Well jet 2 . Wasn't asked on way out, but was asked on way back ! But to be fair my belly seems to have grown exponentially. Think it's the sun !😁

mrssunshinexxx · 04/06/2024 18:01

Did you have a fit to fly @spudnik1

RobynC28 · 04/06/2024 18:22

My GP was charging £120 for the letter and said it would take a month! I got a private one in an hour which cost £40.
I managed to hide my bump a few weeks ago but I'm flying 12 hours this time so I don't want to risk it!

mrssunshinexxx · 04/06/2024 18:23

@RobynC28 really?! My midwife doing it for free and I don't even need one as will only be 23 weeks but just want one for piece of mind

RobynC28 · 04/06/2024 18:26

@mrssunshinexxx my midwife wouldn't do them before 27 weeks. I'll be 23 weeks on the way and 25 weeks on the way home.
My airline said I needed a letter at any point (BA). I know £120 is ridiculous isn't it but didn't want to risk being stranded!!

CluelessInLondon · 04/06/2024 18:40

@RobynC28 £120 for a fit to fly letter! That's crazy! 😮I'm flying back from holiday in a few weeks' time just on the threshold of when my airline (Emirates) needs a doctor's note so I'm intending to get one just to be on the safe side - haven't asked my GP practice yet but am going to pop in and ask tomorrow morning when I'm nearby. Now wondering if they are going to tell me it's some crazy amount of money!

I've got my first nursery tour tomorrow morning - feels completely insane to be looking around a nursery for a baby that hasn't been born yet, but it's already fully booked until September next year so we can't wait until baby has arrived to do it!

RobynC28 · 04/06/2024 19:06

@CluelessInLondon I know! They said as they are an NHS doctor they are very busy so have to charge for it, which I completly understand, but £120 seems excessive. My £40 note was with zoom doc if you need that!

That's exciting - hope you like the nursery!

Sara1988 · 04/06/2024 19:22

I'm driving myself mad worrying about movements. I'm 22 weeks so it's normal for them to be quite sporadic right?

WickWood · 04/06/2024 19:32

@Sara1988 Absolutely! I get how worrying it is because I'm the same, but 100% normal to be sporadic at this point x

spudnik1 · 04/06/2024 19:58

@mrssunshinexxx yes I did have a fit to fly . Thankfully I got one off the gp

CluelessInLondon · 04/06/2024 20:31

@Sara1988 I've been the same for ages now - I felt my first little movements at 19+1, I'm now 23+3 and they are still a long way from being consistent, some days baby is dancing away in there and others it's very quiet. It is very anxiety-provoking, you kind of think there'll be less to worry about once you start feeling movements, but it turns out it's just another thing to stress over. Everything I have read suggests they can stay pretty irregular until you get to 25-26 weeks.

OP posts:
Sara1988 · 04/06/2024 20:38

@WickWood @CluelessInLondon thanks both. I didn't realise how anxiety enducing pregnancy would be!

mrssunshinexxx · 04/06/2024 20:51

@spudnik1 did you have to show it or did you try saying you were only 20ish weeks? X

spudnik1 · 04/06/2024 20:54

@mrssunshinexxx
She asked me how far along I was . I said 22 weeks. She asked if I had a fit to fly I said yes and pulled it out, but she barely glanced at it. Then took my passport somewhere I am assuming to put a note on it ?
I could have just pulled out any old piece of paper but was so glad I had made the effort to get a fit to fly

WeightoftheWorld · 04/06/2024 21:04

I've never had a regular pattern of movement with either of my previous two children. The only thing that was fairly consistent is that I'd usually feel them when I was trying to go to sleep at night, as babies are notorious for waiting until you lay down to wake up and become lively! Otherwise through the day etc there were no patterns, movement was just random.

mrssunshinexxx · 04/06/2024 21:14

Thanks @spudnik1 my midwife is doing me one just to be safe

Melian · 05/06/2024 03:17

@spudnik1 @mrssunshinexxx @CluelessInLondon Quick question regarding the fit to fly letter; I just had part one of my 20 week scan on Monday (I need to go back to another clinic because the equipment was subpar and the dconsultant couldn't take the measurements properly) and the Dr gave me the template for the fit to fly letter, as I'll need one to fly back to Europe from Asia (16 hours) in July. I'll be 28 weeks by then (or actually 27+6), so hopefully not yet enormous, but yet she is put in the letter that I should be in a wheelchair!? Do you know if it's standard? It feels a little over the top...

30somethingttc · 05/06/2024 06:07

Also on the subjects of holiday, I’m going away in 3 weeks to Greece (booked pre pregancy) but the weather is 37/38 and I’m kinda freaking out!!! I’ll do all the obvious of stay in the shade, stay hydrated etc but I don’t fair well in very hot weather at the best of times let alone pregnant with twins.
im worried I just won’t enjoy myself. I thought it would be like 30 degrees max!

Sara1988 · 05/06/2024 07:03

@WeightoftheWorld my worry is more that they were quite forceful the other day and are now little flutters 😔 I had to have local anesthetic yesterday too which I think has made me paranoid

Bee49 · 05/06/2024 10:05

@Melian I would have thought walking through the airport was a better idea as it’ll get blood flowing again! Appreciate everyone is different but I wouldn’t have struggled walking round an airport at 28 weeks last time. I’d just tell them you don’t want/ need a wheelchair when you get there. You might not even get asked for the letter so it might not be an issue!

@Sara1988 local anaesthetic is absolutely fine in pregnancy so please don’t worry about that. Saying that if you’re worried about movement I’d go and get checked at the hospital. It’s very early still and movements won’t be regular yet but they’d much rather you went in if you’re worried. It’ll put your mind to rest too!

cm3212 · 05/06/2024 10:33

@spudnik1 thank you for the Jet2 update, wasnt asked on the way out and I didn't get a fit to fly. Hoping will be ok on way back but my belly seems to have popped. Might try get one online just in case!

CluelessInLondon · 05/06/2024 11:12

@Melian I haven't got my fit to fly yet, but I'm definitely not expecting it to say I need to be in a wheelchair - that sounds very excessive unless there's some other health condition that might affect you. But you could just say no to a wheelchair if offered one.

Popped into my GP practice earlier and asked about fit to fly letters, they have said it will cost £20-25 and might take up to two weeks, which isn't too bad! I'm not even sure I'll need it as I don't think I look as far along as I actually am, but would hate to have an issue at the airport for my journey home when I'm right on the edge of when the airline allows travel without a doctor's note.

Mitsky · 05/06/2024 12:43

I have definitely popped over the last couple of days which is very strange to see!

I’m now at the stage where nothing properly fits and I dislike the way I look - I’ve also got to moderate an event for 1000 people on camera (with body visible) next week and am already not looking forward to it. All this sounds very vain which isn’t normally me!

spudnik1 · 05/06/2024 18:14

Anyone had braxton hicks ? Had some on and off all afternoon. Think it was because I haven't drunk enough water. Came home after work, had a big drink and a lie down and seems to have done the trick.

Sara1988 · 05/06/2024 19:24

@Bee49 they're kicking like a trooper today! Also have another scan on Friday. I think I'm just getting myself worried about nothing.
