up but I’m really worried. Anyone experienced the same?

Sara1988 · 14/06/2024 06:43

@mrssunshinexxx I had it but it really has passed now. Like I barely know I'm pregnant (apart from the kicks) and I'm 24 weeks

mrssunshinexxx · 14/06/2024 06:59

@Sara1988 oh wow how long did yours last ?

mrssunshinexxx · 14/06/2024 07:00

@30somethingttc sorry if really ignorant but isit not common for twins to be much smaller than a single pregnancy? I was referred to FM with my first pregnancy for abnormalities ( she only has one kidney) they were very supportive and informative it was during lockdown so couldn't have my husband either x

Sara1988 · 14/06/2024 07:04

@mrssunshinexxx it felt like weeks but I was getting all sorts it pains in my tummy and pelvic area. Cramps, round ligament, stomach ache, till about 22 weeks and now just feel completely fine

30somethingttc · 14/06/2024 08:13

@mrssunshinexxx not ignorant at all!!
from what I have read they grow at the same rate as a singleton until like 30 something weeks and then they start to run out of space!
they are just measuring quite behind on their AC measurement. Where as for example their HC was in a normal range.
we were both a bit taken back as we had thought the scan had gone well from her comments so we literally asked zero questions, which I’m kicking myself for now as I’m struggling to fine out what it all means!
just got to be patient I suppose and wait til Tuesday!

30somethingttc · 14/06/2024 08:18

@mrssunshinexxx hope your daughter is doing ok! Must have been a bit hard doing the appointments by yourself in lockdown!!

mrssunshinexxx · 14/06/2024 08:30

Thank you @30somethingttc she manages fine and hopefully shouldn't affect her in her life. It's definitely a worry but hopefully in 3/4 days you'll get peace of mind x

LuxeBiscuit · 14/06/2024 08:54

@SuenoNB @Sara1988 ok thanks. I don't think that's what I'm experiencing.

@30somethingttc I also had an anomaly identified and was referred to fetal medicine - I'm waiting for an update. I would suggest writing all your questions in your phone as the stress and anxiety made me forgot to ask. Fingers crossed it all goes well for you.

30somethingttc · 14/06/2024 09:05

@LuxeBiscuit thank you. That’s a good idea. I totally blanked this time around.
hope you get your update asap!

@mrssunshinexxx ahh that’s great to hear! Thank you.

Anyone else got a baby that barely moves in the mornings? I have a pattern of freak out all morning, get ready to call mau, suddenly movement picks up about midday. Anyone else?

spudnik1 · 16/06/2024 11:25

@Sara1988
Mine has a nap every afternoon from 12 till 3 pm ! I go through the panic every afternoon. Then every evening when it's kicking away, I feel daft as .

Oct24 · 16/06/2024 11:45

@Sara1988 My little man is always more active in the evenings. He usually has a good stretch around 2pm and then gradually gets more active as the afternoon wears on and turns to evenings.

RobynC28 · 16/06/2024 12:55

Mine's movements are completely irregular. I'm suprised to hear so many of you have patterns you can recognise (and envious!)

I think being on holiday with a 8 hour time difference hasn't helped. I've almost been in tears 3 times in the past week as i haven't felt her for literally hours then i feel a small kick. But each day differs. I wonder if having an anterior placenta has something to do with it? I only felt her for the first time at almost 21 weeks.

I'm going to speak to my midwife about this when I've got my appointment when I'm back as I can't carry on with this level of anxiety around her movements. I need a clearer idea of what's 'normal' (although I know everyone is different) and when to actually be concerned.

For me this peroid has been the most anxious of pregnancy yet as I feel it's on me to notice the kicks and check for issues. Anyone else a mess??

CluelessInLondon · 16/06/2024 14:50

@Sara1988 Mine seems to move first thing in the morning then I hardly feel anything until after lunch - I'm usually getting to the brink of being worried and then baby starts bouncing around again. I'm also not sure how much I'm just not noticing while I'm doing other things.

@RobynC28 Anterior placenta will definitely be making it more difficult for you to feel movement - I have an anterior placenta as well and although I felt my first movement at just over 19 weeks it's only been since 24 weeks that I could confidently say I've felt something every day - and even then sometimes it's just really light flutters rather than any proper kicks.
Definitely with you on feeling anxious - I'm definitely more on edge than I thought I would be by this point. I don't know how much of it is connected to having a past loss and how much is just that there's a lot to think about and there's always something to worry about. Always call your midwife or triage if there's something you're concerned about though - they would definitely rather hear from you and it turns out everything is fine than you just sit and worry.

@RobynC28 I didn't feel mine until 22 weeks and i don't have interior placenta! Now that I can feel them I'm in a constant state of anxiety. I've been told though until 26 weeks it will be all over the place, which I try to remind myself of.

WeightoftheWorld · 16/06/2024 17:32

@RobynC28 I never had a distinct pattern of movement with either of my two children. The only general point was that usually I'd be more conscious of feeling movement in the evenings and when I was going to bed, but that was obviously more that I was laying about inactive and not concentrating on important things so it was more obvious I had movement. I have an anterior placenta this time for the first time and I can tell the difference a little already, because I felt movement later this time than with DC2.

Sara1988 · 16/06/2024 17:51

@CluelessInLondon I'm 24 weeks today and although I am feeling light kicks every few hours it feels reduced compared to last few days and I'm freaking out.

30somethingttc · 16/06/2024 18:38

@spudnik1 @mrssunshinexxx
random one, but when away did you check with meals about cheese/milk/yoghurt being pasteurised? I’ve never been on holiday pregnant before and going to Greece. I’m thinking the main hotel will probably be but I wondered about local restaurants etc
thinking like yoghurt dips, halloumi, feta etc!

cm3212 · 16/06/2024 19:32

@30somethingttc I have just got back from Greece & everything I checked was pasteurised. After the first week I relaxed a little more/less stressing over it and I'm fine 😊

Everything was pasteurised as it would be here xx

mrssunshinexxx · 16/06/2024 20:06

@30somethingttc no I won't be checking I'm pretty laid back 😂 maybe too much

30somethingttc · 16/06/2024 21:35

@mrssunshinexxx @cm3212
thank you! I reallyyyyy want to enjoy the holiday and by that I mean the food 😂

cm3212 · 16/06/2024 21:58

@30somethingttc you'll definitely be able to! I did and I did relax once I was a few days in .. as long as you're not eating anything bizarre 😅 you'll be fine! X

LuxeBiscuit · 17/06/2024 00:20

For everyone worried about movement, the advice is to call the midwife or go straight to triage.

I had this today. I've been feeling quite strong movement for about 5 weeks now and it was significantly reduced over the last 24 hrs. I called triage and they said to pop in. The midwife found the baby's heartbeat in 1.5 seconds and while she was checking I got a kick so strong that it made me jump and she also felt it. I did feel slightly dramatic but still glad I went in as I don't think I'd sleep if the reduced movement continued.

spudnik1 · 17/06/2024 07:14

@30somethingttc

I have a dairy allergy. So didn't have to worry about pasteurised products.
To be fair I didn't even think about what food I could/ couldn't eat. I just ate everything 😁
