@mouldygrapes so sorry your feeling anxious too. It's so hard to manage isn't it! I'm glad you're feeling better but I understand the lack of symptoms can feel scary. My sickness went away over night and it panicked me so much but all was okay. I had a midwife apt today and she let me hear baby's heartbeat which helped so much. I have a private scan booked next week because the wait feels so long! Hope your anxiety has settled

WeightoftheWorld · 07/05/2024 18:09

I'm another one who is super anxious but I never was in my previous pregnancies, it's just since I found out I have low papp-A. Even though it's likely there won't be any complications but the increased risks still make me worry. This will deffo be our last pregnancy, I couldn't cope with this anxiety another time.

I think I will feel more confident about the pregnancy if the anatomy scan and uterine artery doppler scan both go ok. But as I'm only 16 weeks, I could be waiting a quite awhile yet to even get appointment letters for those.

I'm envious of people who no longer feel sick though! I'm still sick a few times a week and still have terrible nausea a lot of the time. On a phased return to work from last week which is taking it out of me too but I had ran out of full sick pay so felt forced into it really.

mouldygrapes · 07/05/2024 23:10

Perhaps spoke too soon re the nausea - definitely felt OK today but it returned this evening and I was sick after dinner. I've got plenty of the antisickness left so I think I'm just going to keep taking them for a bit longer!

@peardeer thanks. I have my delayed 16wk appt next week, hoping midwife will listen for heartbeat. Good luck for your scan

@WeightoftheWorld sorry you're feeling anxious too. Hopefully you get your appts soon so you know when you'll be scanned. Hope the sickness eases off too - I'm 16+5 and I'd say it's only really felt a bit better in the last few days (well, til I skipped my meds!). Are you taking anything for it?

spudnik1 · 08/05/2024 08:33

@WeightoftheWorld

I have to have the doppler at my 20-week scan next week. Now it's a week away. I am panicking that there will be something wrong with the blood flow. I have just been scanning my mat notes for any mention of the pap a ? But there is nothing.
To compound the worry, I have weighed myself . Haven't put a lb on since 12 weeks. My last pregnancy I gained 3stone over all and it was an even spread across the pregnancy. The only reassuring thing it I now can't fasten my coat ! So the belly is growing!

I really wouldn’t worry about weight gain. I lost loads of weight due to HG. I’m now back at pre baby weight and GP is happy with that.

Chudge · 08/05/2024 12:36

Much like others on this thread, my anxiety levels are high!
This is my 3rd baby, 4th pg, and I'm 16+1. While I can see from pics I've taken since 13 weeks that my belly is growing, I'm freaked out that something is wrong. Sickness, tiredness, sore boobs etc are all gone the past 2 weeks and not feeling any movement yet 😫I think I was 16/17 weeks when I first felt movement on my 2nd so that's driving me mad. My anomaly scan isn't until I'm 22+6 either!!

We had a MMC in 2021 so maybe that's not helping matters, and I was never not worried with either of my two boys while pregnant 😂But god this stage is tough!

WeightoftheWorld · 08/05/2024 16:46

Our due dates must be just a day apart I think @Chudge ?! We are almost the same gestation. Sorry you feel so nervous too. At least you have a date for your scan, I probably won't even get my appointment letter for a few more weeks as they send them out very soon before the appointments here.

@spudnik1 I also wouldn't worry about weight gain at this point at all. We don't actually need any 'extra' calories until the third trimester. I've had HG in all my pregnancies, with DC1 I lost quite a bit of weight and wasn't back to my pre-pregnancy weight until I was about 20 weeks. With DC2 I didn't lose but didn't gain until around then and this time I have been the least ill and have put on but only about 2-3kg (at 16 weeks). My babies have always been fine and fine weights, I made up for it in the third trimesters as I find I'm permanently starving then!

@mouldygrapes oh no, sorry you have been feeling unwell again! Yes, I'm still taking the max dose of Xonvea. I vomit at least a few days a week still and I feel nauseous most of each day still so definitely won't be reducing it down any time soon as worried I'd get worse then. I'm hoping to feel a lot better by week 20 like in my last pregnancies, fingers crossed...

LuxeBiscuit · 08/05/2024 18:24

After a day at work with my trousers digging in (the bump increases in size by 50% after midday) I've come home to a delivery.

I bought maternity jeans and a pair of work trousers from H&M. The level of comfort from my normal trousers is worlds apart. I don't usually shop there but I'm impressed with the jeans.

The plan is to pick up a pair of maternity leggings and a couple of nursing tops then try to get away with non-maternity loose dresses and tops.

Has anyone else bought anything?

spudnik1 · 08/05/2024 18:47

I have been living in maternity clothes since week 10 😂
All off vinted . I have 5 maternity dresses ( jojo maman and serephine) 2 pairs of jeans from h and m . And 3 pairs of new john lewis maternity tights .
Just bought a couple of shorts as going on holiday in a few weeks. As for t shirts I am stealing my husbands.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance . Fingers crossed the scan is OK although I have a suspicion that they will only let me know at the consultant app the week after.

Joey2011 · 09/05/2024 08:34

Any ideas on how to cope with hip pain in bed? I'm a front sleeper and have a dodgy left hip and sleeping on my side is causing alot of aches and pain, no matter which side I'm on.
I've tried a pillow between and they makes them worse.

Mitsky · 09/05/2024 08:45

Time is going sooooooo slowly. But I’m an end of October date so feel like everyone is ahead!

I’m an oversized Cos type clothing person normally which helps on the tightness front but I’ve treated myself to a maxi draw string skirt which I feel is going ti become my best friend as I let it out!

