I have such bad pain today, I think it’s fibroids but I could barely sleep last night and sitting up is really unpleasant. I guess I’ll give the midwife a call to see if there’s anything they’d suggest.

mouldygrapes · 10/05/2024 14:00

I love the BBHugMe! Expensive but used it during 1st pregnancy and for breastfeeding, was also good so sit propped up on it for those early cluster feeds. I still use it now even before this pregnancy. Can't see it ever leaving this house!

mylittleitalianhome · 10/05/2024 16:35

Just came back from our anomaly scan and everything looks great. We found out that our daughter is going to be having a little sister too!

peardeer · 10/05/2024 19:39

@mylittleitalianhome amazing news, congratulations on your little girl!

CluelessInLondon · 10/05/2024 19:51

@mylittleitalianhome How lovely, congratulations! 😊

Remember ladies your.more susceptible yo overheating and sunburn when pregnant. Remember the sun cream ! I forgot this morning and now have a very red neck

rachisamumtobe · 11/05/2024 17:15

@spudnik1 yes I remembered my sun cream and my hat, managed an hours walk finished with an ice cream and that was enough for me lol

30somethingttc · 11/05/2024 20:22

Is anyone else struggling to figure out the right amount to eat?
I’ll have dinner etc and feel fine but then very quickly become very uncomfortable and full. I’m trying to eat less but then fine myself going to bed hungry as I don’t want to eat just before I sleep as getting bad heart burn when I do.
I’m worried being too full will hurt the babies, is that ridiculous?

mrssunshinexxx · 11/05/2024 21:23

@30somethingttc yes 😂😂

LuxeBiscuit · 11/05/2024 22:08

@30somethingttc I've been eating smaller, more frequent meals because I also get full quickly. It takes 20 minutes for your body to realise you're full so maybe try to eat smaller portions and leave some so you can top up in 30 mins if you're still hungry?

I have no medical knowledge but I don't think being too full can harm the baby as your stomach moves up and out of the way as your uterus grows.

CluelessInLondon · 12/05/2024 09:39

@30somethingttc If you are eating fairly quickly when you're hungry you could also try eating more slowly - slower eating means that when you start getting full there's more time for your brain to work out that you can stop eating, and it might help to stop you getting as full and uncomfortable. Then like PP said, either finish the meal after a break or you could just make sure you have some light snacks available so that you can top up with something small. I definitely don't think you can do any harm to the babies by being full, it's just uncomfortable for you!

I had my anomaly scan yesterday - everything looking good, measurements were a few days behind but nothing to worry about and all the major things are developing normally. The sonographer was very surprised that we didn't want to know the sex, he said almost everybody either finds out at the 20 week scan or has already found out before they get there! Only slight concern for me is that I have a low-lying placenta so need to have another scan at 34 weeks to see if it has moved up.

LuxeBiscuit · 12/05/2024 10:47

@CluelessInLondon I'm so pleased that the scan went well as I know you were slightly nervous. Hopefully you have a an active baby and start feeling lots of movement soon.

I won't be finding out the sex either. Although, when I had a scan a few weeks ago the sonographer told me to turn away so that might be an indication!

CluelessInLondon · 12/05/2024 11:33

@LuxeBiscuit Thank you! And even though I haven't felt much movement yet I definitely have an active baby in there, it was bouncing around all over the place and generally making the sonographer's job a lot more difficult. 😂

AppleTree16 · 12/05/2024 14:36

@LuxeBiscuit our first was a girl and surprise and the sonographer asked us and told us to turn away when they checked the genitalia. I think it’s more so you don’t see anything rather than there being an obvious willy 😂

Mitsky · 12/05/2024 14:50

@CluelessInLondon I’m glad the scan went well! Everyone I know is finding out what they’re having whereas I’m still determined to keep it a surprise.

