Hi, I am. Very early in first pregnancy (approx 4.5 weeks) and on progesterone following IVF. Also very anxious!

Twinkletwinklelil · 08/04/2024 07:38

Ah good luck! @HopefulElle
it worked for my last pregnancy if that’s any consolation, although the fear and worry doesn’t go away.
are you booked for any scans?

Hi op, I am. Due to having a MC over 4 months ago & having a bleed with this current pregnancy. Just over 8 weeks and feeling apprehensive. My last MC ended at 8wks but I didn’t find out until 10wks

HopefulElle · 08/04/2024 09:01

Thanks @Twinkletwinklelil, how far along are you? I can’t quite believe I’m pregnant tbh, I have a scab 2 weeks today (at IVF clinic) by which point I’ll be 6.5 weeks (or maybe 7, I’m not sure exactly how to calculate when it’s IVF).
It’s a horrible limbo of happiness vs anxiety isn’t it!
Sorry about your loss @Figtree11, that must have been really tough. I hope the progesterone helps and this one sticks x

Jellybelly888 · 08/04/2024 10:19

Yes me, I had 3 x early MC before my DS and now I’m pregnant again (6 years gap between) and asked a private clinic to prescribe me it because I had it with DS and it resulted in a live birth. I’m on 2 x 400mg pessaries per day.

Twinkletwinklelil · 08/04/2024 10:55

I’m 6+4
had previous MCs too hence the progesterone. It was a godsend in my last pregnancy and I had a successful one.
@Figtree11 sorry for your losses, so difficult isn’t it!
@HopefulElle exactly that, the limbo. IVF is amazing I truly hope it goes successfully for you - it’s a gruelling process too but so worth it ♥️

sending you both love and luck!

Hi @Twinkletwinklelil how are you doing? I’m on progesterone following two MMCs. I was on progesterone for my last MMC too, so am feeling anxious about this one. 🤞

Figtree11 · 08/04/2024 12:59

Thanks @Twinkletwinklelil and @HopefulElle
I’ve only been on it for less than a week & already finding it a bit of a faff & messy!

HopefulElle · 08/04/2024 13:04

@Figtree11 it really is! I’ve been on it 3x a day for about 6 or 7 weeks now (started before embryo transfer). A messy faff, but absolutely worth it if it helps 🤞🏼

Figtree11 · 08/04/2024 13:06

How many weeks do you have to take it for @HopefulElle ? I’ve been told up until 16 weeks, but only twice a day. I am definitely hoping this will all be worth it 🤞🏻

Greengrassfreshair · 08/04/2024 13:09

Also on progesterone with my IVF baby. Currently 11+3 weeks, told to stay on it til 14 weeks which seems quite long. Had the option to use pessaries but it made me spot a little, so am now enjoying lubion injections instead. 😅

HopefulElle · 08/04/2024 13:26

@Figtree11 I’m not sure yet, I think 10-12 weeks.. they’ve only prescribed enough to get me to my scan so far, which makes sense as I’m paying for it.
Congratulations @Greengrassfreshair! do you have your scan coming up soon?
I had some spotting but based on the timings they think it was implantation bleeding.

Greengrassfreshair · 08/04/2024 13:45

@hopefulelle Congratulations to you too! 4.5 weeks is such an exciting and anxious time. I also had a hard time believing it, after years of infertility. Even now I stay cautious but with every scan it becomes more real.
This is a bit embarrassing but I had scans at 7, 8.5, 11 weeks so far, privately, because I am an anxious mess and have no self control. 😆My first NHS one is in two weeks.
Keep me updated how you get on!

HopefulElle · 08/04/2024 13:59

@Greengrassfreshair realised I’m actually 5 weeks today (yes I’m definitely counting the .5s at this point!). That’s not embarrassing at all, I think I’ll be exactly the same! This was our one and only embryo from 3 cycles so my anxiety is sky high.

That’s what I did last time.. this time will be the same too.
I remember the 16th week.. coming off it was SO worrying. But you have to trust. ♥️

@Wise0wl hiya. I’m ok, anxious but the sickness is very much reassuring. How are you? Keep the faith… I had to remind myself again and again that my body was made for this!! Just this little assistance needed.

@Greengrassfreshair don’t worry! We had private scans MONTHLY if not more. You’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do for peace of mind! Good luck x

I’m 11.5 weeks and on progesterone! I was on daily cyclogest suppositories, and was told to wean down to one every other day from 11 weeks and then stop completely at 12 weeks - am quite nervous about doing so! First pregnancy - had been ttc for well over a year, never had a bfp and then got one first month on progesterone so I am sure it has made all the difference!

Twinkletwinklelil · 08/04/2024 17:15

@hopingforapeainapod good luck!! It is stressful coming off them but it’s totally fine! Trust your body ♥️ congratulations x

I am. I was offered it due to a late miscarriage in December. I then had some heavy bleeding early on in this pregnancy, which turned out to be a hematoma. I'm just over 9 weeks now.

Twinkletwinklelil · 10/04/2024 06:29

I have woken up riddled with anxiety today.
😥 waiting so long for a scan (so long? One more week lol) is really stressing me out ni don’t think I’m going to rest until I see everything is ok.. crazy isn’t it. My body is made to be ok, but my mind is fighting it so much!

@1yearplan hope all is going well this time for you 🙏🏽

OP posts:
1yearplan · 10/04/2024 06:50

@Twinkletwinklelil all of the waiting is just horrible isn't it.
My 12 week scan is booked for the beginning of May. I've booked a private scan for tomorrow because I'm a ball of anxiety too. I've got it into my head that progesterone might mask a miscarriage. I've no evidence of this though 🤦‍♀️

Wise0wl · 10/04/2024 08:21

@1yearplan i’m also worried that progesterone will mask a MC. My EPU are scanning me today (6+3) so we’ll see 🤞

Twinkletwinklelil · 10/04/2024 08:52

@1yearplan @Wise0wl i was told the same that it can mask it!

I hope both your scans go well and you get to see your little babies!! ♥️

OP posts:
1yearplan · 10/04/2024 09:19

@Twinkletwinklelil @Wise0wl it's just the scariest time isn't it. Especially after previous losses.
I really hope your scan goes well today @Wise0wl.

HopefulElle · 10/04/2024 09:24

By “mask it”, do you mean that it could stop the bleeding?
Good luck today @Wise0wl! x

Sez281 · 10/04/2024 09:47

Hi ladies, just thought I'd offer some reassurance for anybody worrying about coming off the progesterone. At my 12 week scan 2 weeks ago my consultant told me to come off it (I was on 2x400mg cyclogest per day) as much as I hated the mess of it I was filled with anxiety about stopping and would have liked to continue until 16 weeks. She told me that the placenta had taken over and everything looked well so there was no point continuing it.
I'm 14 weeks now and had an amazing private scan yesterday where everything looked great and baby was kicking and waving away (the sonographer also pointed out where the placenta was and how it was doing all the work)

I'm still filled with anxiety (I think that's normal after loss) but also I'm learning to trust the process and the professionals.. plus the freedom of no more messy pessaries is amazing 😂