CluelessInLondon · 09/05/2024 09:22

@Joey2011 Have you had a look a buying a special pregnancy pillow? Might be worth doing some research on ones that are recommended for front sleepers - there are so many out there, I started to drown a bit in the different options and it took me ages to choose one! I'm a side/back sleeper so I went for the Bella Moon which is C-shaped, but one of my friends recommended a U-shaped pillow that is probably better for side sleeping if you don't naturally sleep in that position. The one she suggested was huge though, although it did look very comfy!

I haven't bought any maternity stuff yet - at the moment I'm in the in between of being a bit too big for my normal clothes (bottom half anyway, tops are still okay) but would be drowning in proper maternity wear! I've bought a few bits to try and bridge the gap, leggings and things with elasticated waists that will hopefully last me the next few weeks until I get big enough to need actual maternity clothes. Otherwise I'm getting by with bump bands to hide the fact that I can't do up my trousers and skirts!

Has anybody else got their anomaly scan coming up soon? Mine is on Saturday, definitely feeling a mix of anticipation about seeing baby again and fear that I might get told something is wrong.

OP posts:
WeightoftheWorld · 09/05/2024 09:33

Yes I'm half in maternity clothes atm and have been for weeks. But I definitely wasn't with my first pregnancy, just you er stretch quicker with subsequent ones I guess.

It won't let me tag on the stupid app again ergh. But yes definitely get a pregnancy pillow it will help support your hip when side sleeping. I'm a front sleeper too, in my last pregnancies I've managed to continue it until about week 20 although even bigger this time than last so presume I will have to give up a bit sooner this time.

Joey2011 · 09/05/2024 10:01

I will have another look at pillows.

I'm not quite in maternity wear yet but have noticed that I'm finding discomfort in trousers sitting on my bump.

I bought a bump band but I'm not quite ready for it yet.
I want to lookmat some leggings but also need to see what work will let me wear. I have a meeting about new uniform next week, as we're moving away from chinos, so will ask about it then.

Missingpotatocroquettes · 09/05/2024 15:09

Still no need for maternity wear for me yet, getting kind of disappointed at my lack of bump. I'm 17 weeks now and supposedly baby is the size of a pomegranate so where the hell is it lol.

I have been looking at pregnancy pillows though! Especially since I keep waking up on my back, which is weird since I'm normally a front/side sleeper. I think it'll help with my awful back pain though, I think it's caused by my loosy goosy ligaments because I haven't done anything to injure it.

Doctors appointments are going well. They scan me everytime to check for extra fluid in the baby and so far everything is looking good. He did say that currently I have placenta previa but I'm early on so plenty of time for it to move up 🤞🏻

Here's the lack of bump:

CluelessInLondon · 09/05/2024 15:19

@Missingpotatocroquettes I looked more pregnant when I wasn't pregnant than you look now! 😂I definitely recommend the Bella Moon pillow to help with back pain and stopping rolling onto your back while you're sleeping - I've been using it for about a week and other than one bad night where I just couldn't get comfortable whatever I did, it has definitely been helping.
Glad to hear that your appointments are going well so far, it's good that you're getting plenty of extra monitoring.

OP posts:
LuxeBiscuit · 09/05/2024 15:34

@Mitsky I know. I can't believe we're not even at the half way point yet.

@Missingpotatocroquettes it's so interesting how our bodies are so different. I look like I'm hiding a small football under my clothes every evening. I'm glad your scans are going well and you're getting to see baby.

Missingpotatocroquettes · 09/05/2024 15:46

@CluelessInLondon 😂. I think it's became I'm tall and have a long torso so more room for the baby to grow. Also ftm so that probably helps. I'll check out the Bella moon pillow, thank you! Is it quite long? I'm worried I'll get that'll be too short for me to be comfy. Wishing you luck for your anatomy scan!

@LuxeBiscuit the difference is crazy! Everyone keeps telling me I'll "pop" soon though. I can definitely feel the lump in my belly, it's just still not very visible.

CluelessInLondon · 09/05/2024 16:22

@Missingpotatocroquettes It is fairly long - it's a C shape so works well for supporting head/neck and hips and stops me from rolling flat onto my back during the night. I'm 5'7" and it would still fit comfortably around me even if I was 2-3 inches taller. It's not the cheapest out there but also not horrifically expensive, and it's multipurpose - the middle section can be taken out later to turn it into a feeding pillow so I figure I'll get plenty of use out of it post-pregnancy as well.

OP posts:
WickWood · 09/05/2024 18:01

@CluelessInLondon I have my 20 week scan soon and feel the same as you, excited and nervous! Fingers crossed yours goes well, I'm sure it will! X

Sunandsea13 · 09/05/2024 18:23

Thanks @spudnik1 and @mrssunshinexxx !!

Sunandsea13 · 09/05/2024 18:24

Anyone else around 5ft and considering ELCS?

WickWood · 09/05/2024 19:13

@Sunandsea13 Does height impact labour choice etc? Genuinely curious, pregnant with my first and I'm quite tall, so just curious what you mean! X

Missingpotatocroquettes · 10/05/2024 05:04

@CluelessInLondon ah, probably a little too small for me but thank you for the recommendation. I'll search for a similar one.

CluelessInLondon · 10/05/2024 09:42

@Missingpotatocroquettes The BBhugme gets rave reviews as well and I think that's a bit bigger than the Bella Moon so might be worth a look - it's quite expensive but again it's adjustable so should be useful after baby arrives too.