Day 3 of being pretty much bed bound with pain, I have a midwife appointment tomorrow that I’ve managed to book and hoping it is my unqualified diagnosis of degrading fibroids rather than anything more sinister. But man this pain is horrific.

WeightoftheWorld · 12/05/2024 15:34

We never find out the sex in advance either and generally people do seem surprised.

I didn't know DC2's sex for ages. I had a ventouse delivery so after that, stitching, started going a little into shock from a small haemorrhage...I was just happy to hold him and nobody had told me his sex, I didn't even think about it! A doctor came into the room a little while later because the midwife reported my bleeding and asked me the sex and I thought, I don't know!! And opened his blanket to see. It was actually a really nice way to find out!

I had such a good day yesterday with mostly lack of sickness that I forgot to take my afternoon tablet. And thought great and I feel ok! Then was severely ill whilst Eurovision was finished and sooo badly nauseous today. So guess I can't drop the tablet in future sadly.

LuxeBiscuit · 12/05/2024 16:24

@CluelessInLondon well that might be a clue to how your baby will be once they're older!

@AppleTree16 ah okay - we'll see then, and that made me laugh.

@Mitsky is it possibly round ligament pain? I think I had this last week but it only lasted 3 days. I found it worse when lying down.

@WeightoftheWorld that's a cute story about your DC2.

Mitsky · 12/05/2024 18:01

@LuxeBiscuit I considered that initially but I have a very pronounced hard lump that I think is a very angry fibroid!

rachisamumtobe · 14/05/2024 16:55

How's everyone doing? I am feeling things so intensely and everything feels like a big deal lol

Thankful to have nice friends to help me navigate this pregnancy! It's all new to me.

I am so forgetful and super tired 🤣 looking forward to our 20 week scan at the start of June to see our baby again and hopefully find out the gender all being well.

spudnik1 · 14/05/2024 17:53

I have just had my 20-week scan. I also have had a uterine artery doppler at the same time. Anomaly scan went well, and we are having a little boy ! Who was very wriggly.

Unfortunately, the sonographer saw unilateral notching on the arterial doppler. I have been tagged on to the consultant surgery tomorrow. I have been told to go at 9am, and they will slot me in when they can. I am not quite sure what this means, but I somehow doubt I will be sleeping tonight. I don't even know what to ask the consultant, and I certainly don't want to Google.

Sorry about the scan! I’ve googled for you it appears to be quite common. In a lot of pregnancies it resolves by itself. It can also lead to IUGR so I assume that’s why they want to see you asap. Hopefully consultant can explain tomorrow.
I’d be asking things like: what does this mean for baby? Do they need more monitoring? Will it impact birth choices? Will they likely come early etc.

WeightoftheWorld · 14/05/2024 18:37

Thinking of you @sspudnik1 . I am going to have the UAD scan too due to the low papp-A and anxious about it all. I imagine you will just have extra growth and UAD scans throughout the pregnancy. But perhaps you would have had this anyway due to whatever risk factor meant you were offered the UAD scan in the first place? Hope you get some clarity and reassurance tomorrow.

I had a triage appointment with the maternal mental health service today about my birth trauma/fear. Am having a full assessment tomorrow. It's all very draining but it was that or wait however long on the waiting list (they had a cancellation) so thought I better get it over with really.

rachisamumtobe · 15/05/2024 08:37

@spudnik1 lovely to find out! Congratulations xx

spudnik1 · 15/05/2024 10:50

Thank you everyone.

Had consultant appointment this morning.

There is a chance it could resolve its self by 28 weeks when my next scan is so try not to worry about it.
It is an indication of fetal growth restriction or a predictor of future pre-eclampsia.

I am already on 150mg of asprin a day so I can't do much more but wait.

AnxiousD · 16/05/2024 14:25

Anyone else starting to get scared of childbirth? My 1st was an elected C-section for medical reasons. I'm stratung to get anxious about not being able to dekiver without an issue to baby or me. Feel so out of control.
